  1. Actually there's money to be made from the English language ...it's one of our largest unseen exports, and the growth of a home industry is very tempting.

There's also a lot of "us" and "them" mentality here, which is crap. Many of these people are not "Coming in" they ARE in! This is the EU; "they" & "we" are part of it so get used to it....that makes it all "US" by my calculations.

There is no such thing as a permenant culture, no such thing as race so wake up and smell the coffee!

Wilko, the people who are ranting on here about it are the type of losers you can meet in most English pubs on a weekday afternoon. They simply missed the boat, can't compete in a more agressive work arena, are not as good at the job they do as the next man is or are just plain stupid. :o

The influx of a large foreign work force in to the UK opens up huge potential for the local population to make money, it just seems like Robski and company are to slow to be able to spot these opportunities . :D

  2. :o

Grow up Don, funny comment coming from the bloke who PM'd me and said if I had anything to say i should come to Bangkok and say it to his face, 'cos he knows lots of people in BKK.

BTW members he forgot to include his address.

Knobski, you were the one sending me PMs not the other way round, i had to block you from sending them as you seemed to have such a fixation on me.

    Freak :D

  3. Take one example here from a man who lives in Gt Yarmouth . If you had known that town about 20yrs ago and now, you would understand what I am talking about. Other areas of Eastern England have also seen their demographics completely change almost overnight.

Aside from the economic factors we are looking at large significant amounts of cultural upheavel with local populations feeling marginalised.

I don't think we are talking about immigration per se, it is the scale and also the timeframe. For some of the older members of the population it is almost like living in a different world.

Do the people af Pattaya for example not feel this way? Priced out of the housing market etc, farang pushing up the price of everything, all the farang owned bars, travel agents, dive outfits etc. :o

  4. I don't have any pictures on my computer of my last trip but promise to post some here of this trip as soon as i get back.

First Air Asia flight from Bangkok is at 06.55 and arrives at Hat Yai 08.20, i'm on the second flight of the day which is at 08.40 and arrives at 10.05. Air Aisa has six flights per day to Hat Yai from Bangkok.

Once you are at Hat Yai airport you have basicly two choices on how to get to Pakbara pier.

First choice, you can buy (inside arrival hall) a ticket for a mini bus to take you to Hat Yai city/town and this will drop you off neer the train station, opposite the train station is a mini buss office and from there they will take you to Pakbara.

Second choice, Take a taxi from right outside the arival hall and go straight to the pier, the cars are not marked as taxis but are all nearly brand new, you have to haggle for the price of the 1.5 - 2 hour drive.

When you get to Pakbara dont just jump on the first boat that is going there, ask at all the ticket boothes for the fast ferry, this takes almost half the time of the normal ferry.

BTW. Even though the staff at the Lipe resort are not the best i'm still staying there again this time as it is so convenient, besides you can eat at other places and the food is not bad when you do get it. Phoos is a great spot for a bite to eat and is a 5 min walk inland from the beach.

A couple of good websites to look at are here.

    Cheers.

  5. I was on Lipe in Feb and i am going back next monday for 4 days, i guess the italian with the monkey people are talking about is at the 'jumping monkey' bar right next to Lipe resort where i stayed.

The staff at Lipe resort are unfriendly and they are slow, the food takes for ever to arrive if you can get the staffs attention to order in the first place. Lipe resort is very convienient though and the bungalows are clean.

The water is superb for snorkling and you only need to go a few metres from shore to get to the reef. If you hire a boat you can find some great uninhabited islands and more great swimming, diving and snorkling.

I found the beaches very clean and the water crystal clear.

Make sure you take enough cash as there are no ATM machines either.

I'm on an air asia flight from Bangkok on monday morning to Hat Yai then jump in to a car at Hat Yai to go to Pakbara pier in Satun and will be snorkling around Lipe by 2pm.

Cheers and enjoy but dont tell everyone.

  8. Hi there Scott1999. I was just reffering to Knobskis constant moaning about the UK on this forum and his petty little tantrums if someone dares to disagree with his thoughs.

He was crying about immigrants going to the UK but yet he has 'moved' to Thailand though i doubt he will stay the long run.

Cheers, good luck and i hope the back gets better.
