My Grandson is coming to Thailand 30 September to 21 October and wants to stay in Pattaya. I have no knowledge of Pattaya and room costs and would welcome some help in finding a budget room for him. I saw a video on You Tube this week where a Brit said he had found a room in Katsiree House for £6 a night, but when I looked at the website it was about 800 baht nightly. I am unable to give him the money for a room because my pension just about covers my own living costs, my state pension having been frozen since 2010. I would appreciate any guidance on rooms with in the range of £6 to £9 per night that I could pass on to him. Thank you

I apologise but I am not clear about the process of obtaining a 60 day tourist visa at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Do you have to go to a special desk before the actual Immigration booths or do you just present you Passport to the normal Immigration booths. At 87 this all beyond me and I don't want to give my friends who are coming to see me, false and wrong information. Also is there a cost please, Thank you

I have a friend coming to Thailand at end of September for a short holiday, Reading the various blogs on the net they all seem to say 20k THB but cash not necessary but can show bank statement as proof of financial support. They have already booked a Hotel for their stay, From experience is Bank Statement okay?

Gentlemen, I have it all wrong! Apparently all I require is an English speaking lawyer to be present when The UK Land Registry Form TR1 (Transfer of Ownership) is signed. I remember very well signing such a form in 2008 when I divorced my ex. She then paid me 50% and we went our different ways. So just need find a lawyer who will not charge the earth and can speak and understand English.

We are selling our property in the UK. We have agreed the price. The purchaser will come to Bangkok for the signing and to transfer the funds to our UK bank in our presence. Prior to signing we will receive a copy of the contract. We would wish to have that contract reviewed by a lawyer (appreciate no solicitors in Thailand.) The purchaser will pay cash. They are also known to us for many years. I am too old to travel back the broken society of the UK. We are therefore looking for a lawyer who will review the contract and to whom we can discuss any related matters in our presence. I note that Siam-Legal might be a possibility but would like a choice Many thanks

"The United States shares a very important relationship, which is an alliance with the Republic of North Korea," Harris said. Nuff said!

You saved me a job by answering. Do wish people would stop being selective. Suppose it supports their dislike of the next POTUS.

Has the tax implications of the 2024 change of policy been resolved whether foreigners such as myself are concerned. I watched a You Tube presentation last night, in which the Tax Adviser stated that the DTA between Thailand and the UK (I'm UK citizen) will only be applied to pension income arising from Police, Military and Civil Service pensions. Private pensions and State pension would be subject to Thai tax, if income threshold was met by the value of incoming funds from these pensions. Elsewhere there is disagreement and say pensions in general will not be taxed. Meanwhile the Thai Tax Revenue Dept are not offering any indication of what the position of people is. I would like some clarity if possible.

Just been informed I'm not allowed to ask that type of question in Thailand. If so, my apologies. -

Thanks yes. Tricky one this because she intends to travel on her UK passport as a UK citizen. Immigration appear unable to grasp this because she is coming from The Philippines.

Grateful if you could advise if The following is viable: 1. GF obtains a Visa Exempt and is stamped for 60 days. Apparently because she is based in Philipiines she is not eligible to apply for EVisa! 2. During 60 days we marry. 3. Following marriage we travel to a Thai Consulate, probably in Penang since we hope to live in Hua Hin and obtain a Non O 4. Once obtained, she can piggy back as a dependant on me. Many thanks

Change of plans. Having done a lot of research I have come to the conclusion that the infrastructure in Ph is rubbish with constant brown outs almost daily. The cons outweigh the pros.
