  1. Backhome every 4 MCB´s need to be protected by 1 RCCB. Is that the same practice here in Thailand? I read that some of you use RCBO´s instead of RCCB´s. In my understanding, a RCBO is a RCCB and MCB combined. Does this mean every circuit has its own RCBO? The obvious advantage of this is that when there is a fault, only 1 circuit will be cut off instead of 4 circuits. Are there any other advantages to justify the price difference between the 2 systems? I will have quite a few circuits. I have another question about the central earth bar box in bathrooms. Backhome we are allowed to connect the central earth bar in each bathroom to the closest conduit instead of running the copper cable all the way to the Main box. Is that allowed here in Thailand as well? TIA
  2. although in a lower budget range, we had the same issues with moo baans houses in bkk. The price quality ratio just doesn't seem to add up. It seems to me that you are paying a lot for just the image to live in an expensive moo baan, while the building costs of the house itself is kept to a minimum. we decided to buy land and build ourselves. we do want a gated community, so we ended up buying on a golf course. Somebody mentioned 'the prime nature' which we loved but it was out of our budget.
  3. Do different brands of aerated bricks differ a lot in their properties? Are AAC bricks the same as aerated bricks? If not, what is the difference? In their comparison they use 10cm bricks and those fastbricks seem quite a bit cheaper. I understand that they use this comparison to promote their product (so might not be 100%), but it does look interesting to me.
  4. Those fastbricks seems to insulate better than Qcon. They are not just random concrete bricks. Anybody on here who have used them before?
  5. Thx for your reply. I am not familiar with the term MEN, I will research on it! I am now comfortable with an E-N link in the main board. Found out that back home the same link is made, just not visible. I didn't know that N doesn't need to be switched. In the countries I lived in, the use of 1P breakers is definitely not allowed. If N doesn't need to be switched, any idea of why 1P breakers are prohibited? I don't want to overcomplicate things so I will follow the local codes. N-E link, 1p breakers and all N's connected. Just want to research a bit to make me feel more comfortable with it.
  6. I have visited quite a few building sites and nowhere DPC was being used in the walls. Everywhere damp-proof membrane was laid under the slab where it touches the soil (not on top of the ground floor beams) but haven't seen DPC being used in the outer walls. Is this common practice in Thailand? Is it because of the concrete beam/post construction technique? I assume because of the concrete posts, seamless DPC all around the building is not possible? Is the risk of uprising damp less than in Europe (due to the hot climate)? Anybody on here who did manage to use DPC on their build? Thank you!
  7. Please forgive me if I don't use the proper thermology, I am not a native English speaker... I am familiar with 2Pole breakers where both L and N are secured. Also, E has its own circuit which runs to the copper rod outside into the ground. I understand that here in Thailand 1P breakers are being used and that all N are linked in the mainboard. Also, there is an E-N link in the mainboard which confuses me. Instinctively, I feel that E can become live? After reading a few stories on this forum where E did become live, I am a bit worried. Can anybody please explain to me why all N's are linked and don't go through the breakers? Is it allowed by PEA if I do use 2P breakers (so all N's are not being linked) and leave out the N-E link in the mainboard? Basically following the codes of some European countries I lived in. I did read on this forum that N-E are linked in all countries but that the actual link is not visible to the consumer. So, if I do link E with N in the mainboard, is it still ok to use 2P breakers? Thank you!
