Oh, please pay attention.  It isn't 2.2% - it's gone down to 2.0%.  And as for S&P 500 funds, the S&P is trading at a P/E ratio of 27 suggesting it's seriously overpriced, and it is heavily invested in a very narrow range of tech companies.  NVIDIA 7.2%, Apple 6.7%, Microsoft 6.2% are the top three holdings.   NVIDIA's P/E ratio is 68.6, Apple's 36.8, and Microsoft 34.7.  The level of growth implied by these figures is almost certainly unobtainable.

And finally there's the foreign exchange risk.  So, whilst the S&P has done very well over the last few years, there's no reason to assume that that level of performance will continue, and plenty of reasons to assume it won't.

This is an oft repeated fallacy.  You need to factor in exchange rates.  It wouldn't take much of a shift in the GBP/THB exchange rate to wipe out any potentially higher returns from investing offshore.  In fact, the existence of arbitrage means that you would expect to get exactly the same return from both onshore and offshore deposits.

Yes.  At the top end, Thailand's hotels are amongst the best in the world.  Capella, Four Seasons, The Siam, The Sukhothai, Dusit Thani, Mandarin Oriental, Banyan Tree.  All exquisite.  And there are others.

Ridiculous.  Image you had a banking system that only sometimes worked.  Missed transactions.  Failed to let you log in.  Had incomplete validation of input.  Would you consider that acceptable?  I know I wouldn't.  The difference is, if my bank were like that I'd change bank.  Unfortunately, one can't do that with Immigration.  You are holding Immigration to what is (in my opinion) an unacceptably low standard.

 

Do make sure that the hospital banks with one of the banks which can receive more than 50,000 baht per transfer.  Most can't.

Looking at this logically, TM47 is an address reporting system.  All they really need are your nationality and passport number plus your current address.  Everything else is superfluous.

They don't need your date of birth.  They don't need your arrival card number or date of arrival or how you arrived.  They don't need your type of visa or extension of stay expiry date.  They don't need your gender.  They already have all this information.

So, whilst it's nice that they contacted you quickly, they should never have even been asking for the visa finish date.  They even admitted already having that information and told you the correct date.  In other words, utterly pointless.

I wouldn't call it brilliant service by any means.  It's simply pointless bureaucracy propping up totally inadequate IT systems.

They put red stars next to some input field, I'm guessing to indicate they are mandatory.  However, forename is not flagged as such, even though it is required.  There are other fields, too, I believe.

I just wonder who actually developed this system.

Well, apart from the time when I submitted by mail and never received confirmation.  I had to go to the office and search through a vast manual ledger looking for where they'd received my mail in report.  Total waste of my time.  (Admittedly, this was about 15 years ago, and at a provincial office, so maybe they've improved things since then.)
