  1. Yes the UK has large coal reserves that is why the UK imports most of the coal that it uses. The UK has no facilities to produce coke for British Steel and I believe the recent deliveries came from Australia. Can somebody point out the Ed Miliband that bulk tankers don't run on fresh air.
  2. Ed Miliband is an idiot. His latest crazy idea is to have differential energy costs of the north of the UK and the south. The south being higher of course. So those on fixed national incomes living in the south, like pensioners, are screwed.
  3. I have have had a Kasikorn account going on for 11 or 12 years. I am only a tourist and use it to send money to Thailand when I am on holiday. I did notice that when ever I log on or use an ATM it says Savings Account but appears to work like a current account. So what exactly is the difference between a current and a savings account?
  4. Says everything there is to say about the hatred of the British by the EU. "and pressure from France and other member states to uphold a “Buy European” policy." Where do the French think Japan is?
  5. CN is China I guess. "flee tyrannical govts, oppression" you mean just like China? At least China bullies countries to take back its own refugees. May be the UK should bully France more to take back the ones crossing to the UK.
  6. The trouble is it goes read only on my computer. So have to uninstall and down load again or buy a package.
  7. Still free but after a while it becomes read only unless you buy a package. But if you uninstall the programme then re-install it the free clock starts ticking again.
  8. It comes up all the time here but what is a Netizen?
  9. The Victorians got the whole of Britain connected by rail in a lot less than a century. Using Thai expertise how long would the US have taken to connect the East and West coasts?
  10. Yes it did take a long time to get initial approval however the Thai rail ling has already started. It is only the next stage. Mind you the UK has ****ed up the last 5 miles from Old Oak to Euston. A bit like ending the Thai link at Rangsit then everybody piling onto a commuter train.
  11. I have no idea. Bank holiday this week end. I will check next week.
  12. Think how long it is going to take to do the 1000km from Bangkok to the Malaysian border.
  13. I read that as construction starting in 2031. Six years from approval to construction start?
  14. So was it 40 feet or 20 feet? Makes a difference. I would have thought 40 feet was survivable.
  15. I had the shingles vaccination about 4 years ago. I was never told that I needed a second shot. The only problem was I was due get a covid vaccination at the same time then there was a last minute decision not to have covid and shingles at the same time.
  16. Official tour guides have a guide id. I assume part if the bribe is to give the illegal guide an id. The guide then get free entry to tourist sites. How about the tourists sites looking at the tourist guide id and the Thai id card. Or are the tourist sites in on this as well. Seems to be Thailand is doing what Thailand does best and is protecting the officials taking the bribes.
  17. The penguins are fighting back.
  18. I can't speak for ID photos but mobile phone cameras are wide angle and distort the face. I hate the way I look in mobile phone photos, I prefer taking with a proper camera. I remember from my 35mm days and learning photography, even the standard lens on a 35mm camera was too wide angle for portrait photos. A slightly telephoto lens around 80mm focal length was best.
  19. The last time I was in a swimming pool must have been 50 years ago.
  20. Interesting that the US applies safety standards but the US expects other countries to ignore safety standards. So the US is expecting the UK to import Chlorinated chicken from the US.
  21. Untrue since the US still applies a tariff even if there is a trade surplus in their favour. And of course applies a tariff on uninhabited islands.
  22. Arm twisting negotiations? The US has an $11.9 billion trade surplus with the UK and the UK got hit with 10% tariff. The only negotiation is what the punitive tariff that the UK puts on the US is. It could be worse, the Netherlands has a negative trade balance with the US and a EU member has been hit with 40%. Trump really doesn't get this international trade thing does he.
  23. It is rather annoying when you see the the rate increase 13.8 to 15% but no mention of the reduced threshold which is the biggest deterrent. Many part tome workers who were previously exempt are now caught with employers and employees NICs. Then there is the frozen tax thresholds, but they haven't increase tax, like hell they have.
  24. The penguins in the Heard and McDonald islands must be quaking in their boots, if they had boots, with the imposition of a 10% tariff. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=Heard+and+McDonald+Islands+
