1. Recently I've discovered that a large percentage of my e-mail's are going missing - incoming and outgoing. I use Gmail but friends are experiencing the same with Yahoo. Anyone else experiencing difficulties....or maybe you are but don't know it :o

I have had the problem with my mail since Yahoo bought out the company, I can sen a mail from my hotmail to the Yahoo and it never arrives, has been going on for about 3 years, I have made about 20 complaints to the company but no resolution. I wouldn't mind but I pay for the address!!

  2. No time limit required. That is only for extensions of stay based on retirement within Thailand that they have the requirement.

is this your personal opinion or can you submit a reliable source?

It is fact based on a lot of posts.

Need the money in any bank in the world.

I did my multi 'o', based on marriage, 3 weeks ago and they don't care where the money is. I had 2 deposits within 3 days of going for the visa. I used Thai and UK statements.

  3. OP is spot on!!!!

But, the wost one for me is shoe shopping......

I ask for a size 10 because that's what size my feet are and have been for years, and when they don't have a 10....try a size 9 sir.... THEY DON'T FIT I take size 10.....rant...rant....rant.....

  4. We had an attemted break in while we were in the house one night, they woke my wife up she in turn woke me, one of them was 1/2 way through a small window and thought better of it, I was out of the house like a shot closely followed by the wife screaming "shoot them" in Thai.

Anyway, since then we have bought a pump action shotgun and I have no qualms about shooting anyone who intends harm to me or my own, we also went to Banglamung Police station to enquire about the legality of shooting an intruder, we posed the question, "What would happen if we shot an intruder" the Colonel looked very thoughtful and replied "He would probably die"!!!!!!!

    True story!

Air rifle, can I put it in my bag and bring here form the UK if I notify my carrier, Emirates or could I bring it over in pieces?? Not a firearm as such in the uk if below 12lb foot powerwise I think?

Air rifles require the same licence as a shotgun in Thailand, they are classed as a firearm. I have both an air rifle and a shotgun both in the wifes name nad it was the same process for both (the air rifle has a Thai serial number ingraved in to the stock).
And if you're wondering the air rifle is for remote snake control!! The shotgun is a bit noisy!!

Thanks for the replies, answers why, Its a nice quality rifle cost a fair few hundred £,s in the UK bought it about 6 years ago and I just like target shooting. I was also asked by a friend who has serious pidgeon problem if they were legal as a shotgun would demolish his houe. Thai Visa is a quick easy way to ask I always follow up by asking the relevant authorities to make sure. No it was to go in my bag not hand luggage. I reckon a Thai bought one will probably be well over the Uk limit so will get the wife to get one here I have got 5 rai of land shouldnt be a problem to get a little privacy shooting there 6 foot high wall etc no neighbours

When we applied for the licence, we had to give them a reason for wanting it also provide the standard map of the property and we were also asked for photos for the shotgun licence but then the reason we used for that was home security!

For the licence you have to make the initial application at the Amphur office. It should be quite easy as long as your wife has here name in the housebook in that Amphur.

It's quite a long winded proccess and has to be vetted by about 3 different local officials, you then get a 2 part licence and you can go and buy whatever is on the licence, the shop will then register the sale. From memory it coast about 2500 baht.

With 5 rai I don't think you'll have a problem getting it for "pest control", the main place to buy them in Thailand is around little india in Bangkok. You may well find that cost wise the price of an air rifle and a small calibre rifle are very similar, I think the air rifles are expensive compared to the UK.

If you need more info PM me.

  7. Have a look in the office depot mear Big C and Homeworks on Suk. Road at the top of Pattaya Tai. Failing that, there's the bulk section in Tesco Lotus or Carrefore!!

  8. Due to the recent tragic death of one of our cats, from a road accident, we are able to open our home to the adoption of a new kitten. We are life-long cat lovers and will offer the best of care and lots of love to the new member of our family. We are looking for a FEMALE kitten of between 1-4 months old, who has been hand-raised and is a "people" cat.

Preference goes to "hard-luck" cases and funny colourations are certainly encouraged. If you have or know of any cats up for adoption, please PM to me. We live in Pattaya so are limited to kittens in this area.

PS: We are looking to adopt (not buy) our new family member :o

We have a cat that's up the duff at the moment, you would be welcome to as many kittens as you like when they pop out, we have 3 cats at the moment so that's plenty for us!! PM me if you or anyone else is interested.

  9. AFP - Wednesday, March 19 04:22 amBANGKOK (AFP) -

Two Britons have been arrested on paedophile charges in the Thai beach resort town of Pattaya, police said Wednesday, adding that one of them had been detained twice before on similar charges.

