Thai universities shine in Times Higher Education World Rankings 2024
Jelli replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
In public school??? Even the top five Thai publics (pub/private) can't boast that. Oh, that's right, you paid 450k a term not 45k a year for real Thai public education. ???? Maybe move to a better neighborhood in states?? -
What a horrible human being. Self entitled, used job to enrich herself. And to hold on to her job until death just says it all. She was completely lost in her last days. Good riddance to bad rubbish

Thai universities shine in Times Higher Education World Rankings 2024
Jelli replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I didn't read the article, but I do follow the qs rankings somewhat. The only University that's making any real move forward in ranking are King Mongkut universities. In particular, Thonburi . Most of the top universities are treading water and even slipping a slot or two last time I really looked closely at the issue Most Thai universities are on the list bc of all the PhDs nothing more. We all know what education is worth here be it a HS diploma or a PhD -
Did you just go on the spur of the moment

You don't understand money or life. There has been technically little to no inflation up until 2018. 1. It's plenty of money 2. You'll stay home saving and worrying until you can't leave OR so old and worried you don't want to risk your precious healthcare ... BS usually anyway and will be g7 bankrupt in a decade regardless So... keep on saving! I called it quits thirty years ago. I've made it until 63 and have a bit more than half of what the sum posted by op. I'm married as well. Once the tiny social security sum kicks in two years that will be 40k THB more. But hey, keep worrying and by all means keep paying taxes! ???? ????????????????????☁️???? -
Thai teachers should be retired after 20 years or 50 yo. Absolutely no part time work after 45 unless it's substituting less than 16 hrs week for no more than 12 weeks in any year. Many Thai teachers are dire but the oldies are just a waste of students time. Foreign teachers without license 50 and with license at 65. Foreign teachers should not be allowed to start work in K12 after 50.

I'd be quite ok with the 32M THB + interest for what appears to be 30 years of life left. I don't even understand why this is posted. What single man can't live in Thailand on like 1.5m THB a year? -
Foreign teachers no longer required to do an education course

I believe so, but you'll still need to meet other criteria such as being employed by a school. You cannot apply independently. -
Hard to say. TBH I didn't read your drama in detail Get on the TCT site and see how many waivers have been recorded. It's possible even with three you can get another. I'd think same school is better rather than worse imo. This shouldn't be a long term plan because even if you get #4 you won't get a fifth. As for your age. If you are over 60 it's my belief that the only way public schools will hire you is if they are doing private insurance not SSO. It's also possible they simply won't hire 60+. I assume you're hirable as you've asked. You don't need convince anyone of anything outside of what is presented in your application. There is no interview or attendant groveling

Thai PM sees a role for Thaksin when he gets out of jail
Jelli replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Yes, it is. There was a comment made berating the Thai system of governance. I merely contrasted that against one of the other 200 countries to make the point that it's no different anywhere else so why expect different. Apologies if that was lost on you. I'll try and kick it down a notch next time. Try and keep up. -
What is the deal with all the skin lasers shops around Bangkok
Jelli replied to DonniePeverley's topic in Bangkok
Magic promises in advertising After single promo purchaed...Pre laser consultation hard sell. If you don't buy a package they tell you after the fact pre-treatment on the day the laser will do nothing. During appointment they dial back the laser and run it over your face. You'll leave with a warm feeling and no results. They don't burn up the laser for promo price and no package. Wife has light spot of melasma. Two cheap promos just a scam. Same with hair removal. All sorts of promises but in the end waxing is better, cheaper and faster -

Not arguing but I don't see how the west is any better. US entirely lost all moral authority decades ago but now days it's brutally clear -

Thailand Ranks Ninth in the World for Country Most Open for Business
Jelli replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They wanted to get this into print before releasing the news of taxing expat income from abroad ???? -
I think we can expect more of this irrational taxation and fees both here in Thailand and our home countries. Thailand is a very odd place. It certainly extends us no favors in trying to live here. Nevertheless, think of what would happen to the banking system if farang we're not banked. https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2021/08/11/foreigners-have-nearly-600-billion-baht-banked/

Indeed, but he could have messaged her. Even something enigmatic signalling she should return... and perhaps for only financial reasons but doesn't mean she has a hand in the death at all. Hanged not hung
