  1. Officers can be heard shouting “he’s got a gun” when the unidentified agent reaches into Pretti’s waistband as the pile of officers try to subdue him. Just over one second after the officer emerges holding the weapon, a shot rings out, followed by at least 9 more, according to videos. The videos show that the officer who retrieved the weapon had nothing in his hand prior to approaching Pretti. It is unclear from the videos reviewed by CNN whether the officer who took the weapon from Pretti immediately told the others that he was taking it away. https://edition.cnn.com/2026/01/24/us/invs-videos-show-federal-officer-recovered-gun NB But the Post story above implies that the grey jacket agent who grabbed the gun accidentally fired it a second later.
  2. That is reasonable but it now seems the first shot came from off the the scrum, not from the ones who might have seen the magazine.
  3. Alex Pretti’s Sig handgun has history of accidentally firing — offering possible clue to why Border agent shot him (NY Post 25 JAN 2025) Armed Minneapolis anti-ICE protester Alex Pretti was carrying a popular handgun that has a history of unintentionally firing — leading some gun experts to suggest that the gun might have accidentally discharged after a Border Patrol agent grabbed it from him, causing another agent to open fire, killing him Saturday. Rob Doar, a lawyer for the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus, said he believes that Pretti’s gun went off after the agent grabbed it, leading the other agent to open fire. “I believe it’s highly likely the first shot was a negligent discharge from the agent in the grey jacket after he removed the Sig P320 from Pretti’s holster while exiting the scene,” Doar said on X. https://nypost.com/2026/01/25/us-news/alex-prettis-sig-p320-may-have-gone-off-accidentally-experts-suggest/
  4. that's clever. I'll have to tell that other Jerry guy.
  5. Only because as you said later about places to be avoided but this was Target Storee.
  6. Asking questions is fine. Up until the point where it comes off more as interrogation is not. When someone answers a question and the follow up is You didn't answer my question then that's where I stop.
  7. So maybe knowing that 'mistakes' may be captured on protester video will lead the ICE-folks to be a smidgen more careful. As far as my history with you, the only thing near certain is, if I answer a question, there will be another question.
  8. The video of which you watched 5 seconds took place at a Target where the ICE gang led by Greg Bovino himself went to use the restrooms. Target stores esp. in MN HQ state are not locations to be avoided. The encounter resulted in the arrest of 2 US Citizen employees. Later released.
  9. You like to ask these When did you stop beating your wife? questions as oft used modus operandi.
  10. Note: The right to protest is protected by the First Amendment, which guarantees freedom of speech and peaceful assembly, not the Second Amendment. The 2nd Amendment is the right to bear arms.
  11. OK So I guess means his intent, per White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, Pretti was a "would-be assassin" who "tried to murder federal law enforcement" and labeled him as a "domestic terrorist" via FOX News.
  12. Yes. But if you answer the question YES, the follow-up- question will be: Then why (insert contradiction)? And if you answer the question NO, the the follow-up- question will be: Then why (insert contradiction)?
  13. I have not. But I am only suggesting there may be other reasons for his carrying the gun other than with the intent to cause havoc.
  14. Yes -- you remembered; maybe he didn't.
  15. PACKED & STRAPPED FOR THE FRIENDLY SKIES? WHAT HAPPENS IF FORGET YOUR GUN IN YOUR CARRY ON? In 2019, the TSA confiscated 4,432 guns at security checkpoints in US airports nationwide. 87% percent of those guns were loaded. With the total number of guns consociated up 7% since 2017, more and more people each year are forgetting their firearms in their carry-on baggage. According to former TSA federal security director at Midway Airport, Kevin McCarthy, Most people just forget . . [t]he two most common excuses are, ‘I didn’t know it was there’ and ‘I just forgot.’ The ones we’ve encountered don’t have any ill intent.”[2] A concealed carrier who is "motivated" to carry every time they leave the house might, after a long day, fail to realize they are still carrying until they need to go to a prohibited area. https://www.criminaldefenselawyerschicago.com/what-happens-if-forget-your-gun-in-your-carry-on/
  16. So you didn't see the part where Bovino goes in to take a piss (the US variety not UK) and asks if they were American citizens.
  17. Whilst? The ICE guys were at Target to use the restrooms.
  18. Only those silly people that didn't self insure. huh?
  19. Border Patrol in Minneapolis intended to “kill law enforcement” officers and that agents “fired defensive shots” to protect themselves from him. Noem made those comments during a press conference on Saturday evening. Noem said the Border Patrol agents were conducting an operation to apprehend a violent illegal immigrant when the man who was shot — identified as Alex Pretti — interfered with the operation. “An individual approached officers with a 9-millimeter semi automatic handgun,” Noem said. “The officers attempted to disarm this individual but the armed suspect reacted violently. Fearing for his life and for the lives of his fellow officers around him, an agent fired defensive shots.” https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/kristi-noem-claims-ice-agent-231130092.html?
  20. Regulations pertaining to having a CCW permit in Minnesota The permit holder must have the permit card and a valid driver’s license, state identification card, or other government-issued photo identification in immediate possession at all times when carrying a pistol and must display the permit card and identification document when requested by a peace officer. Upon request of a peace officer, a permit holder must disclose to the officer whether or not the permit holder is currently carrying a firearm. https://protectmn.org/minnesota-permit-to-carry-laws
  21. AI Gemini: The Government's Claim: Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and federal officials claimed Pretti interfered with their operations by approaching agents with a handgun and resisting arrest. The Controversy: Multiple bystander videos and witness testimonies contradict the government’s account. These reports suggest Pretti was recording the interaction on his phone and was pepper-sprayed before being shot. While he reportedly owned a firearm and had a permit to carry, witnesses state he did not brandish a weapon.
  22. On January 24, 2026 in response to the Killing of Alex Pretti Essayli posted on Twitter: "If you approach law enforcement with a gun, there is a high likelihood they will be legally justified in shooting you. Don't do it!" The gun-rights organizations National Rifle Association and Gun Owners of America both criticized the comments. The National Rifle Association called these comments "dangerous and wrong" and called for a full investigation. Gun Owners of America responded by stating: "We condemn the untoward comments of U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli. Federal agents are not 'highly likely' to be 'legally justified' in 'shooting' concealed carry licensees who approach while lawfully carrying a firearm. The Second Amendment protects Americans' right to bear arms while protesting—a right the federal government must not infringe upon." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Essayli
