  1. Femoral artery wound will cause that but of course "gawd, you're such a tough w@nka"
  2. I was a victim of bullying until I hit 14. Always told by my parents "it's the bigger man that walks away" Well one day I didn't walk away and I was a good 4 inches taller than my nemesis who would rip into me every day. So the "bigger man" didn't walk away. After that, I never had a problem from sh!thead bullies, although I did get into strife for defending myself from the school admin. My son here in Thailand has been taught...defend yourself but never start a fight
  3. Child abuse / neglect happens worldwide! But hey you just keep on going with your Thai bashing
  4. Well done to the young fella and also his parents for encouraging him. To the naysayers here, I simply ask, what is your biggest achievement besides a world record bar fine / bar tab?
  5. The usual "Welcome to Thailand" insults will follow, but in many countries there are "one punch" murder charges. In Oz I had a mate many years ago. At a pub a little rat started hitting on his wife at the pub. After being told to "go away" many times, my mate gave him one good punch. He fell and struck the base of his skull on the corner of a pool table causing his demise. My mate was sentenced to 15 years because he uttered the words "If you don't eff off I'll kill ya" (Never intended it to be true. But in court it was taken differently. So it is not only Thailand despite what the resident Thai bashers say!
  6. Having worked in the industry for many years I can attest to the quality of Thai, Filipino and other "third world" country workers in the industry. They undertake jobs that many Aussies, Americans and Brits won't do simply because they are grateful for the opportunity rather than feeling "entitled" If you've never worked offshore, you shouldn't comment about those you have NO knowledge of!
  7. The anti-Thai / Thai bashing / derogatory remarks came as expected. And from the expected respondents Sad sacks who assume they are superior to all..w@3kers
  8. Why, when this article seems to indicate suicide, is the thread left open for the usual Thai bashing farangs / ASN detectives, when a similar article about a foreigner will be "CLOSED for Further comment" with a link to Samaritans?
  9. How about if they are against Bibi killing civilians in Gaza?
  10. Since what time in WORLD HISTORY has Israel existed on a world map(atlas) At the same time from what time has Palestine existed on a world map (atlas) If you don't see something wrong with this scenario, YOU are part of the problem. Simple
  11. Before the usual Thai bashing begins in earnest stating lack of maintenance. I worked as a commercial fisherman in Western Australia which has some of the strictest maritime safety laws in Oz. Once on a 68 foot steel long liner, we were 150 NM south of Albany in the Southern Ocean. The vessel had just been surveyed and issued a seaworthiness certificate. On this trip the raw seawater intake pipe developed a leak. As is usual in a case like this we used a wooden cone to plug the hole. Unfortunately, the pipe was so badly corroded that when we hammered the plug into it, it went straight through and enlarged the hole to about two inches in diameter. We abruptly turned back and had all pumps running full bore to cope with the inundation. By the time we got back to port we had less than 12 inches of freeboard! Sometimes, besides the best maintenance practices, things go wrong. No-one has X-ray vision and it is un-realistic to say a whole vessel should be x-rayed. Unless we find out the full details in this particular case, it's unfair to start pointing fingers!
  12. To all the naysaying posters, my wife has been saving every 50 baht note she gets in her change from shopping for the last 8 months. Whilst not 300K, she has amassed 10.5K. Some of the people here need to get a life instead of deriding Thais.
  13. This is the best thread ever! Well Done chaps and chapettes
  14. ...and you are ex-Seal team 6 / SAS no doubt It's a pity some people on this forum berate and deride Thailand and its people. For your information you may find this video useful.
  15. I am just curious. When a foreigner (farang) decides to end their life by a big jump or by other means, the comments are closed automatically by AN. Now we have a young Thai who APPARENTLY chose the same end and comments are left open for all the foreigners to speculate and comment on. Not criticizing, simply raising the question about a double standard Thanks for your anticipated reply.
  16. Longish post sorry, but may be of some use to members. This is unbelievable timing! I was discharged from hospital on 4th of October after having this exact problem! I had bad diarrhea from 25th Sept until 29th when I went to emergency due to excessive sweating (bed was like someone had poured a bucket of water over me) cramps and the diarrhea continuing. In emergency, they took some blood and the results came back as a bacterial infection but ALSO they had detected that the enzyme levels indicated I had had an infarction. I was surprised as I had no chest pain or other symptoms of heart failure. (I had a major heart attack in 2009 and a minor cardiac episode last year with NO symptoms other than extreme fatigue. Other than that have been relatively healthy since.) They insisted I had had a cardiac episode and admitted me to the cardiac intervention ward. I kept asking if the severe dehydration and electrolyte depletion could have caused my enzyme levels to spike and give the indications in the blood test. The answer each time was no despite my enzyme level dropping back down rapidly. During the 5 days in there, I was treated both for the bacterial infection AND congestive heart failure. Finally on the 2nd to last day in hospital, a cardiac specialist who spoke outstanding English came to see me and when I again asked if the dehydration could cause a spike in cardiac enzymes he told me it WAS possible but rare. He advised me to finish the treatment in hospital -Twice daily injections into my abdomen for my heart (not sure of the medication name) and that he would change my medications. I was discharged on the 4th of this month, with new medications for the CHF and no diarrhea, I have been fine since with absolutely no symptoms of anything. After reading the article here, I can tell you all that: 1. If you have acute diarrhea (I was on the toilet up to 12 or more times in every 24 hours) for more than 2 days get to hospital and have them run some blood tests. 2. Yes, you can have a heart episode with NO symptoms. Wishing everyone the best of health.
  17. "The residents of Ubon Ratchathani continue to struggle with rising water levels as the Ubonrat and Lampao dams contribute to the increasing floodwaters in northeast Thailand." "Although the water levels have started to recede, she remains cautious about a potential rise due to a surge of water from the Ubonrat and Lampao dams that continue to discharge into the province." A little contradictory rising V receding...
  18. Congratulations young lady!
  19. And in other news, I found an ingrown hair on my rectum whilst bending over in front of the mirror
  20. Pol Maj Gen Jaroonkiat Pankaew, the Anti- Corruption Division commander ordered a fact-finding committee to look into deliction of duty involving several police officers present at the scene of the highway police shooting. They are authorized to apprehend the offender but they let the gunman to flee. Initially, more than 10 officers will be summoned for questioning tomorrow. (TNA)

  22. I wear plain coloured Tees and Plain shorts / trackies with no branding when training. I have a pair of adidas runners and a pair of brooks trainers, simply because they offer the best support for my dodgy old feet. But at the end of the day does it matter what anyone wears as long as they are relaxed and happy?
  23. I, was a victim of bullying from 1st to 3rd year of high school in Oz back in the 80's due to my being from a poor family. Finally on one fateful day I lost it and ignored the "It takes the better man to walk away advice" and fought back after the POS nemesis spat in my lunch. We both learned a good lesson that day. He learned don't do it again. Me I learned I could fight and went on to State Champ and National number 2 before retiring. Bullies need a come-uppance. Just maybe not a knife
