  1. @CALSinCMPM me if you still need help. I know a Thai friend who speaks good English and would be able to help at a very reasonable price.
  2. +1 good experience, worth considering if you want something easy and hassle free.
  3. Thanks Joe, reassuring. According to a previous post the requirement for the extension when married via the cash route are are 2 copies of everything below per below: Completed TM7 application form. Proof of 400k baht in the bank for 2 months by way of a letter from your bank and your bank book Copies of your passport photo page and every page that has any stamp or visa for Thailand on it. Copy of TM6 departure card. Marriage certificate and a updated Kor Ror 2 marriage registry (Kor Ror 22 for foreign marriages) Copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card. Photos of you, wife and kids in and around the house. One must show you both with the house number shown in it. Map to your residence from the nearest main road or street along with GPS coordinates. Recommended you add home GPS coordinates on your smart phone as the Immigration officers normally ask for you to show them on your phone. Proof of residence if not living where your wife's house book is for. If you have kids you need copies of all their details - birth certificate, ID, etc. Is anything missing @ubonjoe Is a tax return required if you do the 400k option? Guessing no but one can never assume. Thanks in advance Thanks in advance
  4. I hope this isn't the case as I am thinking the monthly salary route is too messy and so I'm thinking of going down the 400k cash route again but only have about 2.5 months left before I need to apply (and I haven't put the 400k in my account yet). I guess the fallback option is the monthly salary option if worst comes to worst.
  5. Yes in my very limited experience they don't all appear to know the rules. Many a time I have asked a question to confirm something and they gave me a different answer or weren't sure.
  6. predicted starting line-up and score for tonight's top of the table clash lads?
  7. But they don't pay tax on their income is what TVM are suggesting.
  8. so you are saying they don't record the cost of the employee and just pay them out of cash they they get - ok hadn't realised that was common. Guessing the income tax dept are the most savvy people in the world then.
  9. I was referring to people who worked for companies not individual businesses
  10. If they don't register them as employees how do they justify to the tax department their payments?
  11. Yes that would be the ideal way but normally the situation whereby companies deduct WHT is when they are treating you as a consultant not an employee. I guess they don't want to have to pay the benefits and have all the extra admin hassles for short-term, consultancy or part-time work which then leaves the onus on the person working to file their own tax return.
  12. Begs the question which lady and big boss? ???? Your big boss?
  13. I want to adopt my step son in Thailand and wondered if any TVM had gone through the process and could share their experience, requirements, etc. I plan to contact the Thailand authorities this morning but in my experience you learn more from TVM than from the authorities, e.g immigration, etc. I have been based in Thailand now for the last 18 months. I did search on the government website for the criteria in English but sadly wasn't able to find the exact document despite there being many other documents. Hence I will contact the authorities today. Looking forward to receiving responses. Thanks in advance.
  14. Many thanks for sharing, I know I could do that as my main employer suggested that. But, what about if you wanted to keep the full-time and part-time income separate without each employer knowing the income earned in each occupation -g is that possible, and if so how would I go about that? I'm a private person and don't feel everyone should know everything. Thanks in advance
  15. I have a normal full-time job and my employer files my tax returns. In this role my employer submits tax returns on my behalf. However, now I have been offered the opportunity to earn extra money in a part-time capacity. Withholding tax of 3% will be deducted from this secondary position. I am liable for the balance of income tax for this work (which is fine). However, I want to know how to proceed with regards to the filing of my income tax return. I wondered if any other TVM have experience in this situation? What is the normal process for filing my tax return in such a situation. Would my main employer file their part and I subsequently file the secondary part myself after the end of the tax year as a supplementary return? Thanks in advance.

    Paying Tax

Interesting, I wonder what kind of receipt is required for the charitable donation.....as I donated to our village school this year.

    Paying Tax

This is an excellent guide. Much appreciated @jojothai
  18. Thanks for the update. It looks like government offices closures (WFH) will be extended.........which makes sense with increasing covid numbers.
  19. I've been reading a thread about the above but it focuses on Bangkok largely. I have read the eligibility rules, etc and plan to apply when I am eligible. Has anyone managed to get citizenship in Chiang Mai? If so where do you have to go submit the application and where for the interview? Thanks in advance

    Paying Tax

I need to pay income tax on earnings myself. Where is the Income Tax office in Chiang Mai - near the government offices at City hall? Secondly, I'm guessing it's not that easy to complete all the forms myself as I am presuming they will be in Thai, so I will need some assistance (from someone) or does the government office help you with that LOL? I just have a part-time job whereby 3% withholding tax is deducted but I am responsible for paying the income tax element. I understand the tax year runs Jan to December and I need to submit my return by the end of March 2022. Thanks in advance
  21. It's fine, I take it as banter if said in the right way. If aggressive and repeatedly then it's too far. But I'm just a fan and it's said about Chelsea fans when aimed at me or my team not me personally like Gilmour for example.
