  1. Hello Elviajero,

Thanks for your reply. I suspected that my visa to stay + reentry would have expired. Your comments are very helpful though. At the moment I am not able to say if I intend to locate permanently in Thailand again yet. The 90 day visa you mentioned, with the opportunity to extend  sounds good. The 90 day extention is that just a one off, or can that be extended annually, also where in Thailand would I have to go to get the extention? Would I need to go to the Thai Embassy in London to obtain the first 90 day visa or cold I do that in the Consulate in Hull.

Do you know if it would be possible for me to obtain a yellow book for my wife's home on the 90 day visa. Sorry to be a pain.

    Thanks

  2. Hello All,

I am looking for some help/advice. Let me give some brief details to help explain my situation.

I moved to Thailand from the UK in April 2008 on a retirement visa using the 800,000Bt in the bank method, extending this annually.Fast forward a few years. On the 29th Sept 2015 I applied for a reentry permit which was valid until the 14th Feb 2016, the reason for this was for an intended holiday with my then girlfriend now wife. Whilst in the UK I was diagnosed with base of tongue cancer for which I had radical treatment, surgery, chemo and radio therapy, with all of this going on it has meant that we had to stay in the UK while I recovered  from the treatment. I am now in the position where I can now think about returning to Thailand, so my question is does anyone know what my Immigration status would be, such as would my original visa still be active, or would I be able to regenerate it? I do still have the 800,000Bt in my Thai bank.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks jb1

  3. Hi again,

W thought that we would change the name on my wifes passport, So went on the Thai embassy London website to see what was required. It now seems that as my wife has changed her surname to mine she has to go back to Thailand to obtain a certificate of name change from her home town where the home registration book is?

  4. Hi All,

Can anyone help us with filling in the FLR(M) visa form. Basically any snippets of knowlege of answers and documents supplied would be great. We recently married in the UK on 8th August 2016. We actually started filling in the form before we were married and have submitted her name in relavent sections as her maiden name  her passport is still in her maiden name. Should we change them both to her  married name before finally submitting?

I have been told that we can not submit the form until 28 days before her marriage visa expires anyone know if this is correct?

In supporting documents I have already printed off online bank statements and had them stamped and signed the last statement being dated July 2016. My wifes visa expires on 28th October, would the statements still be accepted?

I think we have all other supporting documents in place but would be thankful for any advice that could be offered.

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

  5. The suspects said they hit the man with a spade three times

Anybody who has seen pictures of David's injuries will know that this is not true.

I have seen photos of Davids injuries, In my unqualified opinion, I would say there is an injury to the back of his head, which would have been caused by the hoe, the other injury that I have seen just under his jaw was In my opinion caused by a knife. I have also recently seen a photo of a push knife which again in my opinion I would say could easily been the type of weapon used to cause this type of injury.

  6. The petition is in the right direction, as is the CSI LA Fb page which he now says he will clean up and translate relative passages to English.

What would make a huge difference though would be, if Hannah and David's parents could bring themselves to petition the British government for an independent British investigation directly through their MPs.

Kirsty Jones' mother is an incredibly courageous soul who has never given up fighting for justice for her daughter who was raped murdered in Chiang Mai, most likely by a Thai policeman. She has managed to get Welsh police to fly out to Thailand to investigate more than once. Even though they have been repeatedly stone walled by Thai police, who have been given carte blanche by successive Thai governments to do whatever they feel like, she still hasn't given up. With this type attitude, one day someone will be successful in exposing police corruption in covering up rape and murder cases of British tourists. That will be a victory for all those who have died and not received justice and will make Thailand a safer place for all foreign tourists.

Personally I don't deny the possibility that the two suspects might be guilty. If so, they still deserve a fair trail based on credible investigation to remove all doubt of their guilt. Even if they are guilty, the investigation appears to have failed utterly to provide a credible account of what actually happened and leaves open a very possibility that the rape and murders were work of more than two men. That leaves a very highly possibility that at least one murderer, if not more, are still at large and might strike again.

What would make a huge difference though would be, if Hannah and David's parents could bring themselves to petition the British government for an independent British investigation directly through their MPs.

Absolutely I can not believe how quiet they are being. It is coming on for four weeks now.

But then we don't really know what they are going through, everyone handles things such as this differently.

I can only say if it was me I think I would be looking for answers to many questions.

  7. A modern police force can not use boiling water, beatings and electric shocks as interrogation tools, shame on you RTP.

But injections of rohypnol to facilitate confessions and pliant behaviour at police re-enactments, while blurring memories of 'safe house' interrogation sessions, are part of the legitimate hi-tech crime busting arsenal of every modern police force.

Yes I wouldn't go with boiling water. Far to visible.

  8. 'and the confession of the suspects at the presence of their lawyers'.

Is this the same guy who said they didn't have a lawyer because they didnt ask for one ?

Just how many more times are they going to cock up.

Oh and since when does some bushes outside of some ones window count as their possession.

why can't they stay on script?

