1) The USA does a much better job of assimilating people then the European counties. 2) The poverty rate in Europe is a tad over 21%. You have nothing to brag about. 3) The European social welfare state is unsustainable.

The elephant in the room is the aging population and declining birth rates. Which holds true for the counties in the West. The social welfare state will crush the younger generations. I think pay as your go systems are a problem. These need to be phased out and replaced with individual investment accounts.
