  1. Man, I need to get into the Debt business, I would have said no more payments needed after they paid back double the cash, and I would have smiled at them and said "great doing business with you".
  2. If you relieve household debt in Thailand, they will just go out and buy more stuff with new loans putting them back in the same debt situation. The objective should be education and limiting their ability to obtain loans (especially for depreciating assets) of which they will most certainly never repay.
  3. It's that fate thing, and since they do it every day, and haven't died yet, it must be safe enough. If they do the same thing a 1000 times, and haven't crashed or died yet, well then why change their ways? They have no problem playing the odds, which leads to lots of dead people. They don't see risk or safety the way we do, and never will. Until there is a real government, one that takes safety seriously, and installs a real police force to enforce the law, things will never change.....Ever.
  4. It's sort of like a poor Thai farmer driving around in a shiny Mercedes or BMW, which he can't afford, it's all about the bling!
  5. If your are a pedestrian, or in a vehicle of any kind in Thailand, your safety means nothing to the Thai public. The only thing they care about is your wallet, your happiness is also less important.
  6. Oh sure make a statement like that after I open a bottle of Shiraz, I could now end up drinking the whole bottle, if my wife complains tomorrow....its your fault :-P
  7. Currently, my wife declares me on her taxes, and uses my Pink ID as the TIN. So as far as filing taxes, I assume I am already doing that, but like I said earlier, I will refrain from sending any money here in 2024, and wait and see what happens to others first. With any luck, they will drop the whole fiasco before I send any money money over after 2024.
  8. I'd rather be back in the USA, I lived in a small town in the Northeast (w/potholes), but I was driving a brand new fully loaded Jeep Rubicon before I came here, it made winter FUN! I miss the slow life back there, Bangkok is like living in Hell to me, I would trade in a heartbeat if my wife and daughter would agree to leave. As you can see, I lost that battle so far, still holding out hope for a miracle though.
  9. Everyone has their problems to deal with, I am going with not sending a dime over next year (2024). The plan is to see what the rest of you go thru first, let the guinea pigs work out the kinks first, then I can decided to bring in more money in 2025 and deal with taxes in 2026, or just move back to the states.
  10. I find the injured counts here to be horrifying, there is only 67 million people here, 1 million people are injured in car/motorcycle accidents every year in Thailand. If those numbers don't scare them, I don't what will.
  11. When I came here in 2016, I think my first one took a week or two longer.....no big deal, like your lawyer said, you are OK.
  12. I got an idea, trade in the BMW's, Mercedes, and Tesla police cars for Toyotas, then put computers and police officers in them, then patrol the streets and enforce traffic laws. What was I thinking, hey Anutin? Pass the the bong!
  13. Wow, they really do believe the citizens are gullible/naive.
  14. Does being "inactive" mean they can't rape and bribe others while at the provincial police command?
  15. ...and now said "general" is on the Privy Counsel, where he can never be brought up on charges for what he has done to the country. Amazing Thailand!
  16. These situations should just be handled by sending the bill for emergency treatment and repatriation to the foreigners home country, if not paid, then force all who come from that country to show proof of insurance covering their stay before boarding. Let the foreign countries deal with insurance issues, or for any repayment to their own governments.
  17. This pretty much accentuates how upside-down Thailand really is, and that things will never change here, sad.
  18. Like the last PM, they would fall under the "village idiot" category.
  19. Middle Cass and up would be sending their kids to an international school with decent to fairly good English programs, everyone else, not so much.
  20. Saudi Arabia is not Israel! And a counterstrike of long range Iranian drones? Come on, the odds of that having any effect, is about NILL. They have no Airforce, so their won't be any fighter or bombers heading towards Israel. Then you are expecting to shoot down F35I's returning to Israel with what exactly? Yes, you are blowing a lot of hot air.
  21. What hot air? They have all the capabilities to handle Iran, what exactly does Iran have? Do they even have an functioning airforce? In fact, do they even have a single fighter jet flying? Their navy? LOL those little boats they send out to harass shipping lanes is not going to cut it. Then you mention Drones, if thats their only form of defense they should probably throw the towel in now.
  22. Which they can and will, Iran is not going to be allowed to keep funneling weapons to terrorist groups unabated, you'd be naive to believe Israel will just sit back and let that continue to happen. I would expect Israel to bomb Iranian nuclear and military sites in the future, probably after they finish mopping up what's left of Hamas and Hezbollah fighters.
