  1. They sent me some of the parts I wanted, some I didn't and a REFUND FOR THE REMAINDER IN CASH!!!!!! The cash was in an envelope in the box. They shipped by NimSee Seng which is not what I paid for and am lucky nothing got broken.

Because of the parts not in stock the ones they sent me cost an additional 4000 baht. So now I need a processor which they conveniently left out in order to charge for the other parts.

I will never use them again and would highly recommend avoiding THANNI.com

Terrible customer service, one line email responses and basically they take your money as a pre-order before they check with their suppliers to see what's in stock.

They have no stock of their own and wait for your money to arrive so that they can then purchase the items you order. Nice if that was stated somewhere on the site.

I ordered the rest of the missing parts from INVADEIT.CO.TH and am thrilled with how it was handled. Professional customer service and confirmation of all products before payment is made. You can even call them and talk to one of the expats who manage the company. Their prices are a little higher but you get what you pay for and I am grateful as they helped me sort out this terrible experience shopping for computer parts in Thailand with thanni.com

  2. They refuse to give me a refund and now say they will send the parts they have. What good is half a computer?

I don't even know what they will send as they kept saying this is available and now its not, etc. I talked to another poster who said the same thing happened to him and the refund was sent in cash inside the shipping box!?!??!

So I got half a computer coming with parts unknown and they still have my money.

  3. The more I dig on the web the more I find.

This problem is not just a one off. Your story sound identical to many I have read online. The thai web forums have a host of information on the company.

I had previously order parts from them a few times before and everything went smoothly so I felt no need to be concerned this time.

I am currently asking the company to return my money and then that will be the end of it. The thai forums have stories of people actually going to the police who then go to the company's address to get the money back. I really hope it does not need to go this far but it is a path I will be willing to take for the amount of money involved.

  4. Anyone else have trouble getting what you ordered from Thanni.com?

I placed an order last Friday (May 27th) for a 35,000 baht computer system and the parts were confirmed as stated in the site. I paid as required and after numerous emails I found out today that half of what I wanted was not available. So now I have to order a system with parts that are mixed and matched and not what I specified. This I do not want to do as I don't want to mix cheap parts with quality ones or have to pay more for higher end gear.

I asked them to cancel the order and they said they can't as the parts are already ready for shipment! How can they be ready if half of them are not available?

Anyone have any suggestions? They have no phone number and the emails go largely unanswered. I am afraid that I am now out 35,000 baht.

    Help is much appreciated.

  5. ^^ Neither was I. But I was brought up with enough self respect and dignity that if I gave someone my word I would honor it even if it's was at my expense. Maybe it's old fashioned but keeping your word shows a lot about character.

  6. I find other farangs, especially your own country men, are the ones most likely to rip you off in Thailand. I lost a lot of money on a deal because I took a man's (term used loosely) word as the truth; similar to your handshake scenario chiangmaibruce.

  7. As the title says I've got a set of keys to a "Red, 1999 Audi A4 2.4 V6"

These laser cut keys cost a small fortune to replace (as any VW or Audi owner can tell you) so I'd like to find the owner and give them back. I do have the VIN# to the car and if you are the owner or know who he is please PM me to verify the VIN# and set up a time to return the key.

    Thanks for your help.

  8. Well guys, this is it for me. We have had a lot of people wanting unity and for the hash to get back together; well no one has done anything till now. I am going to be the first to do something, I am finished hashing. It has just gotten to be too much. All I ever tried to do was the best I could.

I guess my most controversial decision was that I wanted to keep the male hash male only. This little fact seems to have gotten misconstrued and exaggerated in the last 6 months. I have heard all the rumors and some of the not so nice things being said about me; as I am sure you have.

In hindsight, I guess it would have been better if the former GM, who elected me GM and then immediately tried to get a coalition together to kick me out, had in fact succeeded. If I would have known going in the direction I thought was best would have caused this infighting, I would have never accepted the GM position.

We have lost a lot of good hashers, hopefully my decision will now bring them back.

Again I did my best and just tried to do what I thought was right. I went in my own direction. Some may have thought that I was being manipulated, this is just not true. The fact that I did not let myself be manipulated was my biggest downfall.

I now leave the hash in LIBERACE’S hands. He is now the new GM of the CH3. Hopefully it will get back on track and I think in his hands it will. So for those of you who refused to come back while I was GM, now is your chance.

    Onon and good luck,

    fag

  9. But what if you get a better price from a Thai owned company...how far will your loyalty stretch?

If I have read this thread correctly, it is not a question so much of the loyalty mobs00 has to farangs as it is a lack of trust he has in Thais.

You are both wrong. It is about supporting other expats here in Chiang Mai.

  10. Today's CUMH3 (June 17) Drive just past Mae Jo University and look for HHH signs at the u-turn follow, make the turn and look for signs on the left.

  11. Hi,

Was just wondering if anyone knows of a map or directory or Business to Business that lists the expat businesses in our community.

I prefer to spend my money on other expat ventures. I need some living room furniture and appliances. Does anyone know of an expat business that sells these?

I just feel more comfortable supporting someone who has also decided to live here in Chiang Mai. There is a certain level of trust I have dealing with other expat owned businesses.

    Cheers.

  12. The Peak Bar near the Night Bazaar now has a for sale sign up..........

That whole area is about to die and go meet its maker.

I always thought this area would be a great spot to combine all the nightlife "activities". If the bars on Loi Kroh and the kickboxing and a few massage parlours along with some small food establishments set up there it would be a one stop shop. This in itself would attract a lot of customers as they would only have to go to one complex instead of what we have today. This type of nightlife is so spread out around the city its no wonder they are struggling; no one knows where to go or no one wants to bounce from here to there to there.

  13. Can anyone confirm that a couple of Farang-owned bars were recently fined 20,000 baht, with customers caught smoking fined 2,000 baht?

All smoke and mirrors :o I was in a bar/restaurant the other week and drinking with one of the local BIB's. He lit up and asked for an ashtray. It's one of my favourite bars as they don't give a rats about the smoking ban, although they have signs everywhere, TIT rules

Surely it wouldn't be profitable for him to levy a fine against himself........

  14. I have searched the net and searched this forum and have found conflicting reports.

I wish to obtain a Non B visa. I don't want a work permit. I have read that the company "inviting" you for employment needs to show 2 million in capital, but I have also seen it not mentioned in the requirements. I know you need 2 mil per work permit but I am only looking to get the visa.

Can anyone help? Is this a new requirement? I plan on going to Vientiane to see if they will give me one but need clarity on this one point.

Also, should I apply for a 60 day tourist visa there before I apply for the non B just in case I don't get it?

    Thanks in advance.

  15. I contacted the brewer who is actually a subsidiary of Chang beer, seems that it is not yet available for distribution in Chiang Mai. Tesco buys their supply from BKK and transports it using their own trucks.
