3 trillions, 7 trillions 10 trillions.. those are just numbers dream up by some pencil pushers at the ministry of tourism... no one yet has bought to task of lost a job punting out those wild numbers did they?...

The reality is governed by the value of the £ & $ against the Baht. It's not 75 Baht to a £ anymore. So there must be some truth in their figures.

Tell me how white people suffer disadvantage from racism. I'm not interested in hurt feelings from name calling, I'm interested in real consequences at a systemic level.

White people do suffer disadvantage if they are poor. That is a known fact, but many by their own efforts rise above it and make something of their lives. Two well known Brits without a high education and privalege, started life as market stall barrow boys. Their names Lord Alan Sugar and Sir Richard Branson. (Branson is a known dislexic). The Asian population I pointed out had a far bigger disadvantage than the Black population; in that they could not speak English. They were willing to work towards success and overcome their disadvantage. The Black population had a 10 year head start over them. There is only one Black disadvantage and that is the lack of effort to succeed in anything other than Sport, Entertainment, Politics and Crime. As Alan Sugar, Richard Branson and the Asian Community have shown, you can succeed if you try.

  3. It would be interesting to see the list of the 10 that are better than BKK. I have often seen CM listed as the best. I don't know if it still is. Its variety of International rstaurants, with a variety of more sports and activities than BKK. Plus it is surrounded by numerous National Parks that BKK does not have. There can't be many places in BKK where you can buy a Home with a garden like in CM. Therefore whatever BKK has CM matches it with a lot more. Yes both BKK & CM do suffer bad pollution, so equal in that respect.

The insurance requirement is even more crazy now given that the effectiveness of the vaccine significantly reduces the severity of the illness….the vast majority don’t need hospitalization let alone icu care….

98% in icu in usa are unvaccinated….

why doesn’t thailand produce the cost of medical care for the fully vaccinated in-patients?

see how that number stacks up against $100,000 coverage

I looked at my alternative to Thailand. The Costa Rica. Insurance cover required $50,000 with private insurance or the governments own insurance with cover of $20,000. bearing in mind the cost of living is slightly higher than Thailand, but less bureaucratic restrictions.

Under the government in place., yes he was a criminal.    He was crucified for treason.  This is not disputed in history.  He spoke and fought for what was right, and much of what he did were crimes against the laws of the land.

And that fact does not erase him as the savior.

If he was around today. He would not be considered a criminal, but exonerated under International laws of Human Rights. The Roman Governor did not consider he had done any wrong, but was only willing to bow to the wishes of the local Pharisees.

The renewal detail is important as 60k is real money and if you do need to show it more than one time for even one renewal based on bank cash thats not trivial. The income method is similar to Thailand except lower requirement and must be imported with no embassy letter option for any nationality. The irony is you can live decently in Thailand for 1000 a month but not Costa Rica. If it was based on basic cost of living Thailand's income requirement should be lower and Costa Rica higher.

There is no rule where you have to forever keep $60k in a bank. You have to on  arrival deposit it in a Costa Rica Bank. Nothing stops you freely spending it. If you want to stay you can't transfer it back out of the country unless you leave.

Good thing Jesus not born now, he'd just be a criminal (he was one then too actually).  And canceled into shame.

Just because he rejected the eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth of the Pharisees by preaching love thy neighbour as thy self did not make him a criminal.

My info says the retirement income needed is 1000 not 1500 and that it must be imported every month. Are you are it is 1500?

Also my info says the 60k is an option to the income method not an AND..

Also you need to renew every two years under the same rules.

Sorry. You are correct on the $1000. The official information says you can get permanent residency  after 3 years. I have not seen the every 2 year bit, but overall the Upsides are all far better than Thailand. Especially the 90 day sign on. If they changed the Land ownership rules in Thailand I would reconsider Chiang Mai. In Thailand a foreigner is a Government ATM where they take as much tax from as they think they can get away with!

The downside is also all the bs involved in doing anything with the government. From your car to your property to even dealing with banks. My friends just gave up on CR after almost 20 years. Just couldn't take it anymore. Moved to Florida. LOL.

That's just one friend. There's always one. You forget all the thousands that have given up on Thailand. I spent less years going to Spain than Thailand and the language is easier to learn than Thai with all their tones ( Tone, Toan and Toni). One UPSIDE I forgot Costa Rica does not have Thailand's impinging air pollution.
