  1. Another UK State pension topic hijacked by the forum Wise fan boys. OP do what you think best for yourself and your circumstances. I have had my military pension paid into Bangkok Bank for 19 years and my state pension for 3 years. Never had any issues ever. There may be variations in exchange rates, but so what. I live here in Thailand , not UK and my money is in a local Bank, 15 mins drive away and always available. No poncing about on PC's/phones and transfers, and reading countless posts on here "what happened to my transfer?, I sent it 30 seconds ago"
  2. I'd like to jump on this topic. I am planning a trip back to the UK next March 2026 and looking at travel insurance. A major hurdle (maybe) is in Nov 2023, I was hospitalized in a Bangkok, for about 8 days, receiving treatment in the cardio centre. . Therefore I have a pre existing condition to declare, pulmonary hypertension. It is under control with medication and I go for 3 month checkups. Last week was my last visit and the cardiologist wrote me a note, basically saying I suffered from PAH, but was healthy to travel. Can anyone recommend a good insurance company, I have had a look at Axa already... My trip is only for 3 weeks. I have done a bit of research with AI about NHS cover and as a non resident UK I could well encounter issues if things go wobbly.....

  6. Americans, always good for a laugh, when they bang on about lefties and the left. Most wouldn't know a lefty if Marx himself came up and biffed them with his Manifesto
  7. He got a phone call from BBL main branch in Phetchabun, bring in ID document and proof of address to prove he was the owner of fixed deposit account (orange savings book) where his 800k for retirement extension is. Despite showing passport/ marriage certificates and other paperwork, the BBL staff insisted that the only means would be Pink ID card and yellow house book. This directive coming from HQ Silom Road, BBL HQ. It took him about 3 weeks at our local Amphur to do this, jumping through more hoops that you would see at Crufts Dog Show. It's all sorted now, weird one is I too have had funds in a Fixed Deposit account with BBL, but at a different branch in our province, I don't have Yellow book or Pink ID card and just use my Passport when I have to visit the branch.
  8. Must have been a good budget... got callers into Times radio saying they are struggling on 75K Punts a year.......
  9. my neighbour had to get one, Bangkok Bank froze his 800K, and wouldn't accept his UK passport as proof of ID.
  10. Thanks a good detailed post of what is now required. My only question is about : Copies of both marriage witnesses' ID cards front only Does this mean witnesses from when you got married, or witnesses who know you where you reside? I was married twenty years back in Amphur Don Mueang and cannot remember if we had a witness .......
  11. "I have heard it suggested" Stop listening to idiots then, and as for the "Daily Farage.......
