The technician, who worked for a contracted company, was found dead with severe head injuries after being crushed by the elevator's counterweight, which weighs approximately two tons. According to the initial investigation, the technician was repairing one side of the elevator when he accidentally dropped a wrench into the adjacent shaft. As he leaned in to retrieve the tool, the counterweight, which was still in operation, descended and struck him, resulting in his immediate death. Authorities have begun questioning the technician’s colleagues to gather more details. It is believed that the incident was an accident that occurred during routine maintenance work. The body has been sent to Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute for an autopsy. Mr. Kittipong Kittikhachorn, Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport, who was on official business abroad at the time, stated that he had ordered a full investigation to determine the true cause of the accident. He clarified that the incident was not caused by the elevator malfunctioning and falling. Mr. Kittipong also emphasized that the contractor responsible for the technician's work must provide full support and compensation to the victim’s family. Forensic officers were dispatched to the scene following a report, where they gathered crucial evidence and information from witnesses. Witnesses revealed that before the incident, a household member had purchased a drain cleaner to resolve a blockage in the bathroom. The product, described as being in an opaque white bottle with a red cap, was later found by forensic officers in a trash bin, with some liquid remaining at the bottom. In the bathroom, four partially used bottles of a common bathroom cleaning product were also discovered. According to Lt. Gen. Trirong, witnesses indicated that the drain cleaner had been used about three hours before the officers arrived. Upon inspection, the officers detected a strong burning odor and experienced irritation to their eyes and noses. The bathroom in question is small, measuring 1.2 meters wide, 2.5 meters long, and 2.05 meters high, with only one ventilation window approximately 40 centimeters wide. The bathroom door opens inward, leading to the hypothesis that if someone fainted inside, anyone attempting to help would need to close the door first to help them, so potentially inhaling hazardous chemicals. Further investigation led officers to purchase the same brand of drain cleaner for testing. It was found to contain a highly concentrated black sulfuric acid, which should not be mixed with alkaline substances, such as caustic soda. When combined with a blockage, the mixture could produce toxic hydrogen sulfide gas, which has been known to cause fatalities in the past. Pol. Col. Wiphawadi Kasemworabhum, a scientist from the Chemical and Physical Inspection Group of the Central Institute of Forensic Science, revealed that from academic reports, the amount of hydrogen sulfide gas that is harmful to health has many levels. A level of 50 ppm will cause eye irritation and inflammation of the respiratory tract. However, if the gas is at a level of 500 ppm, it will cause nausea and loss of consciousness. If it exceeds 500 ppm, it will cause lack of oxygen and sudden respiratory arrest. Lt. Gen. Trirong concluded by stating that the exact cause of death is still pending a detailed autopsy report, but Initial findings show that it was not related to 'caustic soda' and that no burn marks were found in the mouths. 13 August 08.00 - The fire continues to burn and parts of the structure and roof have collapsed, despite ongoing efforts to extinguish it. The fire, which started on August 11, has now persisted for almost two days. The flammable materials have made it difficult for firefighters to bring the blaze under control. Firefighters have been working around the clock since the fire was first reported, the flames continue to smoulder, with hotspots flaring up despite the best efforts of emergency services.

