Good post. It is fairly straight forward getting a work permit on a marriage visa. You havent bought yet so when you do just make sure you structure it correctly. A few forms to fill out and you are ready to go. Another option is to pay your local immigration a monthy "gratitude" to turn a blind eye. The Labour Dept grants the work permit but it will be immigration that causes you problems.

Very true Barry. Even on this forum there are constant put downs of Chinese, Indians, Russians and especially Thais. It is disgusting. Though a certain amount of bullying at school can toughen you up for the real world. IMO

The reality if you read his facebook page is that he can not handle his booze and has drug problems. He brags about it in his posts, says he always gets banned from places when he gets drunk. Well I see someone has complained. I drink two little cans of chang per hour from 3 pm beer oclock to dinner at 8pm. Dont even feel it, i just like the refreshing taste. If i did drink all ten in an hour i would feel it. Then a bottle of wine duing a large meal. over one and a half hours. Feeling talkative but not drunk. If I skolled a bottle of wine I would be drunk. Then start on the Chivas after dinner, and drink doubles for the taste. Once again, not overly fast. Maybe 2-3 per hour. Getting drunk but if only drink half a bottle, only medium drunk. There are many people I know who can outdrink me, because of the speed in which they down the drinks. I also get hangovers if drinking quickly. Maybe a teetotaller or light or occassional drinker would not realise or forgets speed is more important than quantity when it comes to drunkeness. I am not an alcoholic. Because I can stop whenever i WANT to. Sorry I offended whoever.

Pesonally I find the most irratating loud talkers to be the drunken Brits who it seems love to more or less shout at each other and are oblivious to those around them.

I disagree. There are hundreds if you can speak a bit of basic Thai. Even if you cant in a big pub you always find some than can speak English. A poor excuse to buy a prostitute full time. i think Australia has taken on more than its fair share of Brits and most Aussies dont want anymore of them. Especially retired ones who wont work and contribute to the current skilled labor shortage and just fill up houses that Australians need.

The government might not have passed any laws but most people dont bat an eyelid when seeing a Ladyboy, Tomboy, dee, gay king, gay queen. A lot of countries they would be harrassed in the streets, some people would want to bash them and in some others it is illegal. In the western world there seems to be an obsession with trans despite hardly ever seeing any in day to day life. Thais are more sensible and live and let live and dont get triggered by some people who are a bit different to the norm. Good people the Thais.

I think you are confused.

Any mention of TAT on this forum seems to trigger the same old bar stool reactions from the usual old aunties. The reality is TAT has had amazing success bringing trillions of baht into Thailand and improving the lives of millions of Thai people directly and lifting the standard of living generally. Other south east asian countries have beautiful beaches and are even cheaper than Thailand, but Thailand brings in more cash than all the others combined, Bangkok is extremely popular as are the islands etc. This idea outlined in the OP is exactly what is needed. Thailand is recovering so much better and faster than most other tourist spots around the world. Ironically the aunties posting were lured here because of TAT even if they dont realise it. Thailand is a world tourism leader. Suck it up girls.

They are often lured under false pretences. After arrival bashed and raped day in day out paying off a debt that never goes away. There are many legitimate jobs overseas that pay more. Are you a bar owner?
