I think it's because one can usually move away from weirdo's in daily life, so they are not noticed as much. In a gym, there is nowhere to hide and it's usually a small space where the equipment is setup. Arnold had a good scene in 'Pumping Iron' but I think the particular gym he utilized was used mostly by professional level athletes (although it was a public gym), or at least those that used it were smart enough to not cause problems.

You're in the right location then. For me that's distraction, not relaxation.

I tried beach lounging at Jomtein Beach. Not relaxing at all. I kept getting approached, either for massages, guys doing those fake tattoos, some gay guy. It was just not comfortable. There was always something there that distracted from a quiet relaxing time. Pattaya Beach was the same way, although it looks like there could be stretches up North where it may be possible to be left alone. I never got up that far to check it out. I started lounging at the condo pool after that and never went back to the beach.

Do you have any idea why there are always weirdo's in gyms?

I did a return to the Usa a few years ago for about a year. I did not get laid at all. The women were just not interested. The only realistic option for a lot of older guys over there is street hookers, but it's very risky and not worth it (there are police stings all over, pimps, etc). The dating apps are full of other guys pretending to be women or using it as entertainment when guys respond. It's rare to even get a response on the apps. In person approaches risk harrassment accusations. Don't worry though, rock stars and famous artists still do pretty well..

The problem is that it's never really empty. There is always some dude there that is not great to be around. I actually do go at times of the day when there is less likely to be a lot of guys there.

It happens to all guys, no avoiding it. Usually starts in mid 50's.
