Its funny. The claims about the persecution of Christians in Nigeria are mostly false but even if true are not at all on the same scale as the persecution of adherents of the Druze religion in Syria. And unlike the situation in Nigeria, in Syria the govt is participating in this persecution. Yet Trump threatens military action on behalf of Nigerian Christians but has only warm words for the persecutor of the Druze in Syria. I'm guessing that there are not a lot of MAGA members who are Druze.

I think Trump has been sufficiently chastened by the consequences of his previous attempt to penalize China. But as for chips, no, China can't crush the US. In fact, a big obstacle in the dispute was Trump's barring Nvidia from selling advanced chips to China. Chip manufacturing is one area where China still lags the West and Taiwan.

I wonder how many Chinese students will actually want to study in the USA. Foreign tourism to the US has declined. And tourists don't have an investment of time and money like a foreign student would. Given how intrusive immigration policy has become and how arbitrary. that has to be a definite discouragement.
