  1. Thanks, I did think I was dreaming….i think my current deal of 18k a month is just unbeatable….I would love to drive an electric though!❤️
  2. Does anyone know if I can lease an electric car like the BYD Atto 3 for a year at around 18-20k a month? or am I dreaming?
  3. Saw it today - looked in good nick to be fair…..only issue was a problem with the sensor at the back but would be fixed. owner said car no problems and she had gotten parts etc when needed. had book and service info etc. any questions I could ask?
  4. 250k - I’m looking at it tomorrow. Any advice? Currently been renting an mg zs for 18k month. For around a year and 7 months. Plan was to just rent rest of this year and we have another year extension on our contract after that we don’t know might leave might stay. This option is from a neighbour in our village who says is leaving in summer. We could have this money in 2 months so it’s relatively cheap.
  5. Hi, opportunity to buy a Chevrolet captiva from 2011 with 68km on it. It is cheap and currently we have been renting for nearly 2 years. With at least another year here, maybe 2 then I am thinking this might be worth it instead of renting. a few years back someone said to me they wouldn’t touch Chevrolets….think it was the time they pulled out of Thailand. thoughts? Like can you get parts to fix etc here? Thoughts on the car etc? thanks, we are not car people. We use a car to drive to and from work with the kids everyday. Use it for trips to the beach and travel inside Thailand. Currently renting an mg zs.
  6. I have a Driving license from a European country. I also have a Thai driving license. I want to go on holiday to Australia and rent a car. Do I need an international driving license to rent a car and drive over there and if so how do I get one? Thanks
  7. Ok, thanks for answering. Yes, they have spread it over a few months...they say it's better and I suppose they know better. They have spread it from August to December. Does that mean that after that, my salary and my wife's will return to what it was?
  8. Yes, they pay for the tickets. I started working in August 2022. This is my second year. So even though my salary goes up 1500 THB a month I am losing 1000THB per month. Like I said my wife is losing 5000 THB a month. I am not complaining, I am very happy with the salaries. I am just asking whether this is only due to the fact that they paid for our flights and it's our bonus year? Thanks
  9. Hi, might be a daft question but who knows?! This is my second year of a 2 year contract. I have signed on for at least another year. My net income was 201,000 THB a month, this year I am getting a flight allowance and a bonus after 2 years. As a result my tax goes up from my new contract in August. As per the calculations I have been shown my salary goes up by 1500 THB a month but due to increase tax I will receive 200,000 THB a month. I know that's only 1000 less, however my wife's net salary was about 169,000 THB a month but she has received flight allowances for her and kids as well as a bonus all which are taxable we have been told. Therefore as per the calculations shown, she will receive 164,000 THB starting her new contract. That's 5,000 THB less. Is all this normal?
  10. Been renting an mg zs for a year and a half paying 18k a month. Think we will be in Thailand for the rest of this year and one more. Can I rent an electric car for a similar price if I rent long term? Is it worth it? I just like the idea of an electric car. Thanks!
  11. Does anyone know trustworthy long term rental options - I’ve seen a company in Hua Hin - name something like huahin chaam car rental and they seem to have very new modern MGs and xpander for about 18/19K if you rent for a year. anyone heard of them or know of any other good companies? been offered an MG zs for 18k a month.
  12. Hi, we rented for a year at 16k for a ford ecosport. we are into our second year of a two year contract. We will know in December if we renew for another year. what should we do? Just rent same for another year? Are there any better rental options? I wouldn’t mind to pay a little more for a bigger/better car. thanks
  13. Celerio is too small, I have 2 kids and need space.
  14. If you were an expat with a family who needs car to go everywhere - mostly work everyday and sometimes trips to beach road trips on holidays etc….but you might only be here one or two more years and then have to sell before you leave…..would you still buy an electric vehicle? And if so which? currently we rent for 16k month - a petrol car since August. Thanks
  15. Thanks for motor show tip - I’ll try to go to that….however, still hearing different things about getting finance. I lived in Thailand for 4 years but then left for a year and now back since august. im hearing from some people that with a 200k downpayment or more and my payslips since august and work permit I’ll get finance. but also hearing from others that i won’t get finance without a Thai guarantor and 12 months on my work permit. so I guess that’s a Thailand thing where no one can say what the rule is and if it’s followed. anyone have any ideas? Also….what about the new Honda Wrv? between Toyota veloz, honda Wrv?
  16. What about an MG over the veloz or Brv - more difficult to sell later on? Is it a better car though? The MG ZS is more of an SUV…. The Hrv and cross are too expensive.
  17. How is the veloz with power? I’ve read that it struggles over taking etc? currently renting a ford ecosport and that is fine for us - does the job. It’s smaller than the veloz so I imagine the veloz will struggle more with power? We are a family of 4 - 2 small kids - is it too big? It looks really long…. I like the price, it’s the cheapest…..but it does look long and big….I also like the cross and hrv but they are too expensive. the other option is the Brv but that is also more expensive… WHAT A HEADACHE
  18. Long term rental think 3 years is the minimum and then there is a penalty if you end early. also isn’t rental just a waste of money?? if I buy I can sell….recoup some money… there are some chr but they do look small. my kids are 1 and 3 - I want safe cars and airbags - I think the veloz and the Brv both have. I would like a compact suv but can’t see any for under a million. I need to buy on Loan but don’t wanna spend too much so I can pay off quick. I might leave in a year or 2 - would need to pay off and sell…. THIS IS A HEADACHE! Currently paying 16k rental, starting to think I should just keep doing this.
  19. Like what? I only really trust toyotasure for second hand and I need loan so they can provide. what’s a decent used car??
  20. Anyone recommend somewhere you n this region with someone who speaks good english? I already have a contact at Honda who speak good english. Also, is the Toyota alive test drive center also a dealership? Can I just show up there? thanks
  21. Thanks! I appreciate your advice. Are there any other similar models that I should look at for a similar price? We are currently renting a Ford ecosport - family with 2 small kids but can’t see any similar compact SUVs that are in this price range.
  22. It looks like it’s between those two. Before we test drive em - does one stand out as a winner? will need to sell it after our contract is done in Thailand so that’s something ti think about…. looking for opinions and advice on whether one car is better than the other. Thanks!
