Report Thailand Set to Revamp Drone Laws to Boost Commercial Use
lordgrinz replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Drone laws here aren't worth the effort to have one, maybe for Thai's, but not worth the effort for farangs. -
Which is why I'll just wait it out, not super concerned, I mainly use my wife's Credit Card for everything, she wants the points. I use SCB mainly for little items from Lazada, some QR code payments on the street, and for immigration. I could live without it for a short time if needed. In a pinch I could use my Wise debit card too, so no biggie. SCB bank and True didn't seem to be too concerned, so why should I?

Still haven't gotten any warning from SCB bank, and my wife contacted True and they told her not to worry if the number was registered before a few years ago. The number is registered in my wife's name. Have had this sim/number on my phone for probably 7-8 years now. We got it as part of our True cable and internet package. I'm just going to wait it out, not worth stressing out over.

The Vietnamese will get the quality Chinese tourists, Thailand will get the Chinese scammers and criminals, as Thailand is openly corrupt and easy pickings for the international criminals to exploit. The lack of enforcement of laws/rules/regulations here in Thailand makes it a goldmine for criminals from all over the World.

Transport Driving Licence Renewals Go Digital: No More Tests Needed
lordgrinz replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Maybe they can base it off the new point system, those with no infractions or accidents can renew online every 10 years (Upload photo?). Those with infractions or at-fault accidents will be notified to renew in-person, and be required to retest as well. -

Yeah, good luck with that explanation, but then again the RTP can be encouraged to support this fabrication. Nothing that a thick brown envelope can't fix. -
Transport Driving Licence Renewals Go Digital: No More Tests Needed
lordgrinz replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Seems like another scheme subject to corruption, everyone will be getting a license without ever being physically checked or evaluated in anyway. Though it should excite those who can make a few extra Baht getting the blind a driver license. -
Don't forget a 5th charge, as his license expired in 2021, which means technically he is an unlicensed driver, and would have to take the driving license testing all over again as it is way past the 1 year grace period for renewal. He may also end up with a 6th charge for speeding through the toll booths, that speed was another factor in the initial incident.

Has anyone got any more information on this Lopez-Gomez person? The mother waved a birth certificate in court like it was the Holy Grail, but he has lived since he was 1 yr old until his 16-17 birthday in Mexico. Does he hold a US Passport for his time in Mexico? Did he have a Mexican passport? What ID did he use to cross back into the USA? I am sure this played into what happen, but as usual we get only the sob story part. This is more a reason than any to update US citizen ID's, birth certs and SS numbers are ancient, and open to fraud. One thing I applaud Thailand for is how they handle it here, my daughter at 7 yrs old gets a Thai ID with photo and fingerprint info stored to backup her claim.
