the high current will tend to flow on the outside skin of the car along paths of lowest resistance after it connects to the upward reaching ground leader from the area near the top of the car. Not always perfect though. Better than using your body by sitting outside the car though.
the high current will also arc across or heat to the point of autoignition at any high resistance points in the path. So starting a fire under the hood or where there are plastics is likely. Possibly a dead short of the starter battery.
