I have Thai credit cards without any fixed deposit, but I hold a Work permit.

    Fixed deposit option is useless.

as @nigelforbes said. That is a diff criteria, its investment method.

If you have in excess of 2 Mill THB in your account , you can get a credit card without any document/Wp etc.

It's an option. Whether it's useful depends on the circumstances.

  2. Am a very recent UOB customer in addition to also having accounts at the usual local banks (BBK, K-Bank, SCB) and found their staff at UOB HQ on Sukhumvit refreshingly professional, commercially minded and modern to deal with during account opening and getting a credit card (no work permit and the usual local payslips, so most local banks just say "no"). Will see how it goes with UOB as an international alternative to the local banks going forward and who deserves more of my business ...

  3. I don't believe you can use Wise to send from Thailand to Europe, see https://wise.com/help/articles/2932335/guide-to-thb-transfers ("You can’t currently send money from THB."). I've only ever used Wise for Thailand inbound transfers.

There are services to send money from Thailand to Europe, e.g. https://www.deemoney.com/ but no personal experience. Poland seems not listed on their website as yet.

I got one while on marriage extensions, from Bangkok Bank. But the asked me to secure the 200000 THB credit limit with a fixed term deposit account.

Thank you @Boomer6969, have explored this further and it ended up being fairly straightforward with Bangkok Bank (Visa, 500k) and UOB (Mastercard, 900k) apart from the three dozen or so pages with signatures each time.

Just wondering, is there any reference to state we can use fast track?

It's listed on the BoI LTR website. At Suvarnabhumi itself one of the categories to use Fast Track is 'Smart Visa' (also BoI administered), it doesn't specifically state 'LTR' on the posters but I've traveled in and out a couple times and no problem. If challenged say you have "Smart Visa LTR" or something.

I'm not sure just how well informed/researched the author is, based on the above.

Yes a couple other factual inaccuracies in the article. It also doesn't even mention the Royal decree 743 nor the Revenue Department notification 427, both listed on the BOI LTR website. So the LTR specifics are not duly considered in the article. This is not a surprise since the article is dated 14 Sep 2022 (and thus probably written a week or more prior) at which time the LTR had only just been launched and the info on the BOI LTR website was not as comprehensive as it is today. The majority of the aspects in the article are not dependent on LTR visa but are generally applicable. Similarly, I would expect the average person answering enquiries at the Revenue Department not to know the LTR specifics. It's just too new, and too rare.

Here is a more relevant article from an expert firm specialised in Thai tax: Thailand Long Term Resident Visa Tax - SHERRINGS.

I've contacted two of the global top four tax and accounting firms and both provide specific tax advisory on this point for around USD2,000 - 3,000. I haven't gone ahead with it at this point due to personal circumstances, but would recommend anyone who is planning to spend any more than 180 days a calendar year in Thailand under a LTR-T visa to consider seeking professional tax advise.

For LTR visa purposes, does my income, and investment in Thailand, need to be only in my own name?

I have only joint tax returns for the past decades, and I’d like e.g. a foreigner-owned condo I buy in Bangkok to be held jointly with me and (Thai) wife. Would those still work as evidence for the LTR wealthy pensioner or wealthy global citizen application?

Yes, they would consider your % portion of the respective investments e.g. if you jointly 50/50 own a condo of 10m then they would account 5m for your application.

  8. Has anyone with a LTR-T (WFTP) been able to get a proper credit card locally in Thailand? Normal requirement is to show local pay slips as one of the conditions to get one which obviously doesn't apply for us. We also don't have a traditional local work permit for reasons mentioned above in the threat.

I've got a couple debit cards with the major banks here and am aware you can have a 'credit' card that must be secured by a savings account ... which is like a debit card at the end of the day. They also tend to come with fairly low spend limits like THB100 - 150k a month.

On returning, there was again a short discussion among the IOs.  Then a passport stamp that says "Admitted until 25/12/2027".  So it seems I'm being admitted on a rolling 5 year basis.  Not sure this is the way it is supposed to work ...

Am curious if others who have re-entered with an LTR visa are getting rolling 5 year stamps like this?

Definitely not they way is supposed to work ???? but who am I to argue. Mine is fixed date every time, 5 years from first entry. It may be due to the fact that you traveled via DMK and not BKK so maybe less LTR expertise.

Does the applicant need meet all three criteria or just one of the three?

I'm not in a mood to invest $500k USD in Thailand at this time.

    Yes all three criteria

Also there is now a graphic showing the new "statuses" a person see in their online account as their application progresses through the system.

Very helpful chart, thanks for sharing. So when you are 'qualification approved' you're actually only half way through the full process in fact ????

This explains the relatively long duration from getting the 'approval' notice to the visa issuance. It also clarifies that the other government agencies come after 'approved' and are not part of that, hence 'qualification approved' only.

Can someone kindly explain my options as an Australian to get my Visa? I know the price is 3k AUD here in Sydney and only 50k baht in thailand. Can i choose? Is it online?

Im flying into thailand on the 24th so both are an option.

After LTR approval there should be an email coming that asks you to select online where you want to receive the visa, either in Bangkok or an overseas Royal Thai Embassy.

This is what they sent me early October, process may have changed now.

    2. CHOOSE THE LOCATION FOR LTR VISA ISSUANCE

Please update the information about the place you would like to collect the visa from [Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate-General or One Stop Service for Visa and Work Permit Center (OSS), 18th floor, Chamchuri Square Building, Bangkok.]

For visa issuance at One Stop Service for Visa and Work Permit Center (OSS), please update the information of your latest arrival in Thailand (for the immigration purpose).

Hi @aublumberg a question for you as I recall you have the LTR visa from Hong Kong and have since traveled to and from Thailand.  Just wondering what stamps you received when you crossed in and out of Thailand?  And have you come back into Thailand again?

The reason I ask is that I have an LTR e-visa and received an entry stamp when I arrived in Thailand in November. It says I have permission to stay for 5 years. But that's the only thing in my passport, and to be honest it's not very grand looking. I'm planning a short international trip in a week from Don Muang. Not sure what to expect at the airport on either end of the trip.  Will bring a separate print out of the LTR e-visa in case there are questions.

Hi @Misty am currently on my third trip into Thailand after receiving my LTR-T. I got a sticker from the Royal Thai Consulate in Hong Kong which states multi entry and valid until Oct 2032. When I enter Thailand, I get a normal entry stamp which shows permission to stay until 27 Oct 2027. Exit stamp is a normal one, nothing special. I think the Immigration Officers are aware that LTR is multi entry. On the other hand LTR is still quite new. During my most recent entry, it took three officers a good 15 mins to figure it all out. Not quite the usual 'Fast Pass' lane experience but all good.
