  1. another unhelpful reply from you. you really are the master of that!
  2. environment has a lot to do with happiness and contentment, at least for me. I mean, if one had a choice, one would likely choose to live in a nice big house with a private pool next to a turquoise lagoon, basking in the noon sunshine alongside 5 young thai maidens vs living in a trailer park in Michigan in the middle of winter, with your granny... No?
  3. thanks a lot! finally a decent list. Always wanted to visit Nan, I've heard it's beautiful.
  4. you call sitting in a pub on soi 4 civilization? 😄 only kidding, it's just I've done it to death. It brings me absolutely no joy anymore. Zero.
  5. There is also no mention of TEMPLES on my list either. Do try and read my OP properly next time before you reply, it makes it easier for all involved.
  6. Did I say anywhere in my thread that I want to live in rural Thailand? HOLIDAYS!
  7. I intend to explore Isan a lot in the coming months. Anywhere in particular you would recommend?
  8. yes I can deal with all that and it wouldn't be a permanent move (for now). I'm just looking for some nice, quiet & local holiday spots this high season.
  9. ain't that the sad truth. and Thailand just welcomes them with open arms in their droves. Such a sad state of affairs 😞
  10. So do I. But one that has no ruskies on it preferably..
  11. That's why I am asking for a list.... if you can't/don't want to help then please don't bother replying again.
  12. when did I say I want to leave? I am asking for a list of places WITHIN Thailand. Read the OP before commenting please.
  13. I see you live in Lampang. Lucky bugger. Might see you soon!
  14. Enough is Enough. Tourist ghettos no more, I am done with them, the tourists (especially you know who) are destroying this beautiful country with their terrible manners, unruly kids and general disregard for others around them and the environment. I need some new scenery or I am going to go mad (if I haven't already reached that point).. I would like to enlist the help of fellow AN members in asking where do you recommend I go with the following stipulations: 1. Hardly any farangs in sight, especially tourists. 2. Remote places, can be mountainous, towns, city, beach, jungle, whatever. 3. Reasonable food 4. Reasonable room rates 5. Real local people, no tourist BS. I welcome any and all input into this topic. Finally the tourist ghettos have worn me down - it took a while but it has finally happened. Now I understand Joe who retires way out in the sticks on a nice plot of land and a couple water buffalo with his young thai bride. There is something real in that kind of life that the ghetto just cannot provide. Wherever the tourists are going this high season, I'm not. I want a comprehensive list of places that are truly off the beaten track. Thank you in advance!
  15. Let's hope they DO gain momentum and Tony and his corrupt family are finally removed from Thai politics once and for all!
  16. what's disgusting about it? the sausage or the fish supper?
  17. ...alternative medicine that! Colin.
  18. my initially very serious thread has now been hijacked by the usual trolls so I am just playing along as I have nothing better to do and it is making me laugh - another good cure for depression/anxiety! they say laughter is the best medicine, don't they?
  19. if that was your pathetic attempt at sarcasm, KannikaP, then boy have you got a lot to learn!
  20. here's here now, comedian of the century!
  21. I've told you already, it's Colin. You do know that it's possible for two people to have similar writing styles/tastes, don't you? Whoever this bob is/was he must have been a real trailblazer on AN!
  22. ...that's about as far as you can go!
  23. I don't mind a bit of sausage in my bun every now and again. Not every day, though. I mostly prefer the fish supper..
  24. you seem to know a lot about ladyboys.
