    Nong Khai has Khao Soi, good Vietnam food and German food. It is definately better than some other places.

    It is fairly nice area. Nong Khai is great. Udon is ok.

    Couple of temples. Nice drive. That whole section from PhiSai down to Mukdahan is a good trip. But the opposite way west is better.

    Well no but that gives him another country to stay in for a while so flight isnt wasted. The passport should have a stamp in it if banned. Cambodia has 1 year visas for $300 over 55yo so an option maybe.
