I am now the proud owner of a shiny new UK Passport. Good for the next 10 years in Thailand. What wasn't good was a phone call to collect my passport from 09:00 hrs. Wrong, collections can only be made after 10:00 hrs. So the TG and me waited for one hour in a crowded corridor with nowhere to sit. They wouldn't let me in to sit in the internal waiting area even though I had just driven 500km, leaving home at 02:00 hrs. At 10:00 hrs prompt I was given a ticket and told I would be seen at counter #10. After 55 minutes and lots of thumb twiddling I was still waiting and there was another 7 customers to go before me when a woman from counter #11 announced something quite unintelligible in "English". I really couldn't understand. No one went to the counter so I chanced my arm and was seen. They have a list of names and on the shelf behind were piles of DHL A4 sized envelopes. I got 2. One containing my passport and the other my supporting document (evidence of residence). I noticed the issue date of my passport was 23 April 2014. I don't know if it was by chance or design they had both envelopes. I certainly wouldn't have been too happy to have to travel to BKK again to collect the letter.

After I signed for the documents, the woman said she was going to cancel my old passport. I was expecting an official stamp, but no, just a stamp saying cancelled on the back f the photo page.

So after applying using the old system, I collected via the new. Total cost, 12,000THB for the trip because I decided to have a good blow out in Pattaya. Well worth it.

Has anyone as yet had a new Passport returned, sine the new rules applied?

It took my partner 11 working days, that was three weeks ago.

You can top up the card at 7/11 or at a bank. I got my at the auto show, but long time to wait until the next show

How do you Top up at a 7/11, do you just take the card supplied, and hand over the amount you want topping up?

You have to pay with a bankers draft, cash and cards are not accepted.

You don't need to pay the 300B mentioned on that page for the residence certificate unless you want it immediately. If you can wait it's 200B which is still 200B more than it should be.

Doctor's certificate is 100B in most clinics.

Thanks BPB, Some says that if i have a work permit ,which i have, i don't need the residence certificate. Is that correct?

You do not need a certificate of residence if you have a work permit.

Yes, a Residence Permit is Required of All Foreigners regardless of your Visa Type.

Last time I went, I took my WP, with no Residence Permit, which was accepted, no questions asked.

For my clarification, do I need to open many accounts to keep under the 20k interest paid yearly to avoid paying tax?

I opened a fixed rate account yesterday with Krungsri, I wanted to put in a resonable amount, but was told it would be better for me to open several accounts to avoid tax payments, this just seems a long winded way of doing it, but if it avoids tax then I will do, any advice please, and is this still one of the best deals around?

The advice you were given works although strictly speaking the banks are meant to aggregate accounts for interest purposes but most do not do this.

The pollution & heat that they kick out is horrendous.

If you're near a few when they are parked up then you get the full benifit as the drivers often leave the engines running to keep the AC running properly.

I don't think that they should be allowed down the small sois nor allowed to drop-off & pick-up as they please on Beach Rd.

Traffic would flow better if they stopped at allocated coach stops on 2nd Road & their passengers can walk the short distance.

Totally agree, they should keep out of the small Soi's.

Is it me, or are there more and more coaches around these days, and they drive even worse than the motorclycles

I have been using this on Sophon Internet, i have the 10mb package and have been watching the Olympics live with out any problems, very good indeed.

Couple of years back they came to my home only 2 or 3 days after the 7-11 date passed ready to cut me off, managed to stop them by promising to go to the office immediately and pay the bill, which i did.

Same for me last month, missed the payment date for 7/11 after 3 days they were at the house ready to remove the meter.

I currently live at (address), sharing with a friend, where Pikky stays every night. Pikky currently still maintains his own apartment until we find somewhere to live together later this year. Say why you do not live there now, does he share too?.

Over the past 3 years we have travelled together to Hong Kong two times, South Africa (Cape Town) and Shanghai China.

In July of 2011 Pikky bought the leasehold to Cupidol bar with my financial help, this has been a good success which you can see from the accounts submitted.

Pikky will hand the responsibility of the bar to Mr Dang the current manager of the bar and a friend for many years, he is more than competent in doing so. However, he is the owner of the bar and this would only be a temporary arrangement Provide proof of ownership. Pikky has a very good profitable business with 30 plus staff he is responsible for and cares very much for their well being.

Pikky also owns a car (papers attached) which he is now into one year of payments made, he definitely would not want to lose that.

Pikky is an intelligent individual and understands very well it would be folly to jeopardize our relationship or any future trips we may want to make to the UK in the future.
