  1. My father was probably better than me as he did use to speed (as he always did) and also never had an accident. lets be clear, I DO a adjust my driving when drunk for safety (and legal) reasons. And with nearly 5,000 journeys without incident I have proven to myself that my technique is a proven winner.
  2. You just stay home, sober, looking out over the dam through your faux French windows listening to the grandfather clock ticking away until you fall off the perch. It won’t be long now mate.
  3. I thought 900 sounded a bit low. That is a lot of money saved by not paying for taxis unnecessarily. it adds up.
  4. In the case of Woofs father I would say probably.
  5. You are giving off the self righteous vibes, not me. I am just stating the reality.
  6. And they enjoy their lives, and make it home. If I had to catch taxis everytime my social life would have been significantly diminished
  7. Quite exceptional circumstances and I agree he should not have been to driving in that situation. i am for sensible drink driving. Some of my friends ( mostly when younger) I would not get in a car drunk with because they drove like idiots when drunk.
  8. Some sober idiot on a phone runs into me.
  9. Hundreds of my friends over the years have also done it and ALL have made it safely home unless being stopped by police. What is a bit trickier is when having quite a few beers then you hit the bong. That is when (occasionally) you have to close one eye so to stop the double vision and slow down a bit more.
  10. Sorry to hear that. What were the circumstances? Was he speeding, ran a red light ? The alcohol doesn’t kill you, it is the driving mistake.
  11. I think you know what I meant Lou. Don’t speed, make sure I stop fully at stop signs, always indicate etc etc Lou being Lou.
  12. More natural food, less pollution and more exercise probably a factor.
  13. Do you want me to be PC or do you want the truth? I drink drive, as millions of other people do, I have done for 30 years, and I have never had an incident.
  14. I think snitch is the word.
  15. Yes, probably because I was not concentrating and following the road rules as deligently as I do after drinking so as not to give police any reason to pull me over. Average 3 times a week for 30 years without a problem. 0r 900 times.
  16. I understand your feeling, you are thinking you are doing the right thing, so you get angry when you see people not doing the “right thing”. It is the same emotion that makes religions so toxic. A hardcore Muslim will feel that way about a women not dressed appropriately, a hardcore Christian will not like atheists etc. when people follow rules and see other people not following those rules it upsets them. i get your emotion. But the fact is I, and many people I know are capable of driving drunk. Some people can not.
  17. So what are we going to do about all those sober people causing death? I have been drink driving all my life, never had an accident drunk. You just have to be sensible about it, don’t speed, use indicators, concentrate. Dont give the police any reason to pull you over.
  18. In other news Thais IN Sydney shocked that a small serve of steamed Mali rice at a restaurant costs $7 or 175 baht, 17 times the price of in Bangkok. And a fish?
  19. Murder needs intent. if a drunk driver deliberately killed someone it would be murder. Accidents happen. More road deaths are caused by sober people.
  20. Sounds like he is a capable drink driver. Unfortunately laws are brought in for the ones who cause problems as then everyone is supposed to follow those laws whether it makes sense individually or not. Eg. Weed was banned for everyone because 2% of the population can not handle weed. Speed humps on the road are everywhere because a small percentage of people will not slow down in built up areas but the speed humps annoy everyone. It is unfortunate. The bigger the city the more rules you need to follow.
  21. The Thai women are the big draw. You have one right?
  22. Pattaya is for the budget conscious. Food, sex, transport all cheaper. Phuket is for those who want something a bit better, generally cleaner and better air quality, less piles of garbage. Both are good. If they both cost the same, Phuket would win, a whole tropical island versus Jomtien to Nakluea.
  23. Wowser is a bit like a born again Christian. Pathetic
  24. They are popular with kids who come from broken homes.
  25. As usual the anti everything successful Thailand does muppets are out knocking Thailand. The TAT have been incredibly successful over the last 4 decades creating millions jobs for Thais as well as Burmese, Cambodians, Laotions and Phillipinos. An estimated 14, 000 Thai families are now USD millionaires from the tourist sector. Thailand is number one in the world. https://www.benoitproperties.com/news/bangkok-crowned-worlds-most-visited-city-in-2023-by-mastercard/ Thailand's capital was travellers' favourite city in 2023, raking in 22.78 million international visitors. It was joined by Phuket and Pattaya at the top of the leaderboard. Suck it up.