Didn't the end of last week an NGO confirm they sent /sending the suspects lawyers? Is it possible and likely the lawyers have since talked to the suspects and police?

"Aung Myo Thant, a Burmese lawyer who is part of a legal team sent by the Burmese Embassy in Bangkok to represent the accused, told The Irrawaddy that Win Zaw Htun was assaulted and threatened after refusing to confess to the murders during a police interrogation.

He didnt confess when he was in the investigation center, Aung Myo Thant said. A police officer hit the side of his face and the interpreter also hit him four times. Then police threatened to electrocute them [the suspects] and said that no worse thing would happen to them if they confessed. So, they finally confessed as they saw no hope.

The lawyer said Win Zaw Htun had asked him to please protect us in accordance with the law. Aung Myo Thant said the migrants signed a power of attorney document over to the embassys legal team, allowing it to represent the accused men in court.

Thai authorities denied a request by the Burmese legal team to meet with another Burmese migrant Maung Maung, who is being held by Thai police as a witness.

Police told us Maung Maung is not a criminal. They are keeping him to be a witness and provide testimony to the prosecutor. So, they cant let us meet him. They told us they are keeping him at a hotel, said Aung Myo Thant. There were unconfirmed reports stating that Maung Maung, who is a friend of the two suspects, was also badly beaten by Thai police."

    From today's article on http://www.irrawaddy.org/burma/burmese-suspects-koh-tao-murders-tortured-interrogation-lawyer.html

They are keeping him in a hotel as a witness. As a witness. Is this for his own safety.

Shouldn't someone, human right or defence lawyer be asking to see him, the presents of other witnesses?

I don't know about Thai law, in the UK the prosecution have to give the defence lawyers details of witness statements, before the case goes to trial.

  9. This is building momentum now, the telegraph has written an article now saying that the Burmese guys could ne scapegoats and that the RTP's conduct in the case has been questionable at best.

Keep it going people the petition was at 36000 last time I checked

I contacted Tom Phillips from the Telegraph on Sunday and exchanged a few emails with him. I'm so glad they've published an article, and a very well written one at that. This will put questions into a huge audience here in the UK who may not have been following events. Hopefully other news agencies will follow suit.

Well done,it's a shame more of us don't have such contacts

He isn't a contact, I just found his email address on his Twitter profile. I contacted a number of other journalists too and suggested on another thread that others might like to do the same.

    [/quote

Great work. Keep it up please. This can not be allowed to go cold in the UK.

    Are the government saying anything?

    Cheers

  10. This is unbelievable. With all the pressure from AROUND the world. Why not just ease everyone's tension with an independent test? Seems simple enough to me. Everyone knows the police have had a bad track record so why not just let someone do a couple simple swabs of the suspects and put most of the issues to rest? This is really looking horrible for Thailand.

99% of all the BS posted on CSI LA is a joke with no actual proof of anything.

Without CSI LA this case wouldn't be getting as much support from the Thai community, he is making waves and asking questions. Exactly what is needed to put pressure on the police. Finally someone is taking a stance against their BS.

yep, no censorship of likes there, unlike here....CSI la on FB is where it's at, wish he would do more translations...

Yes I agree with you entirely. FB looks like the best option.

  11. O

They are just trying to cover their <deleted>.

They know they are in the wrong, they know what they have done and now they are threatening people speaking against them.

But the voice coming from the Thais and the foreigners is too loud and they will not be able to supress it.

The truth will come out one day, either they like it or not.

In this case they should put a hold on the 6 new airports their planning to build and build same 100 Super Upsize Jails instead to accommodate these " Guilty " individuals speaking their mind. cheesy.gif

They will not be needing these airports after all as everyone will be rotting in jail....laugh.png

So will they also have to close down all Tourist destinations and open up some shops in the jails so the Tourist can spend their money " inside " lockdown....cheesy.gif

Who knows... the Tourist might be safer inside than outside....

    What a load of BS..

They can still build them, at a vastly reduced cost. Forget about arrivals?

  12. Please be careful fellow TV members, I implore you!

Three days ago now already we were warned, "The police are doing their job. If the police hear your accusation, they will be sad," Gen. Prawit said.

Now, they are not only sad but have become angered! In this current state they have announced a new law in Thailand, thou shalt not accuse the police of using scapegoats.

(Not to be confused of course with the Kiwi law of similar wording/reference!)goof.gif.pagespeed.ce.KJ2oZpgSLm.gif This crime is not subject to any statute of limitations and carries with it a severe penalty in addition to (needless to say) a hefty fine! ( That Kiwi law I believe had a stiff fine....not hefty...rolleyes.gif )

Further laws to be added to the penal code of Thailand currently under review are 1) thou shalt not call the police names (2) thou shalt not exclude the police from any games and I believe a further addition has already occurred although not certain on this (3) thou shalt not accuse police of planting evidence.

    So please, please, be careful!
