  1. July 23, 2011, Chinese High Speed Train disaster took place. That accident is named Wenzhou train collision. And it claimed over 200 lives. After that case, the government of China said death toll is no more than 35. And promptly buries the whole site including the doomed train. I can imagine the similar can happen in Thailand in the future if they introduce Chinese bullet train. Thai State Rail is struggling to maintain their existing railroad. How can you expect they can handle more complicated faster trains better? I certainly will not ride such a suicide toy... Wenzhou train collision - Wikipedia
  2. Poo-tin is convinced that the foreign land inhabited by Russians is the extended Russians territory.
  3. Good to know that thoughtless bixch got arrested and punished. Even though 500 Baths fine is too little, 2-week jail term sounds satisfactory(unless the victim suffers no further damages). Anywhere in the world, pregnant mother should be treated with reasonable care. Physically attacking such people is the last thing I can imagine; they cant't fight back sufficiently. Or run fast enough because of their condition.
  4. 2 offenders denying their charges while what they did to the cop was clearly filmed? Typical sick mentality of the western criminals; utterly convinced self-justification saves their asses in any cases. Even if there are heaps of evidence. Truly disgusting thugs.
  5. >the authorities are targeting those who have entered the kingdom illegally. If they say they (start to) target farangs in their concern of illegal entry, sounds totally meaningless. They are highly unlikely to enter Thailand ILLEGALLY; they don't have to do it in the first place. They can afford to have proper passport and buy airline tickets to lawfully arrive here. Illegal entrants are mostly about from Burma, Lao, Cambodia. Who got reasons to skip lawful entry(hesitate to pay the cost of passport and work permit; costly from their standard).
  6. It serves these evil brothers right; simply got what they deserve. Time to face criminal court and BKK Hilton...
  7. With the weapons of own choices, let’s stay safe in the country of million loose dogs. Most of them are safe and OK. But small percentage of them are vicious and dangerous.
  8. They would never do that in the US of A either LOL. They are most likely to be sent home in body bags instead of being taken into police custody alive. Assault on the cop make enough excuse to get shot on the spot.
  9. Worrying about dog attacks while you are out and about? A simple solution to keep you safe. Busted over 260 mean dogs that attempted to attack me by now.
  10. Hello, folks, I am seeking above information. Did any of you recently cross Maesai-Tachileik border? I know someone looking for up-to-date advice. He is a tourist thinking about a day trip in that border region. Your contribution will be appreciated.
  11. Not really. Several years ago, I forgot to pick up my ATM card after cash withdrawal at the Central Airport Plaza(Chiang Mai province). 5-10 minutes later, I noticed I did not retrieve it. And anxiously reported to that same branch(at Central Airport Plaza). Bank Teller said. "Mr. is this your card?" And she gave that card back to me. She added that one stranger found it and brought it to this branch. When I do grocery shopping at the public market(e.g. Muang Mai, Chiang Mai Gate), their price quote for the weight of the item is usually very accurate.
  12. Rapid and steady economic growth after 1990s. Behind such flashy modern-day Thailand image, some people are still dying for the amount of money as small as pocket-change to the 1st-world people.
  13. Hello, Pretty interesting comment. Could I possibly ask you which kind of visa you currently have for your long term stay in Viet Nam? I thought Viet Nam does not have any retirement visa unlike Thailand, Cambodia, and some other SEA countries. More than a decade ago, I have come across an American early retiree in Thailand. He said that he usually lives in Viet Nam on tourist visa. Then he added that he can have his stay permit extended for indefinite period with the help of local travel agent. No further details were not disclosed though.
  14. Cambodia. The only requirement for the foreign retirees to stay long term is being 55 YO or older. Absolutely Nothing Else unlike in Thailand. On entry, pick an Ordinary Visa(can be changed to Retirement Visa valid for 3, 6,12 months through the local travel agents). It costs about U$300- or so. One good news. It comes with re-entry permit. So you don't have to buy Re-Entry permit separately. And their RV can be extended each year at the same cost. Their banks also offer a lot more attractive interest rate for the term deposit than in Thailand. I am happy with my daily life here. But at the same time, Plan B is always in my mind just in case. Thai government might try to kick out foreign retirees other than the very/super rich in the future.
