  1. No, but if it was for financial gain maybe understandable, but I cannot think of a reason why, which is why I find it a weird situation as taxes are being paid, so what would be the motive for dual contracts? Seems odd, something is fishy....I just cannot figure out what....
  2. Is it normal for NGO employees to have two separate contracts of employment with different salaries. One with a lower value for visa and immigration purposes, and a higher one which the NGO pays the employee and taxes on. Has anyone ever heard of this before and if so, why do they do it? I can't understand why. Is there a maximum salary permissable for NGO staff under their visa?
  3. Interesting read with Christmas coming up. I wanted to try and make some sausage rolls for a fundraising event. Previous posters and experienced suagae roll makers - approximately how many small sausage rolls could I make with one of these packs please? Thanks
  4. I was enquiring for a friend who is considering opening a restaurant. Does it matter anyway? Does everyone who posts on here need to be questioned by you as to why they are asking something? Don't you have something better to do with your time?
  5. More coverage on here and I don't know any local bar owners.
  6. This is an old post but I wondered if the incidents described are still happening in Chiang Mai today?
  7. I want to transfer my bank account to a nearer branch of SCB. Does anyone know the process involved in this? Do I go to the new branch or the old one to instigate this? Will I need a new ATM card? Thanks
  8. If so, is the procedure any different for those with a yellow book?
  9. Presumably, there is no requirement for Thai nationals who are living overseas to purchase travel/health insurance when they visit Thailand for a holiday. I have looked into obtaining travel insurance for from the UK for a 2 month+ period for a 16 year old but it seems very difficult. I wondered if it is possible to buy this type of insurance within Thailand itself (i.e. from a Thai insurance company/broker) rather than buying from the UK for example. I know you can buy short-term domestic travel insurance if you are living in Thailand. Thanks in advance
  10. I am interested in hiring a football pitch for my son and his friends. I am thinking one with a roof would be better or indoor place in case it rains heavily on the day we go. Can anyone recommend one? I saw Jaguar Mae Jo but that's a bit far away. All Star Arena is a possibility and I have tried calling them but no answer. Many thanks
  11. exactly my thoughts, good luck WG.
  12. My branch (where I opened my account) is the one at Plaza 89, Nong Hoi and I can always get statements the same day. Never asked for a year but I have requested 6 months and no issue. Maybe change branch?
  13. They might ask for a copy of every page of your bank book like they did with me and some others. Might be worth copying all the pages just in case they request it, otherwise you will have to come back and maybe experience a delay.
  14. they only require two months of bank statements (which they accepted).
  15. I see at the discretion of the officer, so anything goes. Now I understand the differences people have experienced.
  16. With me that just required 60 days bank statement as per the instructions they gave me (plus the bank certificate). I also bank with Bangkok Bank. They did want copies of the entire savings book though. (2019 onwards).
  17. Interesting, I wish they would update their requirements list if that is the case. The requirements seem inconsistent depending on the officer reviewing based on comments on this thread.
  18. Unsure @Bill97maybe you could enlighten me seeing as you seem to be following my threads....
  19. Same as me. I copied to 2022 but not sufficient...Wanted the whole book back to 2019..????
  20. Same with me! The requirement is that you photocopy every page of your passport that has a Thai stamp so I did that this year only to be handed back about 30 pages of copies saying they weren't required.... I just wish they would be consistent so we know what to prepare. Nothing more annoying than being given back lots of paper they say isn't required or being told that you need to go and get more copies of something that isn't required according to their list of requirements... Good job it's only once a year!
  21. Interestingly due to Songkran holidays (I presume) I got more than 30 days under consideration. I must return on May 19th.
