Yes it is. I lived there for more years than I'd like to admit. I pretty much avoid the flotsam and jetsam. I even had special walking routes to avoid traffic, tourists and anywhere I knew the I'd find people I'd rather not come into contact. * Been many changes since then. In fact, the entire town has changed considerably I would imagine.

No troll Income verification, for instance tax receipts. Receipts for business expenses. Taxes filed home country as LLC, sole proprietorship. They will need these for Thailand as well. Something else occurred to me. At this point we have no confirmation that the Visa can be extended multiple times over the 5 years. Therefore, it is very possible that they will expect these people to pay taxes on some sort in Thailand Do you expect anyone to be able to nab this visa? Many Tiktokers are totally lazy af: 1 learn something at a very superficial level 2 walk about and find something banal to discuss and prattle on about it for a few minutes 2 report on it from a chair in your studio flat - This is not a job it's a waste of a life. I also predict that many tiktokers little income that they might be making will disappear as they are inexperienced in Asia as well as vapid and are quickly running out of things to present to their audiences. Their views will plummet and are doing so already.

How to retire in Thailand
BusNo8 replied to CharlieH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I totally disagree. If I had 35k income stream and had the opportunity to be here - but only in that amount. I would still do it in a heartbeat. Live in Pattaya and make the best of it. Live at the beach, make short one hour day trips to cleaner beaches. Far, far better than grinding it out in the west - doubly so in coming years. -
Back in the day they did this. It was especially rigid in the old days. The hotel keeps the passport. There were stories of hotels losing ppts as well I can recall. I always carried an old passport and would do a switcheroo. Lao was very tedious traveling in the old days as well. You had to check into the police station ever place you stayed. Myanmar in early 90s was very weird as well.

I was there once back in 2002. It was just fishing villages. I didn't want to give my passport to the hotel so the police told me to report. They hassled me as best they could as none spoke English. Checking out if I was a spy no doubt. After about an hour they just let me go on my way. Ridiculous Fing fascists. Many parts of Vietnam are stellar, but I don't care for the vietnamese character.

OP needs to consider monsoon setting in. Anywhere on Pacific can get raging storms and even typhoon.

Countryside looked inviting but expensive to get about. Our highlight was the gondola and some sashimi joint we found. Stinky tofu lol. Living in Asia for decades, with Thai wife neither of us smelt anything overly stinky in that main famousy area. About our third evening we spied a sign across the walkway - stinky tofu. So, we go, we smell, we buy, we try. Wife likes it but meh. I found it edible but no reason to eat bc why? You can eat something better. I'll try pretty much anything but gooey insects, blood, offal. Food and rooms very overpriced. We ate typical Chinese meals about 30% over BKK + AC food court in BKK. Eat in stall in tpe. Our room was basically a queen bed and toilet.

Yeah, Singapore definitely ok for three days. I've prolly now done three weeks. I think the value in Singapore is just not there. It's been years since my last visit. It was expensive then. I would imagine it's twice that now. We even mostly ate in hawkers food courts also. Taiwan soooo boring. Electronics you'd think are cheap - not so. Most impressive thing I found about Taiwan was the transportation system both rail and bus. Museums...not impressed. Food was ghastly. Everyone literally lives on cheap bits of protein saturated somehow in Pa Lo. I'll never eat it again. Have problems eating Chinese Thai food now bc of it.

DON'T Go to Taiwan. My wife finally talked me into it and it was the most boring place I have ever been to in Asia. It was twice as boring as Singapore. We did win $5, 000 Taiwanese dollars on entry in the lotto

I don't much care what happens to the earth. The earth doesn't care either. I'm pretty light on the carbon footprint. I have no heirs. With millionaires and billionaires flying private jets, yachts, big homes, wait staff, quick jet holidays, conflict gems, exotic cars and toys. The wind solar lies The EV lie I don't feel least bit guilty taking an occasional flight or taxi. Save the Earthers can bIo* me

How to retire in Thailand
BusNo8 replied to CharlieH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Can have a simple life in Bangkok no less on 25 - 35k as a general monthly spend. Need to add holidays, incidentals to be fair. That's going to come from years of experience, knowing a bit of Thai and living local. Just bc you and so many foreigners can't eat, don't like Thai food doesn't mean others can't live on the fantastic cuisine. Nothing wrong with a small one bedroom in the right location. You're obviously heavily biased against urban living in Thai food. B300 for a meal. Thais don't eat like that. -
Big Thailand visa changes from June 1
BusNo8 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
This is also vague. Perhaps just poor writing Appears students studying IN Thailand. So that's Chinese PRC and a few Koreans It does not appear to be gap year holiday for foreigners. -
You've misunderstood It's the - I'm (young) and desperate for the soft living in Thailand and own a big roll bag visa. *My understanding is also it renews once over five years. I seriously doubt you can save the renewal for some time in future. You enter Thailand, it is active. So, if you are bumping around Asia and want a final week in BKK plus flights cheaper - the extension will activate - or be forfeited. 555

Thanks, I'd sort of thought that abt blue book. Just escaped me. The rest is just unwarranted hassle and not possible The short of this is apparently if I do not own property I can't obtain a yellow book. So, I'll have to see if certificate residency and passport plus supplemental support will do. Thank you ANY FOREIGNERS WITH SSO received without using a house book?

Retired and want to keep my SSO insurance. Apparently, I need a dreaded pink card to continue on with SSO. Although they could also be referring to a tax id#??? NOTE: An identification card with 13 digits from Department Of Provincial Administration (hotline 1548) A tax card is not an id card...I presume I must obtain a pink card - which means a tabien bahn. We do not own a condo. I cannot be placed on her parents blue book bc that home is in Nothaburi The short email is very superficial which sent me to the internet looking for more information. Is it possible to use a certificate of residency? SSO on the phone was vague and not much help. They said I need to go in to discuss. Any information or ideas appreciated

It's same old dog and pony. The difference here is age dropped to 20 along with 10k per year renewal. They'll need to be doing something $ productive or creative I expect. I'll bet they will ask for proof of income - more to see wtf the person is engaged in. 500k ok first year perhaps. Will be interesting to see these new arrivals whinging about opening bank accounts. This will be a huge problem for the program. Most people in social media are scraping by, living out of a bag or parents basement. Kids don't have this dosh. As someone mentioned - it's one and done (I'd read). I'd also venture stringing this new visa + education visa may raise eyebrows. Again, it's Thailand having cake and eating it too. I'd be happy if Thailand rid itself of the tiktokers. Really lightweight bs, often clueless and sometimes misinformation is misleading and even dangerous. It is though free *soft power* or at least upbeat promotion.

Thanks to you both. I didn't Google it. I tend to like to ask these sorts of questions here because websites are rarely updated
