  1. Yes, quite. In Thailand, those homeless often make their living collecting plastics, empty tins, and bottles(by selling them to the recyclers). And they very rarely harm others. And unlike in the first world, violence against such vulnerable people is not so common. While quite a number of homeless bullying is reported in the west. Some assh*les even post their scene of crimes on internet.
  2. Truly. I found that article is totally Pointless & Nonsense itself.
  3. Every time I take a shower with soap, wash up the whole wall and the floor. Then rinse it, and squeeze the remaining water off the wall and floor. Then I wipe them up the room with big dry cloth(old worn bathing towel) and run the fan to make them completely dry. I don’t want soap and water scales build up in my shower room. Instead, I want to keep that space immaculate all the time.
  4. I use 2 of the desktop fans most of the time March-October during the day. Dec-Feb, often no fans used. No TV since 2010; I returned it to the landlord. One PC. A/C: Always set at 28℃. Usually 1- hour a day(mostly after shower to dry bathroom with fan). In apartment, electricity unit is often higher than house.
  5. Hi, thank you for your interest in my post. My monthly rent:3000- Water:(flat rate):150- Electricity: (8 for each unit) x about 40(during the Nov-Feb), about80(March-May), about 60(Jun-Oct). Internet:100/month(pay to the landlord with monthly rent). Area: Chiang Mai Old City Type of accommodation: Studio Apartment(room size varies) with A/C, Desk, Build-in Wardrobe, Bed, fly Screen in the windows, Curtain or Blind.Hot water,Ceiling/Wall fan in each room. Tenant Ratio: 70-80% Thais(students, workers, self-employed. Family and singles. 20-30% Foreigners(westerners and Asians). My advice: If you are looking for any studio apartment around THB3000-3500, area around Tanin(AKA Siri Wattana) Market(outside Old City Champuak Gate is suitable) recommended. Tops Market and discount good store nearby. When you check out around apartment, bring in your pc to see their Wi-Fi connections. Some places are good. Some are not. Home goods store
  6. Showing off large sum of money may get wrong sort of attention. Such as bag snatchers, or muggers.
  7. I clicked on the good will button on the right bottom.
  8. Thank you for your reply. You mean it depends on whether that character is officially recognized as a man or woman? I have heard that conscription can spare transgender women if that change of man to woman is formally documented(with the family registry) years ago.
  9. UN Failure? With or Without Hezbollah, it is already in the state of Brain Death. Bandits & Pirates in the middle of their Security Council Members. Those ones can be spared from any form of collective sanctions using their veto. Just like the mass murders in court can dismiss their judges they don't like.
  10. Thailand's planning for increased tax revenue for the aging population? Who is in the their Scope? Everyone Minus 0.1% of the Super Rich?
  11. Transwoman. Used to be a man, right? In such a case, which prison will that thing be sent? The one for men? Or the one for women?
  12. Unarmed miliary training? You mean Boot Camp? Yeah, it might work; sometimes used to correct the young offenders in the US. I have seen some such footage in Yotube.
  13. Where are you currently staying? In Bkk, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai? Anywhere else? If you are after better exchange rate from your cash, check out these sites. If any of their branches are within your reach. Superrich Thailand : Exchange Rates|Currency Converter | Super Rich Thailand SuperRich Currency Exchange (superrich1965.com) I presume you might have changed your money at airport/bank branches(usually offers the worst rate in any currencies). Superrich's rate is not hugely different, but at least better than the rate you mentioned. No need to be any mathematical expert for this level of calculation. That sort of western fast food is not their daily commodities. That is why it cost a lot more than their local meal(at their local diners). Also for the big brand name. Same applies to Mac burgers and Kentucky fried chickens. They are just like luxury items in Thai terms; so pricier than the traditional local eats. Does this Make Sense to you? Regarding myself, I can easily live on under THB10000(equivalent of AUD444) each month: Including monthly rent, utilities, food, and other miscellaneous. Often buying food stuff at local market(often a lot inexpensive than big supermarkets: Meat, vegetables, fruit, and sweets. Thailand also got the period of booming economy (late 1980s-2000). And it means overall cost of living rose (compared to the old days you might know about). I have no real idea about the current cost of living in Vietnam from foreigners' perspective. Unsure whether they got any retirement visa like thing either.
  14. Too far too dangerous. Creating even bigger threats to the general public including their military itself. Issuing a lunatic with self-loading(full-auto capability) rifle, spare ammo, bayonet, grenades, Claymore Mine? Criminals are known to be most unfit for armed services. And that is WHY army, navy, airforce all over the world usually rejects such ones. Because of their below-average stress resistance: Pretty fast to crack. Also for their misplaced egos(highly self-centered). That is why they commit a crime a lot easier than most others in society. No Garrison Gorillas in Real Life.
  15. Crime won't pay. That lesson costed him life. Hefty tuition fee.
  16. As a friend pocketed the change as a joke, Max, apparently unaware of this, accused staff of short-changing him. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Max, his Thai wife, Cafe owner, and her worker. Where is the real guilty one who hid the change? Without that stupid stunt, this whole trouble didn't even start.
  17. It is the standard of today’s affluent 1st world. But that is not really the universal principal. Idea of careful future and career planning is not automatically shared everywhere. Thailand is know to have huge gaps in terms of access to education(depending on the size of their parents' wallet). To the less fortunate of the society, that sort of notion is quite alien(unheard, unseen). In a country without developed social security schemes, child is just like their future age pension; looking after the baby and the child will eventually look after the parents. It almost looks like an instinctive survival strategy commonly seen throughout the 3rd world countries. Family welfare is substituting the social welfare to a great extent. That is why the very young married people often have their baby without second thought. Not beaconed by any logics, but by their survival instinct inherited for generations.
  18. Marriage and baby birth at very young age(mid to high teen). Used to be the old time normal when the big 3 generation family was commonly seen in Thailand(probably still usual in rural areas). Older family/relative members could mentally physically support the younger parents. Isolation, poverty, and lack of maturity. Disaster Triangle.
  19. A case of cold blunt bureaucracy in the land of Mai Pen Rai?
  20. In case of poor urban nuclear family where the very young parents cannot rely on any other family members(their mother/grandmother/kind helpful relatives). There could be a different story among the big rural family; 3 generations live together.
  21. In Thailand, some local diners use (small) machetes for their kitchens. Such a usage will be deemed Reasonable.
  22. Or Put Down for the whole community. Vermin better be exterminated.
  23. Looks like not so rare among the poor/rural people in South East Asia. 16 years ago, a pair mother and her daughter were working(as live in janitors) for my landlord. The mother was then 41. Her daughter was 26. It means she got her daughter at 15.
