  1. Does the Thai tax return have a section for applying Foreign Earned Remitted income, and is there a worksheet that defines what it assessable, or not? Meaning we would have to file a return for all money remitted to Thailand, then use a worksheet to reduce out exposure to taxes based on a DTA's, etc?
  2. Wouldn't it be easier to just let us pay our taxes in our home countries, which we also state we are out of the country for whatever amount of days anyway, then maybe add an area for which country we reside in, and then let Thailand and the Home country tax authority decide who gets what behind the scenes? Since I am just a guest in this miserable hellhole anyway, why treat us like permanent residents?! My main objective is to not file taxes in Thailand, ever.
  3. Can I borrow one of these million dollar credit cards? 🤪
  4. Not sure I would even leave the house with only 50-100 baht, I want at least a thousand and more like 3 thousand, just in case.
  5. Love the fact that the motorcyclist is wearing a helmet, but the child's safety is forgotten.
  6. I'm still going with the wait and see attitude, I was just thinking of padding my account a little more to accommodate all of 2025 just in case things are still not set in stone. The whole Remitted part is the absurd part of this, either tax us on worldwide income, or not. I would like to avoid filing any taxes here in Thailand though, or have to explain where my money comes from, it comes from Wise.....no other explanation needed. I files taxes in the US where the money is sourced, I don't feel like handing them any information about any accounts held there, because I don't trust anyone in Thailand to have that info, even my wife 🤪
  7. Anyone know if the money we bring back when we come in on an airplane is considered assessable income? If I understand correctly, we don't even need to declare anything over 450,000 baht (or USD 15,000), correct? So no paper trail of where it came from, or would the issue arrive after I try to deposit it in my Thai bank account? https://aip.caat.or.th/2023-12-28-AIRAC/html/eAIP/VT-GEN-1.3-en-GB.html#:~:text=1 Any person leaving or,when carrying over 450%2C000 THB.
  8. Umm....I think he would if he could, be careful what you ask for.
  9. I take his advice with a grain of salt, I still don't want to be one of the first Guinea pigs in this mess, I hope he is right......but I'm not betting on it.
  10. You mean the one everyone has been fighting about in other threads, and interpreting whatever way they wish? Skimmed....but basically I gave up. I'll wait until we hear official word from the Thai government on how this whole mess is going to be handled for foreigners, at least before I send any more money over here. I'm also waiting to hear back on those first few foreigners (Guinea pigs) that file their taxes next year.
  11. The problem is, who is deciding what "assessable income" is, and how would anyone verify that is, or is not?
  12. Well, overseas Thailand is more known for what foreigners consider a lawless society (which it almost is), sex everywhere you look, and partying without consequences. Not saying I believe any of that is completely true, but that's the perception, and these types of people head for places like Pattaya, Phuket, seedier sides of Bangkok, etc. My wife asked me before we met (that was back in the USA), if I had ever visited Pattaya, I told her I never visited Thailand, let alone Pattaya. She said if I had visited Pattaya, she probably would have never dated me, glad I answered correctly.....LOL
  13. I'm annoyed at the insulting and dangerous behavior of Thais every time I drive down the road, or try to walk down a sidewalk without being hit by a motorcycle, and God forbid I dare to use a Zebra crossing.
  14. I wonder what they would say if we had our pictures taken wearing one of those nifty government employee outfits with all the badges on them 🤪
  15. The worry would be letting Thai's access any sensitive foreign information, that could allow scammers to steal our foreign assets. Not sure about you, but I wouldn't trust any Thai, especially a Thai government employee to have my sensitive financial information. It's one thing to do the mundane extension paperwork every year, but giving any type of sensitive and private financial information to a foreign government entity, and one with close ties to China?! I'd rather not!
  16. It's not just police corruption, its a police force in name only, they need to actually start working for a living. When is the RTP going to actually make Thai society safer? You know like enforcing road rules/laws, and making it safer for pedestrians to travel (i.e. Sidewalks and Zebra Crossings). I have been here for 8 years, and I have never seen a single police officer doing any work, let alone meaningful work, they seem to do nothing all day. They have the same number of police officers for 100,000 of the population that the USA has, but none of them are actually doing anything all day. I assume they spend their entire day working on building long-lasting corruption connections, and stuffing their pockets with the ill-gotten gains. Disband the RTP, start over, and don't hire any previous officers from the ranks of the RTP. After that investigate all previous officers in high-ranking positions for unusual wealth, then prosecute and jail them for life.
  17. Well, it's your own fault for putting that 10,000 baht in the card for his recovery 🤪
  18. Not always, my license has my Pink ID number. But I have also carried my passport with me whenever I leave the house, its in a passport wallet.
  19. Yeah, I kind of avoided that more because the Big Bike gets me out in front of anyone else much quicker, and I could then find open space to keep a cushion between them and myself. Though I would try to ride when things aren't congested, if it is, I just drive the car instead.
  20. I found that cars and trucks weren't the real issue on the road when riding my big bike, they are way easier to manage. The real issue is the other idiots on motorcycles and scooters flying by way to close for comfort, and changing lanes without signaling or even looking, I am convinced they are on a suicide mission.
  21. Nothing scares me more than knowing Thai's might try running a Nuclear Power plant.
