  1. I was reading somewhere that we must declare to Customs any items being taken on holiday by residents of LOS (items not bought here).

I have a Laptop and 2 dress watches originally bought in Kuala Lumpur 2-3 years ago. When I go to HK or KL or SG for 3-4 days, I take these for my own use.I have no intention of selling them (foolish, because would only get 30% of original price anyway).

Has anybody been asked to do this declaration and pay duty? I have no intent to avoid the law in any land, although I suspect that being stopped to fill forms would be a pain. Or is this just a rumour and "it won't happen" for small and obviously used items.

  2. 1. I fly into there every 4-5 weeks. Since the last big hoo-ha at Xmas, it seems better. 30 minutes or so.

    2. Don't queue with the tourists for a cab 2 hours + 50b more. Walk up 2 floors to departures and get some guy who is dropping off. Ignore the police. It's all a racket. Old hands have done this for donkeys'.

  3. very easy if Brit. Go to the Embassy webpage and print out your income declaration. Takes about 5-10 days to send it (you pay the EMS express 240b) BUT, unlike the USA where you can raise, your hand and swear, we Brits must send in our pensions advice, bank interests and anything else which takes you over 65,000b a month income. In about 5 days you will receive an embossed letter stating your sworn income proved by your papers and accounts and pensions advice.

If you dont have that income you must put 800,000b in a Thai bank SOME TIME BEFORE your visa and the get letters from the bank the day before that you have 800k.

Yes, you cannot be under 50.

  4. DMK is a cakewalk. Just go upstairs to departures. Cabs who are dropping people off will gladly take you. Don't worry about the police, they ignore you. It also means that you don't need to queue with newbies and tourists.

Presumably there is some kind of mafia, because the police ignore the pick-ups system. There were warnings of a clamp-down about 4 yrs ago, but nothing happened.

The same thing can still be done at Swampy, but it's more difficult because of the turnstiles upstairs. Still, it's not impossible if you are nimble and you hand your bags to a waiting cabbie.

  5. Once again, hang em and flog em! Then draw and quarter them after 24 hours on the rack! Isn't that what you Pattaya Dotards want????

No HOMOSEXUALS? err......well USAs 1.2 millions worth or 6,25 Thailands placed end to end worth. Not to mention the 50% of UK teens who are not 100% gay but admit to kissing other boys and having "plays" with the same sex in the showers or the clubs, according to a new poll.

Bring back Mathausen, I say! And Sobibor!

  6. I just bought new MacBook 2017 in KL.

The shop price was 5% less than BKK. Also you claim 7% at airport. So it paid my plane and my hotel.

Im no gamer or coder, but all the top specs are there.

Mac is probably not what you want but the support is good. I called Chicago and Auckland in recent years for tech help.

Here in BKK seems good for Cracks. My Office for Mac Full Suite cost 120b AND gives me the updates. Lunacy!

  7. As a non-racist gay white guy I can swear on a stack of bibles that the ghetto from Soi 3 to 13 in Nana is full of Africans ALL doing something dodgy--pimping, drug-peddling, running errands for dealers and sometimes picking pockets. I would never wear my Lange or Patek there. In fact, whoever stated that sitting on a hot wall for eight hours equals bad dude, that is obvious.

I have walked in Brixton, Barcelona and Bangladesh at night. Give me Brixton over Soi 3-13 any day.

  8. Dunromin is correct! Jump from 3rd Floor and you can sometimes get away with broken ankles and hip dislocations.

You need 21 floors----at least, I knew somebody who wanted it so he went up 21.

PS--I worked in ER for 12 years and I have seen more flyers (down) and One Unders (train and tube) than all of you amateur balcony watchers. But I feel better now that people have started to jump again. We had a long dry patch (not a sticky patch...).