At 16:00 on August 12, the Sing Buri Hospital Emergency Response Center received a report of a serious accident involving a regular inter provincial bus that rear-ended a truck, resulting in multiple injuries. The accident occurred at Km 86 point, on Highway 32. Volunteer rescue teams were dispatched to the scene, where they discovered a total of 22 individuals injured. Two of the injured were trapped inside the vehicle. Rescue volunteers successfully used hydraulic rescue tools to free the trapped passengers, who were then safely extricated. All injured individuals were subsequently handed over to Sing Buri Hospital's emergency services for further transportation and treatment. At around 13:00 PM on August 12, Police Lieutenant Kajphasut Prowatsirigul, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) at Mueang Chonburi Police Station, received a report of an incident at a residence in Bang Pla Soi Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chonburi. Upon being informed, Police Colonel Supharuk Yuiprai, Superintendent of Mueang Chonburi Police Station, proceeded to the scene with medical staff from Chonburi Hospital and rescuers from the Thammarat Mani Rattanathorn Foundation. The incident took place at a two-story police officer’s residence at Mueang Chonburi Police Station. Inside the ground-floor bathroom, the bodies of three females were found lying together. The deceased were identified as a 60-year-old female Police Lieutenant Colonel (mother), Ms. J, 34 (eldest daughter), and Ms. P, 25 (youngest daughter). All were found with foaming at the mouth, bluish lips, and nails. Rescue workers and medical personnel attempted to resuscitate them, but the three ultimately succumbed to the effects of the caustic soda. A strong odor of caustic soda permeated the residence, and the police prohibited anyone from entering the premises. According to an inquiry by Police Colonel Supharuk Yuiprai, a close friend of the eldest daughter, revealed that she had visited her friend the previous day at 15:00, after earlier that morning, the mother, had asked her to buy caustic soda to pour down the clogged bathroom drain. The friend, on August 12, found no one responding to her calls, so she went to the home to check and on opening the bathroom door, discovered the three bodies lying together. She immediately sought help from a neighbour. The police have initially sent the bodies for autopsy at Chonburi Hospital to determine whether caustic soda was present in their stomachs, which will help ascertain whether the incident was accidental or intentional. Investigators will also question close colleagues of the deceased to determine if there were any unresolved issues or personal problems that the deceased might have confided in. A close colleague of the deceased, mentioned that the Lt. Col. was due to retire next month, in September, and was known to deeply love her daughters. The colleague expressed disbelief that she would take her own life. The colleague was unaware of any personal debts or financial issues. It is speculated that the officer may have poured caustic soda into the bathroom drain and closed the door. The younger daughter might have entered the bathroom, inhaling the caustic soda fumes and losing consciousness. The mother and older sister could have entered the bathroom to assist, but also succumbed to the fumes, leading to the tragic outcome. The discovery caused concerns among the public, as there were fears that the suitcases could contain explosives. Upon receiving the report, police officers and investigative teams immediately arrived at the scene, cordoning off the area. They requested support from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit of the Royal Thai Navy’s Ordnance Department to conduct a thorough inspection. The scene attracted a crowd of onlookers who gathered to witness the unfolding situation. Eyewitnesses reported that they had noticed the suitcases being left unattended for several hours. Initially, they assumed the owner would return to collect them. However, as time passed and the suitcases remained in place, concerns grew that they might contain explosives, prompting the call to the police. As the EOD unit was en route to the scene, a young woman emerged from the department store and identified herself as the owner of the suitcases. Update. The Sing Buri Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office has provided an update on the ongoing firefighting efforts at the Singha Paratech wood factory fire, which broke out on Sunday, August 11, as it has continued to burn, and efforts to fully control the blaze have been challenging. Monday, August 12, 12.00, the fire has yet to be completely extinguished, with smoke still rising from some of the wood piles. Firefighters from the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center Region 16, Chai Nat, have been working tirelessly throughout the night, attempting to keep the fire under control by continuously spraying water. Without these measures, the fire could easily reignite at any moment. Local responders will again take over in the afternoon of August 12. The situation is being closely monitored, and the investigation into the cause of the fire continues..

Sorry not qualified enough to offer expert opinion, as my knowledge is on the risks, hazards and emergency response, and no experience as a gas fitter. But I would say that general safety guidances do seem to have been followed, the cylinder is outside and looks in good condition. There is a shut off both outside and inside, which I assume are easy to access. Someone else raised the quality of the pipe work, which needs to be checked for corrosion. So yes seems far safer that having the cylinder under/next to the cooker. LPG is safe if used properly, with quality equipment, which if fitted correctly and maintained. What is strange about this incident, is that if an LPG leak is burning, it is normally safe providing the flame are not onto the cylinder or likely to set anything else on fire. With the leak burning the gas is not escaping or building up and is never going to reach a gas/air explosive mixture. The witnesses above said they saw flames at the cylinder, but did not say if they extinguished those flames. When a leak is not burning and starts to fill a poorly ventilated space , that is when there is a possibility of it building into an explosive atmosphere, that just needs any ignition source to go bang. The other explosion risk is BLEVE, which requires direct heat or flame onto the cylinder. The heat then causes the liquid to boil quicker , giving off more vapour, so expanding and increasing the pressure in the cylinder, until it gets too much and can explode. Most LPG cylinders have a pressure release valve fitted, and if this operates and gives off a high pitch whistle, that is an indication that a BLEVE is possible and it is time to get far away. For a cylinder to BLEVE you should know that you have a problem, as the area around the cylinder will be on fire.

Picture from emergency responders At 00:10, on August 12, emergency services were notified of a accident involving a inter province bus on the outbound Mittraphap Road at kilometre marker 45, opposite the Khum Ngern Khum Thong area, near the Klang Dong Highway Service Center, Klang Dong Subdistrict, Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima. The bus involved was a first-class air-conditioned bus on the Bangkok-Roi Et route, operated by Nakhonchai Air Company and there were a total of 34 passengers and staff on board. Upon arrival at the scene, rescue teams from various rescue foundation units, found the bus had lost control and overturned on its side, it is believed no other vehicle was involved. At the scene there with seven individuals who had sustained injuries in the incident. All the injured passengers were given first aid at the scene before being transported to Pak Chong Nana Hospital for further treatment. This factory, which had ceased operations due to bankruptcy, was under the supervision of the Enforcement Office, and had experienced previous smaller fires on August 10, and earlier at 10.00 on the morning of August 11. It is not known if the morning’s fire reignited, or this was a new fire, but it started outside of the building and spread inside, spreading to the large amount of stored wood. During the evening the blaze had yet to be fully contained due to the large amount of accumulated flammable material.
