When you obtained your work extension, you signed a document that said you would notify immigration if your situation changed. You stopped working, and you failed to notify immigration. This can prevent you both from getting a new long-term visa or long-term extension until it is cancelled. Likely that will involve paying a fine of 500 baht per day up to a maximum of 20,000 baht. You will need to find out how to cancel it with the immigration office. Even going past November won't make a difference, because you still failed to meet the terms you previously agreed to. You need to find out from immigration what they want to cancel your old extension, and then try to get that.

You've already been vetted, submitted an application and been approved to enter Thailand when you have a visa. There's no reason to have to submit information again for an ETA. Travel authorizations across the countries that use them are for pre-authorizing and collecting information for people that are traveling without a visa.

This is a very good way to get pulled into an interrogation room and questioned about what you are doing and why you are playing games with your passports. All to save 1000 baht? Doesn't seem worth the risk. Even people just normally changing passports betwen trips get questioned often enough, but you are planning on doing it 2 times in short order.

Also solves the problem of all the retirement and other long-term visa people complaining that the 300 baht tourism fee could affect them. Now if it's only for visa exempt they won't have anything to complain about.

As of November 2023, Jomtien requires a new TM30 for returning from outside the country. It caught many people out and they got fined, because it was a change in policy. Also countrywide, you must do your first 90-day report in person after returning from outside the country. You might get lucky and they accept the online submission, but many many have been denied with the reason that they must go in person after returning.

There's literally only 2 embassies in the world that have terminology like this on their websites. And it's not a rule. But they can put whatever they want on their websites. To top it off, the embassies and consulate have no say in the entry policies, as that is immigration which is a completely different government agency.

That's not true at all. Thailand has a treaty with those countries and they still qualify for 90 days through that bi-lateral agreement. Previously Brazilians and Koreans could decide if they wanted the 30 days visa exempt or the 90 days visa waiver. Now they can decide if they want the 60 or 90.

Why are you trying to compare visa exempt (no visa) and a non-O visa? One is meant for tourists to come and make a trip to Thailand and then leave. The other is meant for someone that intends on living in Thailand, and can be extended in Thailand indefinitely if you meet the requirements. A tourist entry cannot be extended indefinitely and is not meant for living in Thailand. Trying to compare the two makes absolutely no sense at all. But regardless of any of that, the policy is the only that matters. And the requirement for a tourist visa and visa exempt is to have proof of onward travel within the number of days you will be stamped in on (60 days) whereas a non-immigration visa has no requirement for onward travel. A hotel reservation is not proof of leaving a country anywhere in the world. It just means you booked a hotel somewhere else. And Visa-on-arrival requirements must be STRICTLY met as you are actually filling out an application at the airport and handing that and the supporting documentation to an immigration officer to check and approve. If you don't have a ticket out of Thailand within the 15 days of the VoA (no extension possible) you are not getting your visa.

I'm saying that someone at immigration mistakenly entered .com for a url when setting up a new system, if it was even someone at immigration that set it up rather than some contractor. Then someone noticed the mistake and purchased the url to make a re-router to an online casino. Happens all the time when people notice that an incorrect url was entered somewhere.

The URL was registered on July 23rd, 2024. It's registered in Hong Kong. That's shortly after the new appointment system was being implemented. Just seems like someone put the wrong url. They would probably fix it if they were informed and then it would link back to the correct immigration website, but rather than inform them it's being debated on a foreigner forum.

What several years? The appointment system was just updated recently. The e-mail the op received was from that new appointment system.

My best guess would be that someone screwed up the link and forgot to use .go.th instead of .com Some entrepreneur noticed, bought that url and added the redirect.

If you are willing to limit it to about 5 months instead of 5.5, you can easily achieve that with a non-O marriage visa from your Thai embassy, and then the 60 day visiting Thai family extension based on on your spouse. That's 150 days total with only one online application before you leave and one visit to immigration.

TM30 can be done online by the property owner. If that's your wife she can just register and easily do it each time you return home. No need to deal with IOs.
