  1. It’s a very old thread that has been brought to life anyway here goes my experience, when the wife’s family decided they wanted a bore. The main push for this was the wife’s older brother who lives in Surin, he’s the ideas man and always looking for a way to get kickbacks, sell me land he doesn’t own. He wasn’t the one paying my wife Dad was. The reason most of the time the Village water doesn’t run during the day in the dry season however overnight at different times it seems to work. Heaven forbid anybody that uses the water from the large cement jugs would fill it up when the water is running. I suggested it was a bad idea and the best way forward would be a reasonable size storage tank or tanks and valve(same principle as a toilet) on the inlet side and a pressure pump on the outlet to supply the House A lot cheaper and easier. THE BORE The water bore 50m deep x 31/2 inch casing and a submersible pump was installed. Of course this was done in the rainy season so the bore was fantastic Look at the water coming out of the pipe. Problem solved what would I know? Wouldn’t tell me the price.Mr Surin did the deal he’s great. (He wasn’t the one paying) The bore was unused for a few months until the dry season came and town water was intermittent again. Now let’s connect the bore to the house, local Plumber comes and does a fantastic job then leaves. This is great the house we have water all the time. Dad reckons the water is like the fountain of youth drinking it taste fantastic. Two weeks later the bore stops working. I get the phone call in Australia what’s wrong? I Pull out the crystal ball for answers. Video call shows me the submersible pump isn’t a pressure pump or has a pressure switch turning off the electricity. It’s either on pumping or off. It has to be plugged in or the plug removed to turn it off. you’re wrong Dad‘s been using it for two weeks and it turns off. Further investigation the submersible pump was overheating due to pumping all the time with no tap on. Once it cools down, it would reset and try pumping again. ( running dry more on this later.) I returned to Thailand in February to start the fault finding and see what we could do as the bore driller had disappeared. Pulled the BORE pump measured the depth 50 m. Check the pump ‘burnt out ‘and wires fuse together. Was instructed to just replace the pump with the same. “Okay “ Check the water level the bore hadn’t been used for six months. It was at 20 m. Reinstall the new pump, turn it on flow Check ,15 seconds to fill a 20 L bucket. fill another 20 L bucket takes longer one minute 15 seconds, keep running over three minutes to fill the next 20 L bucket. The water flow is terrible. I tried the same thing over a couple of weeks thinking it may improve as the bore hasn’t been used for awhile. Pull the BORE once again and check the water level it’s dry. Now it’s my fault because why did I replace the bore pump if it doesn’t work? The pump works and the BORE recovers overnight filling the 20 L bucket once. not happy you spent all that money still not working. Forget about all my time and effort because the driller has gone missing. What about your fantastic son from Surin he’s to busy to talk. I came back to Thailand on 1 June. It has been raining a lot in the village and I tested the bore again. so it works fine in the rainy season when it’s not needed, but when it’s needed in the dry season, it doesn’t. So how about we try my solution? Why would we? You can’t fix the BORE. On a sidenote, the BORE was a bad idea due to the amount of septic tanks in the area. it’s not like it was out in an open field. There are neighbours all around us. TIT