They were arrested Tuesday in an apartment in Pattaya and charged with molesting children aged under 13, police said, declining to reveal their identities.

Thailand has been trying to clean up its image as a destination for paedophiles, joining in several international police operations to track down suspects hiding out in the kingdom.

In one of the highest-profile cases, a Canadian suspect was arrested last year on charges of posting hundreds of pictures showing him abusing children on the Internet.

He was captured after a global manhunt led by Interpol, and his trial is set to begin in June.

  10. Theoretically, immigration should look at the average monthly income over a period of 12 months. Therefore, if you earn 1 million Baht in 4 months you should qualify for the marriage extension. If earned in Thailand, you need tax receipts, if earned abroad you need the embassy letter.

    --

    Maestro

And that was my thought, but not the thought of Pattaya immigration!!! They wouldn't issue an extention and added "if I didn't like it, contact Bangkok. They make the rules".

I have all my tax forms and a copy of the WP which expired at the end of the job but they're not interested because it's not every month!!

    Crazy but then TIT!!

  11. The Singapore requirement is 400k in a bank account anywhere.

But if you have local employment (and can show tax payment on it) of 40k per month you should apply for extension of stay from Immigration. It only requires 40k per month family income for one year extensions of stay. But that is an Immigration figure - Consulates do not use that for issue of visas. Visas, even multi entry, can be issued with no financial requirements by some Consulates.

    Hey lop,

Here's the thing.....I actually fell short on the bank deposit by about 100K but I did take my wife's employment contract (worth about 200k a year) and my tax forms. Now I can't get an extention because I don't earn 40K per month (the per month is important) but last year I earned and paid tax on over 1 million baht in 4 months.

It seems that the embassy in SG will take that in to consideration where as immigration won't because I don't earn every single month of the year!!!!

    TIT!!

  12. The following was copied and pasted from the Thai Embassy's website in Singapore.

    Non-Immigrant Visa-O (Thai Spouse)

    Required documents are:

    1. One completed and signed visa application form

    2. One recent passport-sized photograph (3.5 x 4.5cm)*

    3. Passport (valid for no less than 6 months)

    4. Personal history.

    5. Airline ticket or confirmation slip with flight number date of entry/exit.

    6. Marriage Certificate.

    7. Bank Statement (at least 400,000 Baht)

Did you have to show either No 4 or 5 at the embassy to get a multi entry Non 'O'?

    Big A

OK, I did take copies of my current and expired passports and was promptly given them back with a "we don't need them"!! So I'm not too sure what they mean by Personal history. She did ask me what time my flight was, I would take a copy of the ticket just in case.

  13. Well, good news. Arrived in SG sunday night, went tp the Embassy bright and early but there was still a bit of a queue. I downloaded the application form and had everything filled in, it seems they have "personalised" the form and have a new form filling and waiting area just outside in the car park. I was about 20th in the line at the gate but because of the form change I ended up second at the window, which was a result!

The do now have on the website that you must show 400,000 in the bank, but does not have to be a Thai bank account, now here's the interesting bit.....

I have invested quite a sum of money in gold and fell short of the "in the bank" requirement by about 100,000, I didn't mention the gold but I did provide payslips for last year and tax forms stating the amount of tax paid (in Thailand), also the wifes contract of employment showing her salary (about 200,000) a year.

Paid my S$220, went back at 2pm on Tuesday, collected my nice shiney new 1 year visa!!

So it looks like all is well with Singapore!! But it did rain for 3 days!!!!

If you are quick picking the visa up and go directly to the airport (terminal 2) Air Asia have a 3.35 flight that is just about makeable!!!!!

Hi andyadam Planning singapore trip next week what paperwork do i need bank book showing over 800.000 i am british living in thailand past 4 years also do i need a visa.

No Visa needes for Singapore, as for paperwork, it depends on the grounds you're applying. Mine is for marriage and a child so Marriage cert and birth cert did me. All you will need is copies of bank books but they need to be up to date.

Good luck and have fun in Singapore, you can get a pint of "Old Speckled hen" at Muddy murphy's in the road next to Orchard Towers!!!!!

  15. I have had IP star for almost 2 years, it's a pile of poo!!!!! Very unreliable, very slow 90% of the time and when you get a problem it takes ages to sort out. I have had to tell them I was going to take the equipment and leave it in the soi for them to collect just to get an engineer here, he was here for 3 days "fixing" the problem which started again 2 weeks later!!!!

    Very bad customer service department!!!
