Thailand is the 29th on testing and UK 10th.

    Thailand= 2k test per 1 million

    UK= 7k per 1 million

The UK tests more, but Thailand is definitely testing.

Everything points towards it that there won't be an alarming outbreak in Thailand. Believing otherwise is unfounded with evidence and sheer panicking.

The UK testing is so efficient because they just have to only count the number of Dead Bodies.

  2. If you are registered with the UK Embassy. They are giving daily email updates of available flights from some regional airports and other flights from BKK to UK, but expennsive.

it is cheaper for me to stay while I can. To fly home now would be like flying straight into Death Row. Empty Supermarkets and a food delivery service of up to 2 weeks wait there. So I am Definitely Staying.

  3. The best never. I don't suppose he has ever been to Costa Rica.
Go there and get 90 days on arrival. A 2 year Visa for $200 and another $100 for the 3rd year. After which you can get permanent residency. You need to put $60,000 in a Costa Rican Bank. Unlike the 800,000 Baht you can't touch. You can invest your $60,000 in a home or business straight away. Minimum income needed is $1000 a month. In Thailand you can only lease up to 1600 sq. ms. (1 Rai). In CR you can buy 4 to 5K sq. ms. for far less money than Thailand and you own it freehold. There is NO signing on at immigration every 90 days. Of course it has no Military Junta as it does not have an army. Compare it to Chiang Mai. Cool season 15C CR West Coast 17C . Hot season CM 37C to 41C whilst CR averages 34C. CR does not have CMs high level of pollution. Cost of living is higher but worth it or it is about the same if you only buy imported food. Another big plus is Medical Care is free for all residents. Have I wasted too many years coming here????????

And pay for a hotel for a month and other expenses with stricter lockdown now then there?

Rent a Condo for a month is far cheaper than a Hotel. The months price of a hotel would allow you to stay for 6 months in a Condo. I rent a house for a year and it is cheaper for me for 3 months stay than a hotel. With my flight cancelled I am happy to stay rather than return to the UK. The UKs FAKE PM trying to pose like a FAKE American President is letting everything get out of control. He is the one who said he would get things done. Instead we GOT DONE! He was the one who was going to build 1 hospital a week for Brexit. He hasn't built 1 in 5 months.

The flu that has decimated healthcare systems worldwide, cost thousands of lives and ruined the global economy.

    It originated in Wuhan, China.

Named by CNN, MSNBC etc as China Flu when it was first uncovered.

I like the name...makes it easy to know who to direct my anger at.

No logic in that. 100 years ago the Spanish Flu was actually an American Flu from the Midwest according to an American documentary on YouTube.

  6. All the Airlines are doing just as they please at the moment. Many are ignoring the Warsaw convention and the 1999 Montreal Convention.
I should have returned to the UK at the beginning of March, but my airline cancelled my return flight. They refunded just 3000 Baht to my

credit card that I originally paid them with. Which is not enough for a return flight. Although I see my situation as a blessing in disguise,

because the COVID-19 situation is worse in the UK than it is here in Thailand. I have done one border run for a visa, but don't know what

to expect when it is due for renewal or extension.
Still Hollywood could never invent a horror story of the world shut down with COVID-19. It is totally beyond their imagination. Someone is

probably right now writing the script for the COVID-19 Biopic.

This makes a change from the many stupid comments based on ignorance in this thread. There are many Youtube videos by companies in the US such as BuildBlock, Numura and FoxBlock. Their main advantages of ICFs are you can build against floods, wind speeds up to 250 mph and the vibration forces of earthquakes in a cost effective manner. The thermal efficiency reduces energy costs as much as 70% in both cold or hot climates. Correctly built it is unlikely you would ever need aircon. The basis of ICF is the polystyrene forms and the power to weight ratio of the 'styrene makes it the strongest material in the world to build with. With the concrete and the rebars in the assembly, you have a much superior build. The fact that they build commercial buildings in this type of systems and the tight building regulations (Codes) in the US. ICFs started in Europe about 30 years ago, which I saw being built into hotels at that time. They have gained increasing popularity in the US since the beginning of this century. Anyone who wishes to comment on this should do their own research.

