  1.

I think the Junta is going to start clamping down harder on foreigners.  I get the feeling we are not welcome in the new Thailand.

This is no news "we are not welcome here"   whistling.gif

  2.

It looks like this is just Hua Hin at the moment.

I don't really see what it is all about. I am ok that you have to carry ID on you at all times, this is the same as many countries but the reporting of your residence within 24 hours is just silly.

If you are here on holiday and staying in a hotel then its not likely you are going to move.

If you are here on holiday travelling around the country then you won't bother with all that nonsense

And if you are here longer term then you report your address to immigration every 90 days anyway.

So, the authorities data is likely never much more then a couple months out date anyway. This looks like a lot of additional administration,, does anyone ever think these things through?

If they want to find someone urgently for a serious matter then those people are unlikely to disclose whereabouts and just get someone else to do the tenancy agreement.

Whats next? Microchip with GPS tracker on entry?

It all seems a little unnecessary and yet another bureaucratic process making foreigners feel even more unwelcome, the vast majority of which are normal, decent people. I like the fact that the military "seems" to be squashing the old corruption and trying to clean things up but I am slowly getting the feeling that its time to say goodbye to this land and earn my living somewhere else.

I totally agree. I is silly and yet another way of making decent foreigners feel unwelcome. I am also starting to look for another country, since I am getting more and more sick of these "signals" towards foreigners here. And while corruption is still very much alive here, new enforcements are nothing else than new ways of getting more money and making things more complicated.

+1 feel the same way, if things carry on this trend i'll be packing up too

    +1  !!!

And then they are surprised tourists stay away from Thailand ! Also long stayers like myself will move out from Land Of Scam ! They really treat us like criminals !

And then there is this :

    Penalty:

Failure to carry valid ID as above is 2,000 Baht.

That's what all the shit is about... GREED !!!   coffee1.gif

He added that he felt sorry for people who would lose their businesses but the authorities must do everything right, and Thai society must change from now – “No more ‘Mai Pen Rai’ or being too flexible about everything.

    brilliant

ive been saying this exact thing for years , especially when it comes to the construction business, and many peoples shoddy/non existent  workmanship

Brilliant my ass - nothing left at Surin beach now - not a single facility.

In my opinion this has gone a bit to far.

    Too far ?  WHY ????

It's becoming time that they teach all those poo yais a lesson !

And Pattaya will follow, especially in WS at the beach side.....

Hooray for this General !  make him PM !!!  clap2.gif

  5. On the other hand........speed-bumps are popping-up everywhere, without a proper marking or warning.

So, instead of blaming the 15 yo so called culprit, investigate who's responsible for the speed-bump and find out whether it was there legally.

WHAT, "blame the speed bumps" INSTEAD of blaming the the 15 year olds .

Joe you must be the funniest guy in your family biggrin.png

Those bumps are there to..... REDUCE the Speed !!

(one thing i agree though as they may paint them like a zebra or something as in the dark you dont see them... but that's the same for the THOUSANDS of wholes in the roads... impossible to mark them isnt it ? facepalm.gif )

  6. Nothing new here, this, happens everyday, Parents don't have the gumption to explain safety....

Just on you go and best of luck.....

I see them speeding on there way out from school, no helmets, full throttle...

    So so sad..

    R.I.P.

" I see them speeding on there way out from school, no helmets, full throttle... "

And this all happens EVERY SINGLE DAY in front of the police who don't give a SH^T as there is no Money involved.....

They should FORBID those motorbikes and FORCE them to take the bicycle !!!

But i know this is a big joke in TH.....

  7. I find there is a general disdain for Thailand by many .. I am guessing Westerners ...that have such a low opinion of Thailand.

That Thailand should object to the rating given by the US government on Human Trafficking...I can guess that most people don't want their country criticized by any foreigner..so that's a natural reaction not just a Thai perspective.

Since over 22 years coming to Thailand & now living here I have never seen or experienced this problem but if others are more a expert on the subject I'd be more interesting in listening.

Since it was the US making the claim it's as if there is no human trafficking done in the US? or in their farming industry done by Latinos?

Just because the US makes standards..and they can because they are the ones linked to any loans etc given by the World Bank & IMF that is affected by the Tier system they can say what they want.

My initial reaction would be the US has destroyed 7 countries in the last 10 years or so & now leading the charge towards World War & Nuclear attacks against Russia & China.

Most of the other Western Countries... including my own are basically Puppets and to me have no right to say anything on any moral high ground.

Is Thailand perfect?.. of course not but where is?..Your home country?

" I can guess that most people don't want their country criticized by any foreigner..so that's a natural reaction not just a Thai perspective."

=> Not without any REASON !

We are talking about problems in THAILAND and not in US or somewhere else....

If the foreign country wouldnt bring this subject on the table, this shameless SHIT would continue for many years like it is going on for decades now.... SHAME on the RTP to behave like children ! Of course a matter of losing face as the world can see what is going on in Thailand for so many years, but always turned a blind eye to by corrupt authorities.... coffee1.gif

Bravo Gen Prayuth ! keep on pushing !

There is no such disdain concerning Thailand, in general, from Westerners as you suggest, and especially those of us who have lived here for a long time.

There is, however, disdain for the continued corruption, lack of effort to overcome it, and continued selective blindness to many atrocities. That is a very different agenda.

Thailand purports to being a member of the UN, and it also receives huge benefits from the World Bank, which you ascertain. In doing so, Thailand itself must recognise international standards and make every effort to adhere to such. The US does not make the standards... the international community does, whereby standards of life considered to include freedom, freedom of speeh and action, within the limits of acceptable laws, are adhered to.

It is those standards that Thailand agreed to when signing agreements with exactly the likes of the UN and the World Bank, and thus should adhere to, yet chooses not to ad hoc.

Each individual home country is irrelevant, when taking into account 192 member countries of the UN which all counter measures which impede rules agreed upon.

As a result, Thailand is more than far from perfect in its agreements to adhere, and yet we do not carry disdain for Thailnd, but its lack of efficiency in attempts to counter what is mentioned in line 2.

    AMEN ! clap2.gif

  9. They have evidence, so likely they know who is involved in some of the cases, all they need is to round up a few of them and make them squeal, which they certainly will do, and I hope it ends in an almighty domino topple and leads right to the door of the UDD leaders.

We all know that they have been implicit in all these murders, and we also know on who's word.

Let's all hope that as I suspect, the names Jatuporn. Thida, Nattawut, Surapong and Chalerm come out in the wash... The biggest bonus names will be Thaksin and Yingluck.

The UDD is deffo going to become an outlawed organization, and I doubt they will be able to just reinvent themselves under a new name.

Would also be nice if certain police are named as being involved in both the actions taking place and the cover ups and who ordered the investigations to be stifled.

The 'red shirts' are coming to their end.

    SCUM!!!!!
