  1. I just completed this quiz. My Score 20/100 My Time 254 seconds
  2. Oh dear. I'm still OK, continuing to use the Edge browser. You said yesterday, that you were asked to "Trust this device." I wasn't even asked to do this. It's got to be a glitch at Lloyds end.
  3. I just completed this quiz. My Score 40/100 My Time 87 seconds
  4. Resolved!!! All by itself. Amazing! I logged on this morning, expecting to be given a OTP --- but was taken straight to the website. I logged off, and on again just to see if it was the same, and it was. I guess it must have been a glitch at Lloyds, and that someone at their end has just decided to rectify it.
  5. Many thanks NowNow for your very comprehensive reply.
  6. OK, scrolling back through my AIS messages, I see that on renewal I paid THB2,500 for 4Mbps for 12 months. Does this help?
  7. As I said, I'm not very pc literate --- but thank you for your reply. I did as you suggested and the SMS which came back was in Thai. My Thai lady told me that basically, the message said that I had very fast internet speed for "anywhere", but gave no indication of the numbers which you mentioned.
  8. For the last 2 years, I've been going to the AIS shop in Big C, Pattaya Thai to renew my contract. Is it easy --- or even possible to do it from home using a bank transfer from Bangkok Bank? My girlfriend paid THB1,800 last time and I think I paid THB2,500. The reason for the price difference is because I need the "faster/more powerful" speed, since I use my phone as a hotspot in order to operate my laptop. I'm not an overly pc literate person, hence my asking, "Is it easy?" I live in Jomtien so, if it's beyond my capability it's no great hardship to visit the AIS shop.
  9. Nope, still the same. I guess I'll just have to put up with the small inconvenience.
  10. OK, so I just tried Chrome and, as expected, I needed to receive a OTP. I'll use Chrome next time I log on, and repot back to you.
  11. No, I've had this laptop since April '22 --- purchased in Tukcom, Pattaya. I went home --- no problem. I returned to Jomtien in March '23 --- no problem --- until recently.
  12. After the memorable info' page, there is a box on the right titled "Help and support." Click on this box, then click on "Why do I need to do this?" Read the 2nd paragraph.
  13. No, my browser is not set to clear each time I log off or close my session.
  14. Many thanks to all respondents. Security is MY responsibility and I never leave browsers open. I am always very careful when it comes to financial matters. I have accounts with various other financial institutions --- none of which insist on sending OTPs every time I log on --- only if I change my browser or clear my cache. I NEVER allow sites to remember my passwords, always entering them myself each time I log on. All of my accounts are personal ones --- I don't have any business accounts. I agree with the answers from some respondents but I reiterate what I said in my post --- If it's not possible to designate my laptop as a trusted device, why is there a suggestion to the contrary when starting the login procedure? Also, as stated in my post, this has only recently begun. David.
  15. I never used to have a problem logging onto Lloyds website using my laptop --- until about 2 or 3 weeks ago. They have now begun insisting on sending a OPC to my mobile every time I wish to log on. I am able to receive this (UK sim) but it's becoming annoying. During the log-in process, there is a box "Why do I have to do this?" or words to that effect. I clicked on it and was informed that I would be able to designate my laptop as a "trusted device" after logging on, but I couldn't find any such facility. Incidentally, My laptop always WAS "my trusted device." I then wasted an hour or more of my time "chatting" to someone whom, it became obvious, didn't know how to resolve the issue. I logged off, and the next time I logged on, there was a message stating that "The OPC had to continue for security reasons." If this is correct, it would have been nice of the chat guy to have told me in the first place. However, I am doubting this guy's word because, why, on logging on, would there be a statement averring that this exercise can be skipped by "designating my laptop as my trusted device?" Any ideas? TIA. David.
  16. I used to be a card-holder (when the cost was either 99 or 199 baht) but I grew weary of asking for the vegetables to be better cooked, usually with the Sunday roast. They are not merely al-dente, I think they are simply dipped in hot water for seconds! I stopped going there (usually Jomtien) for many months, but I did return a few weeks ago. I had interactions with 3 different waitresses --- not one of them proffered a smile, nor even a thank you when I paid my bill --- just the normal wei. I think that it will be a long time before I venture to return. Yes, you do "get what you pay for" BUT, I tried the steak way back, and found it so tough to be almost inedible. If a restaurant cannot provide a reasonably acceptable (eatable) meal for the advertised price, then it should not be on the menu! Although The Gold Monkey, on Thanon Chaiyaphruek increased their prices recently, the meals are still excellent value for money. The specials are priced at 149 baht (except the large Sunday roast which is still excellent value at 179 baht). No loyalty card is required and the meals are cooked to perfection. One particular day which I usually visit is Thursday, when the 149 baht pork steak offered is tender and delicious. I highly recommend this bar/restaurant/live music venue.
  17. Thank you. It certainly appears that the passenger was at fault?
  18. How does one view the video, where is it please?
  19. I bought this Acer laptop in Tukcom in 2022. It was running W10 with a free upgrade to W11 available. The shop offered to activate the upgrade and I accepted. When I got home (to Jomtien) everything froze. I couldn't do anything with it so I took it back to the shop. The guy couldn't understand what had gone wrong, suggesting there may have been a bug in the upgrade. The only "fix" he was able to offer was to revert it to W10. It took him the best part of a whole day but I reluctantly accepted the deal. It was now OK on W10 but, on my return to the UK I kept getting upgrade invitations whenever I logged on. after a while, I bit the bullet and actioned the upgrade. Amazingly, everything went smoothly and I have been operating my laptop on W11 (without issues) ever since. Personally, I didn't notice any big differences between W10 and W11 --- but then, I am not a pc geek. Good luck --- or as we say here, choc dee.
  20. Re: phones. Sometimes, financial institutions insist on sending a text/sms message containing a OTP (one-time passcode) in order for you to confirm your I.D. This commonly occurs when one changes something --- browser e.g., or after clearing your cache/cookies etc. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to receive such a code, you will almost certainly be "denied access."
  21. Please see my reply to TOPT above. I do have a UK mobile phone number for verification purposes.
  22. topt, Thank you, thank you, thank you. Brave did the trick.
  23. Hi folks. I'm using windows 11 Edge browser on my laptop. After several phone calls to Tesco, and being taken through various methods of logging on --- changing my username, password and security number, I am still unable to access my a/c. The site simply refuses to accept my security numbers. The people at Tesco admit that they don't know how to resolve my problem. Even after using a temporary security code (from Tesco) and starting all over again, it still doesn't let me in. The only thing which causes me concern at my end is the clearing, or not, of my cache and cookies. When I go into settings and click on "clear cache", the page changes immediately --- no pause for thought, no buffering, nothing. This is making me wonder if the clearance action has actually been exercised. Up until being locked out (again) I was able to gain access to their site using their app, and via their website on my mobile phone. The problem relates solely to my laptop. Incidentally, I have no problems accessing other financial sites, the issue is only with Tesco. If anyone can suggest how I might resolve this problem, particularly with regard to my cache clearance (or not) I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance. David.
  24. I'm going on a north/northeast tour of Thailand later this year with my Thai lady friend. We live (long term rented condo) in Jomtien. In an attempt to avoid this bureaucracy, would accommodations permit only my Thai lady friend to check us both in --- or perhaps, could I get away with it by just using my Thai driving license?
