Pink I.D Card & Yellow Book
Bangkok Black replied to Bangkok Black's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Captains log, star date I cant remember now as this whole process is taking the p*ss, Was all set to go back to the local office today. We had everything ready, all the i.d, paperwork and also the extra things like the translations that the woman said they wanted the last time we went. Mrs had a good idea of suggesting her mother came as she is in the house book and also her friend as an extra witness. But then she decided to message the woman via Line app to tell her the above. The woman then says she cant help us but rather an appointment would be needed with a manager. ๐ We went anyway and the woman in question avoided us but we did see the said manager. The Mrs spoke with him and we are going back at 1pm Wednesday.๐ -
Update Seached around on Facebook and found a workshop that sells an "ABS box" as he calls it to bypass the ABS system. There are plenty of good reviews for this product he sells and he can fit it. So looks like I will be paying him a visit soon.

thats nice but I got a 155cc. Yamaha price is 20,000 baht for the genuine 155cc item.

No not really. I have been riding bikes of all sizes and types for years. I have never had a bike with ABS before. The NMAX I have are the first. While ABS is nice granted yes, personally speaking, I don't consider it a "must have". IF a bike I end up having has it then fine, if not then oh well no problem. If something bad is gonna happen and there's nothing you can do to avoid it and say its that fast that even having ABS wont make a difference.

I got 2 Nmax 155 and an Areox. These share the same engine but the Nmax have ABS, and the Aerox don't. The Aerox stops just fine without it and the NMAX with the ABS fault. If it didn't cost so much for the part I would change it. I have found 2 vendors via facebook that offer a work around to the ABS system. One has a workshop and seems to specialise in NMAX.

Update, finally got the translated documents from the agent โบ๏ธ When the wife gets a day off from work it's back to the local office. We have now got and done all that the woman wanted. So, I expect to get the i.d card and yellow book this time. -
I will try that, thanks

My NMAX has the ABS light showing. It stops great but the light is on.๐ I took it to the local Yamaha dealer to diagnose and they said it was the ABS pump (hydraulic unit) that's the fault. Damn, I was hoping it was just a wheel sensor.๐คฅ Looking at the Yamaha parts catalogue the price the dealer gave me ( for just the part mind you without labour charge to fit) is 20.748 baht is correct, As I said it stops fine without the ABS working, it's just the light is always on. They say it can't be turned off. Looking at other bikes on Facebook marketplace place there are lots for sale with the ABS light on 555 so it looks like people get a shock when told how much to fix so put them up for sale. I did find a YouTube video and someone shows a workaround to get the light off by getting a Honda Click wheel sensor and fitting that but I don't fancy doing that. Has anyone else had this trouble? Are any second-hand parts around? or a non-genuine make available? Any suggestions are welcome.

I am up and down the 304 regularly from Si Maha Phot to BKK. Some of the 304 is duel cartridge way and some 3 lanes. Its got its good sections with smooth running and good lighting then you come up against sections with no lighting and for about 5km in some sections, you can't use the nearside lane as it's so bad you risk damaging your vehicle or motorbike. If like me you use it regularly you know where to avoid the worst parts. You effectively drive along lane hopping all over the place to miss potholes etc. Then there are sections where there is lighting but its never on, could be faulty or not wired up or the local authorities trying to save a few baht even. So with all that said couple that lot with Thai drivers on their phones, badly maintained busses and trucks, scooters with no lights on, vehicles on the hard shoulder driving the wrong way against the flow of traffic, , u-turns you got a challenge alright 555.

The old site on Wireless Road I remember having to surrender all electronics. The new site is in a shared tower. So you put your bags in the scanner and you can take your phone etc with you. Also as I have said I wasn't backing down and in the end they took cash. -

Its more a plot of land with stuff planted all over the place with no thought given rather than a farm 555. Some of the plot is in the sun all day and some getting partial morning shade. As for water supply there is one but its not great. I think a petrol generator or pump needs to be hooked up to a timer and pipped correctly around the fruit trees is the best solution. -

I wasn't having none of that. I held my ground and as I said they took cash. -

Might as well get that filter changed and a change of coolant. Many don't bother with these. In case you didn't know if you go to Honda Thailand website you can look up your own parts and get the Honda Genuine price. Very handy as you know what the genuine items cost before going to the mechanic near the moo barn 555. I do this and you can do it with Yamaha also. -

Wo thanks. Lots of detail there. I am just having a go and am a total beginner to see if I can get any to grow. So far 7 have started growing and a couple are around 7 inches high right now. In the past, the Mrs. has bought mini trees from garden centres and just "plonked" them in any position on the plot of land she owns, with no thought given to shade or direct sunlight all day. Most have died, and only 2 are hanging on badly. -

its a drive belt and they should be changed regularly along with the rollers. They are usually sold together. I had this done on my Aerox and the old rollers looked like a 50 pence rather than round. So you getting it changed the bike will feel much better. Remind me, Click has an air filter or is it air-cooled? -

Update, Bangkok yesterday and first to the UK embassy. I rolled up, saw a dude at the counter who confirmed why I was there, handed over my passport, and went off to get the certified copy. When done he came back and asked if I had already paid ( I should have said yes) I said no so he asked for my bank card. I asked for a QR code to scan, "we don't do that " he replied. So he took my card. (Bangkok Bank) "Payment won't go through, you don't have enough money in the account " he said (there is plenty in the account) My wife offered to do a QR code but again was told no. She said she doesn't carry her bank cards (as it's Thailand so it's either cash or QR code everywhere these days๐คจ) So we had a standoff..... ๐ Do you have UK bank cards, he asked me, to which I replied no, I don't carry them with me. More standoff went by......๐ Ok, he finally said with a sigh, we might be able to take cash, let me ask. He came back and said yes we can take cash, so paid cash.๐คจ So a struggle but we came away with the copy. Then up to MBK and met with the agent who took copies of what he needed and we signed what he wanted. Once he has it all translated and signed etc he will post it all back to us.
