I have noticed that certain idiots continue "playing" until about 8:30 PM, but I've always been told that the official time to stop in 6PM. That make it almost impossible to go out for a dry dinner in nice clothes.
Come to the pub crawl tonight then, you certainly wouldn't have to "dress up" for it.

mobs00, I did look for you at John's Place on Friday from about 12PM to 12:30 PM, but I didn't see anyone who looked lost but me. I forgot my squirt weapon and went to get it, but never made it back until 2PM. Sorry.
I was there with a group of friends from 12-4:30pm. I probably even sprayed you in the face!

This Monday CH3 run is a pub crawl, as it falls right into Sonkran. Mr. Poo, with intimate knowledge of every single pub in the city centre is the hare and went out during this week for scouting. Did he really have to do that?
In any case be at the Hash pub at 7:30 PM on Monday April 14, 2008 to start the pub crawl and get a few or more beers into yourself.
if you were the group that came into the number 1 bar on saturday afternoon then i would like to comment on your so called happy easy going team, if bringing a 10 year old girl to tears for having a piece of chicken off the bar is what you call funny and in the spirit of song kran then i think you need a serious look at your morales. next time pick on the dad not the daughter.
I was not involved and do not know if the Hash is the group in question. But just out of curiosity, why would someone bring a child to a bar where things of the nature we cannot talk about in this forum happen regularly. I don't and would not allow it. The language used in bars is one good reason.

There are still 20 members logged on, why aren't you with us having a boring time at John's place?
Well, I'm off. See you there!

Today is the slowest Songkan day that I can remember and many hotels are not full that usually are sold out months before.
On the bright side, hopefully accidents will be minimal this year.
Hopefully it will be easy to get into the city tomorrow......
-
I'm not surprised that now I am confused

Oh, and where does the majority of the water come from? I take it it isn't nice and fresh mineral water, just begging to be drunk?
I got some in my mouth!

I was just at John's Place scouting it out for tomorrow. Loi Kroh was full on and John's Place had quite a few throwing water.

I still haven't seen one pickup with a barrel of water near Thapae Gate. Maybe they are blocking them from the downtown area?
Most of the action downtown is usually between pedestrians fighting with passengers in vehicles, so stopping that would reduce the insanity considerably.
A lot of traffic near Rajabaht University, traffic jams up to the superhighway. But no water yet.

It's on the front of todays (which is always dated a day ahead which may explain why I can't find a link on their website) Thai Rath newspaper.
At just before 1pm a man entered SCB Tapae Gate (guard had gone out to lunch), went to counter and passed over a note to staff that he wanted money. Pulled one bag out of larger bag for money and there was an explosive device in other bag.
Once he had a couple of bundles of money (150,000Bt) he said it was enough and left the bank, leaving note and explosive device on the counter. Got away on a motorbike parked 20m away.
Staff threw explosive device out onto street
An awful lot of police and a bomb disposal squad arrived after.
I can vouch for that as I drive past about 1.05pm. Hopefully they had detonated the bomb before I drove past as they hadn't closed off the street.
Why does the Darwinian principle "survival of the fittest" not apply in this country?
And, how did they decide who gets the honors? Did they pull straws or did the guy with the most "luck" get to do it? Or maybe the guy lowest on the social hierarchy?

Maybe we should start another thread and have a vote on the best beer in Thailand.
I personally prefer Leo.....um, beer with Singha as a close second
Sorry guys, I neglected to include San Miguel and San Miguel Light in the discussion.
Note: The beer can be seen in the background.
It seems that the main discussion is about drinking cheap beer and lower class thai ladies promoting booze by exposing their secondary female sexual characteristics. Did I really travel that far to see this? Nope.
Secondary!? Lower Class!?
Apologies if we can't all live up to your high standards.
Only two more days to go!!!

Personally, I think the first few days are the most fun. One starts to get burned out after a few days. I would say that the 12th would be a more fun day as it will probably really get started on the afternoon of the 11th.
Ok, Saturday the 12th at around noon I will try to get them there. As you know they are not the most reliable but I think booze and fun may do the trick.

So... I'm trying to picture the scene in places like Langkawi, Penang, Phuket even: Do all Songkran-refugees get together and join in a group-grumpiness session about the whole thing?
That'd be fun.
Yeah we are going to have a terrible time. So to the rest of you: Should the "help" come on Saturday the 12 or Sunday the 13th?

Personally, I think this man did the right thing in trying to intervene to save the boy. Not the thing in his own personal best interest, but the morally right thing. I readily admit that I don't kowif I wouldhave had the courage in his shoes...but I do kow tat if I didn't, I'd be haunted by it afterwards.
He died duing the right thing, in a sitation where doing te right thing was very dangerous and few would have had the courage. his family should take comfort in that, and the people on this forum -- irrespective of whether they would persoally have the courage to do thesame -- should honor that.
I agree with this post 100%. Sometimes -- even in Thailand -- it is right to step in, without regard for personal danger. Kids attacked by a whole mob would be such a situation.
Shame on the police for arresting one of the attacked underage boys as actual perpetrator of the murder, if that is how the facts come out now.
I used to think the same thing... Nowdays i'd turn round and walk in the opposite direction.
I fully agree. It is too dangerous to get involved here. I once saw a woman fall off her bike on the side of the road and it tore me up inside to drive past. I felt so ashamed and helpess knowing that I could not do anything, and if I did help in anyway I could possibly be liable for anything and everything from that point on.
This is where we chose to live and like it or not there are different rules here. Sorry to say I am not surprised the "mob" turned on him. This is Thailand and I have yet to see a one on one fight except in the ring. I compare it to a feeding frenzy; when there is a fight and Thais are involved it is a full on "mob" mentality and they will do anything to win.

Mr. Mobs00
You and your lovely staff would be MOST welcome to join us at John's Place/Cozy Corner after around 12 PM most days during the festival. There will be lots of girls and old degenerates for them to play with.
Great! I am sure you can understand when I say how hard it is to train staff here. I have been trying but would welcome help from any other able persons.
-
Only a few days left... Should we be training in preparation for this?
I will try to bring a few of my employees by to help. You know, fill your drinks, throw a bit of water, etc.....
-
I don't really like restaurants where I don't even know what cutlery to use first! For me it is really awkward going to places like the 'Le Crystal' and 'Le Coq d'Or', why do I need 15 people serving me food that takes two mouthfuls to finish?
Give me a burger any day!
BTW, does anyone know a good place to get a burger in town?
-
I'll be there in the afternoon to watch the fun and enjoy the food that is being catered by the Dukes.
Hey B man..
If ya explain the rules to me and wanna put up with an old goat, I'll come and join ya...but ya have to tell where it is..
It's at the Gymkana club. Call me for directions.

Chiang Mai Hash House Harriers
in Chiang Mai
Posted · Edited by mobs00
Here's a little hash song......
On the North shores of Antarctica
Where the yanks have never been
Lies the carcass of a bloody great polar bear
Shagged to death by a Hash House team
We are the perverts of society
The likes of us you've never seen
We are a pack of loud mouth bastards
We are the Chiang Mai Male Hash Team
Well we have a reputation
For molesting little boys
For abusing old age pensioners
And stealing kiddies toys
We are the perverts of society
The likes of us you've never seen
We are a pack of loud mouth bastards
We are the Chiang Mai Male Hash Team
We don't climb many mountains
And we don't cross many streams
We don't have pretty girlfriends
We just live off our wet dreams.
We are the perverts of society
The likes of us you've never seen
We are a pack of loud mouth bastards
We are the CHIANG MAI MALE HASH TEAM!
