Thai health officials worried about growing number of fat kids
SuperSilverHaze replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Much of Asia has many strikes against kids because there are few proper play / green areas and it's so hot much of the year. Play areas could be created, times set aside in the morning for national exercise. That would be a great start but ultimately the empty calories must go In Bangkok it's pretty serious. Years back you'd have confidence the kids would sort themselves out in university. Now, everyone too sedimentary. Lots of fat university students Sugared, high calorie drinks and snacks everywhere. Such a shame bc Thai women so lovely when slim. -
Sure they can be. You hook into something big out of dumb luck and the corporations that surround you provide support. As you climb you meet people that can help. Loads of drama in the Kardashian/ Jenner family. Kardashian was successful lawyer who then worked on OJ Simpson murder trial. Lots of idiots with money in this world

Should co-owners pay for EV scooter charging.
SuperSilverHaze replied to Cricky's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
The outlets should be covered. Outlets placed there for convenience of cleaning crews, vehicle owners to use if needed. The intention of plugs is was not to charge individual batteries of individual people to be used off premises. It's theft. Actively using electricity, taking electricity is entirely different than indirectly using/not random amenities such as lightning or swimming pool. Moreover, there is tacit approval to maintain the lights, pool for the common good. This determination never made about giving away free electricity - possibly to abnb renters even. -
Have you ever gone more than 48 hours without sleep?
SuperSilverHaze replied to Tayida's topic in Health and Medicine
Yes, many times although I can't say I didn't collapse here and there for few minutes Always while in transit, often arrival departure issues, logistics, long flights -
While you are correct in theory - I find the reality quite different. My uncle was a master teacher and taught writing into his 60s. He played tennis into his 90s. Most Thai teachers for a myriad of reasons are absolutely toast by mid fifties if not earlier. Most people in general are coasting in their jobs and careers 50+. Many poor and burned out teachers gravitate to high paid, no productivity positions I do still have energy and some creativity despite my age but I'm nothing like when I was 40.

Night bus ride to leave the country
SuperSilverHaze replied to Cuadrado's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Always have passport checked superficially when doing BKK -south Thailand - BKK routes up and back. Army.. no clue what they're looking at. Really, on the bus looking for illegals... Burmese -
I've always found Thai teachers work much harder than foreign teachers. It's never even been a question. While I agree about the perks, I disagree on their free time. I've always found that the school over utilizes Thai teachers and drags them into everything. The grading periods end of term Thai teachers far more involved

Obviously not qualified if no pay raise in ten years. I increased my pay 150% over nine years. I know what I'd do too!! Stop working at that school, get off my lazy ass, retrain and get a real job. Remember that Thai teachers are making somewhere around 30 to b40,000 depending on where they are in their careers. I find that most people think that they're qualified do so simply because they've been teaching a number of years. In reality, they are fairly incompetent and really have no idea how to deliver a learning experience in the classroom. Probably lack a work ethic as well.

Well, as far as listening goes there's YouTube as well as hundreds of other websites. Thousands of movies and series... Thai accent generally speaking is fine. They don't need to necessarily speak with those with L1 language abilities - they just need to converse amongst themselves. The notion that the teacher is the best or sole conduit for speaking/language acquisition is wrong. 1:20-30-40-50 is not a successful ratio Some of the worst accents outside Philippines coming out of Scotland, N England and pockets of London. Native speakers to model speech can be a poor idea.

Teachers need to go at 55 actually. Most if not all Thai teachers above that age are worthless and spent. I'd say thirty years and out. Like States, no one wants to teach due to conditions and pay. So, left with lots of gay, lazy, incompetent... Solution is easy. Overhaul the entire system especially pay, incentive. Introduce university loan payback schemes, perks.

The notion people can walk into a classroom and learning happens needs to be shot like the mad dog idea it is. No clue what they are doing No energy 60+ to even keep up let alone excel. Stand on your feet 6 hrs a day? 30k pm most retirees will scoff despite having zero teaching, educational background, experience I started teaching at 55 retired. It took four years of self training for me to feel comfortable in the classroom. My experience with most experienced 65yo + teachers is that that the work ethic is generally better than 30+ crowd but the classroom is pretty dire learning experience

I've been mulling a blog for years caught up in both the platform, spider web of social media but most important payment. I want nothing to do with PayPal certain. Anyone know a payment system my wife can easily set up that will facilitate ad revenue, sales and amazon referral links? My friend offered up Veem.
