Netanyahu rejects claims accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza

Get over it. War is hell. Don't start one if you don't want to pay the price. -

But,but, but in this case it's different. In appreciation, the Palestinians will turn against their masters, Hamas. They will ensure Hamas does not receive any of this aid. In reality, this is the kind of logic that loses wars. -

Just because Netanyahu acceded to Blinken does not mean his contempt for Hamas disappeared. Those kinds of memories are hard to remove. How you wish to interpret Netanyahu's words is up to you. Enough said. -

Netanyahu rejects claims accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza

By October 16, Netanyahu had seen it all and must of been sick to his stomach about the unthinkable atrocities committed by Hamas. Mostly likely revenge was on his mind. It was Blinken who brought him to his senses and convinced Netanyahu that his violation of humanitarian rights was going to backfire mostly because the U.S. could not support Israel if they went down that path. Easy to say that emotions should not get in the way in dealing with such a delicate situation. No one wants to be in this kind of situation and Netanyahu probably never thought he would witness such horrific brutality. Now back to reality. Now back to business. Netanyahu had a job to do. Hamas must never be allowed to repeat this. In order to accomplish this, Hamas must be destroyed. And so the war continued with many civilian casualties. The IDF made mistakes. Very difficult not to do when the enemy hides behind women and children and stores their weaponry inside or next to schools, kindergartens, hospitals and in the homes of civilians. This is where we are today. It is up to the experts to sort this all out. Many posters talk like they know it all, but they don't. -

Yes, despicable. Where is the outrage by South Africa against Hamas for the taking of hostages and their torture? There are also international rules against these crimes, not only genocide. I believe they would prosecuted under the ICC and not the ICJ. -

Not yet. Supposedly the U.S. Navy is in the final stages of testing their newly developed counter-battery fire system. -

If China were to lose its Middle Eastern oil there might not be much energy left to produce sorely needed exports. Rather doubt it if Russian oil could make up the loss. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1310953/oil-imports-by-country-china/ https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Is-China-Overly-Reliant-On-Middle-Easter-Oil.html I mentioned sanctions on Yemen, not Iran, albeit some may be tied to Iran. The U.S. is imposing sanctions on the Houthi's key financiers. -

Quite ignorant for a "seasoned" observer. Diplomacy to Hamas means, "My way or the highway." To put it mildly, he sounds like another Bernie Sanders. -

Maybe you could find out by sailing a ship flying the Israeli flag through the Red Sea. Any other volunteers? -

I viewed this earlier from another source. As an American, I took a deep breath and said Bernie Sanders is right. What is going on in Gaza is a horrific humanitarian crisis. Then I took another deep breath and said what is Israel supposed to do if the enemy (Hamas) hides behind women and children and stores their cache of weapons in schools, kindergartens, hospitals and peoples homes? Typical of Sanders to tell only one side of the story, his side. By appealing to an ignorant and uniformed public he is only inciting more pro-Palestinians sympathizers to demonstrate and riot. This is happening at the gates of the White House right now. -

US and UK launch strikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen
Hawaiian replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
Biden's response to countering Trump's political actions is beyond childish. They are now coming back to haunt him as he attempts to unravel the mess he has created. Trump had a close relationship with MBS who was relying on U.S. weapons and support used in the Yemen conflict. Once the Houthis were removed from the terrorist designation, the Saudis moved out and Iran moved in. Today we are paying the price, big time, for Biden's stupidity. -

The U.S. has stepped up its efforts to halt revenues supporting the Houthi attacks by issuing new sanctions, some with connections to Iran. And as far as the mullahs go, they know a direct confrontation with the U.S. would be a disaster for Iran. So it is in their best interests to stop the attacks on shipping. If Iran refuses to replenish the Houthi arsenal then it will be just a matter of time before they run out of steam. China, in the meantime, is does not want to see a full-on regional conflict since it will certainly curtail their oil imports from the Middle East. The Chinese are already having a hard time meeting electrical power needs and are turning more and more to coal. -

From this link: "even the ghosts of the Israel-Palestine colonial past are being resurrected in polarizing debates about this conflict." A lot of attempts at rehashing this by certain individuals on this forum. Enough, already. -

The latest attempt at a ceasefire was a plan proposed by Egypt. So far neither side has accepted or made a counter proposal. https://www.npr.org/2023/12/27/1221761431/gaza-israel-ceasefire-palestinians-war -

The whole world will pay in one way or another, whether it be in shortages of critical supplies or higher prices for those goods that are available. And if the Red Sea shipping lanes remains shut down for a prolonged period of time it will most likely lead to job losses and corresponding problems. https://www.npr.org/2024/01/12/1224357964/red-sea-shipping-attacks-have-economic-implications-for-the-entire-world
