  1. Probably the tariffs on cars because, just like in Europe, if tariffs were dropped/reduced consumers would rush to get the fuel efficient handy-sized US cars. I'm sure of it!
  2. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/donald-trump-tariffs-announcement-b2726424.html In a speech that sought to portray the wealthiest country in the world as a victim of the global system of trade it created, Donald Trump proclaimed “liberation day” on Wednesday as he announced sweeping tariffs on all imports into the United States. Precisely who was being saved, and from what, was unclear. If the initial market reaction is anything to go by, many Americans may soon be liberated from their retirement savings.
  3. And highly paid American workers will churn out plastic toys, socks, toothpicks etc. at amazingly low prices! A pack of clothespins you say? Just 28 $ - chump change!
  4. If I had any faith in you learning anything from it (or even read what I would have linked) I would have educated you. But I don't, so I won't.
  5. Congratulations, you've learned a big word today. Good for you, although most of us have known that word for decades. And now I'm gonna explain to you why characterizing these tariffs as reciprocal is incorrect. It's because the numbers are based on Trump's lack of understanding of basic economic principles, leading to completely random numbers. To put it bluntly, he's pulling these numbers out of his big fat behind.
  6. Thank you for that insight. BTW, did the police confiscate your underwear?
  7. Is it a requirement to be American in order to start threads on AN? If so then you don't qualify, right?
  8. If, by others, he means American consumers then he's spot on.
  9. Really? Personally, I'd pay good money to not have to see that particular part of his body.
  10. Man, those tariffs sure had an immediate effect!
  11. Oh do tell! Does less competition and higher prices sound like good ol' capitalism to you? Or does it sound like national socialism? BTW, just so you know Hitler named his political party the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische deutsche Arbeiterpartei or NSDAP).
  12. Impressive. In a mere three sentences you have demonstrated your complete lack of understanding of how these tariffs have been calculated and what the current trade situation is like. Congratulations!
  13. It looks like he's holding a trophy. She looks like she's thinking "I got him now!"
  14. Igor is so busy working for Putin the poor chap sometimes forgets which poster and topic he's replying to.
  15. Wise words. Now, if you could only take your own advice.
  16. I know. Not sure what that's got to do with what I wrote.
  17. This is exactly it. Instead of strengthening the American economy the tariff wall will weaken it. It's gonna be less to choose from and at higher prices. Another page from the socialist handbook brought to you by the wannabe fuhrer.
  18. I see your grasp of basic economic principles is as tenuous as your grasp of politics.
  19. Better check your Russian-English translation app, Igor. That doesn't make sense at all.
  20. Back up the claim that the current US government is made up of incompetent clowns? Well, here's a photo from the latest cabinet meeting. Do they look competent to you? PS. If you look closely you can see Pete "OPSEC" Hegseth posting on Signal the latest top secret decisions wrt Iran. You can also see Tulsi Gabbard reading and then promptly forgetting it.
  21. And you think that's a uniquely American phenomenon??? See above.
  22. ....says a guy who's avatar photo consists of a lame hoax.