But I am wondering what could try to do a Thai seller not happy to lose 20000 thb ?

It seems to be the reason why lazada does not accept some international credit cards ? Too easy to get refunded...

Exactly. Proves my point and cheaper than going to court.

  9. If your Credit Card company is satisfied with your answer after contacting the supplier for their comment. Then they will refund you and take the money back off of the supplier through the international banking system. A Credit Card is a valuable insurance on anything over purchased over £100 in the UK.

I had a 1 year temporary DL and then I got a 5yr DL and have since changed to Elite visa. Recently renewed my DL and they gave me 5 years. I had asked the Elite personnel and they said only 2 years.

So I guess it depends which Land Transport Office you go too....this was in Phetchabun province. Very helpful people there ?

Seems like if an office is very busy they will give you 5 years. If they are not too busy they will make it 2 years to keep themselves in work and a job. This can happen with anything in any country, not just Thai Government Departments.

If you are using it continually for a year that is in fact illegal in Thailand. Officially it can only be used for 3 months then you should get a Thai licence.

True you can only use it for 3 months. As he says he comes 2 or 3 times a year. There is nothing stopping him getting a new one each time he comes. Each one lasting 3 months of use. Cost £5 (or 250Baht) per permit.

It’s most unusual for English companies to ask for a Police record check.  This is normally only requested if working with Children or in healthcare.

What job have you applied for or are you just speculating that you may need one ?

You also need clearance with a background check if you want to work in fashion or entertainment with children. A Police record check here would just be a first step to getting the certificate that verifies you.

  13. To start with you need to check the number of units you use per unit cost over a couple of months. If you are able to use them. If the figures are not correct then you need to go the Electricity company's office and get it sorted out. If the figures are correct maybe it's time to think about buying solar power, taylored to the amount of electricity you use. You could think about changing your light bulbs to LEDs, if possible. that saves a lot of electrical energy.

  14. I don't know about running, but men in shorts and women in bikinis sunbath in the park of the old city in Chiang Mai. It does not seem to worry anyone. Including Thai parents with children. Its only a problem if people complain in numbers.

  15. Thailand is fun. When I first came to Thailand in 2006 they did not know Xmas existed. Since ten they have adopted it with Santa and Christmas lights. They like to celebrate New Year 3 times. Western New Year, Chinese New Year and their own New Year in April (Songkran). While I was still paying off my mortgage in the UK I have been able to rent a house in Chiang Mai for the last 8 years and only stay 3 months a year. 2019 hope to move to  permanently. Some restaurants the menues are in multi language formats. In others its only in Thai, so just point to the picture of what you want. Chiang Mai is getting more expensive due to an increasing number people from Bangkok moving here. Which is not suprising as the lifestyle is more varied and the choice of thing to do far greater than you can find in Bangkok. Or anywhere else in Thailand for that matter. English is spoken more widely than in most European countries. Although I find Chinese tourist tend to speak better more fluent English than Thais. The only compulsory expenses are Electric, Water, Rubbish collection bills (their cheap) and the compulsory Government Insurance if you own a Car or Motorcycle. There is no Municiple taxes, as local services are paid from 10% of the 10% VAT. Prices are steep to visit National Parks compared to the price Thai nationals pay. Riding or driving be wary vehicles pulling straight out of road junctions without stopping or looking. Some crossroads have no road markings, so it is not clear which road is the main road. If there is an activity you indulge in then there is likely to be a like minded group to join.

Thailand does have an immigration policy as you can apply for Permanent residency.

Doing 90 reports has to do with non-immigrant visas

Doing the repetative 90 day reports is what makes it a probation service treating foreigners like criminals. You have to get clearance of any criminality from your home country. Otherwise you can't get any form of residential visa. Thus the 90 day report and TM 30 are both pointless.

  17. Reading all the above answers it seems like the average market rate for copying is 1 to 2 Baht. If buying a printer as a photocopyer means you don't need to use it with a printer, but may need to connect to one to set it up. If printing a lot over time then an EcoTank model is the cheapest option, which will give you over 4000 pages before refilling the ink tanks.
