  1. The Sixes have started today and as I will be there for most of the tournament I was just wondering if anyone wanted to meet up for a few drinks and watch the games.

It starts at around 8:30am and goes till about 5pm daily this week. I was at the party last night and the San Miguel girls were all in their finest form.

  2. This Sunday's CH4 (30-03) MIXED HASH run.

Take the new Sankampaeng Rd towards the Chiang Mai Sankampaeng golf course. About 3km from the Big C overpass look for HHH signs.

Run @ 5, Pick up from the Fish n' Chips shop at 4

    ON Oooooooooooooooon

    EDIT TO THE ABOVE

Drive 19km from the Big C towards the golf course and look for HHH signs.

  4. You Fuc*ers better be there, cuz I'm gunna risk life and limb ( and maybe a UA ) driving down there to partake in a few ( HA! ) brewdawgs with ya...

The mighty Vespa ( the Royal transport..I AM the KING of Tamboo,or is it Tampon,... Sunpeesua ) is gunna bring me there and enjoy many floggins of grog..

I wanna make this next arrest ( first one mind ya ) worth it.....

and it's fricking terrible riding that thing home half drunk and NO eye protection..... :D

and it's an old one with a shitty head light that shines into the trees ...not on the road..

    whaw...wahw...wahw... :o

Sounds like you are drunk already. Haven't you hear the dangers of "posting while intoxicated"? I could have sworn you were Ta22 with your "waa waaa waaa" and all.

And why are you infatuated with the number 420? Does it have some kind of special meaning in the force? For me it was a call sign when I was in High School, but that was long ago, maybe 7-8 years or so....

  5. Okay, UG, "Crowboy. McSpicy, the RealThaiDeal, and countless other respected members" (I suppose of ThaiVisa), get your jollies! Yes, the CMU girls in their skimpy shirts, shorts and little else are very cute when hit by one of your waterguns. Question is, would you guys be able to hit on them successfully without a watergun??!!

As someone who dated a Asahi and a Tiger girl, both out of Payap, the answer to that question is yes. How about you?

    CB

I wouldn't brag too loudly about that if I was you CB ..... Payap is renowned as the place where affluence rather than ability gets you a degree - the knock on effect being that the dumbest rich kids go there.

..... then again, if you're happy dating dumb beer girls ...... :o

If you said they were from CMU or Ratchapat, Silpakorn or Chulalongkorn, then I'd have been impressed :D

    :D

I'd be very careful calling them dumb beer girls Gaz because they all work for promotions companies and are legitimate students at universities doing part time work to help finance themselves through college. Confusing them with a Loi Kroh bar girl is likely to get you in serious trouble.

A lot of the girls came from Payap and despite your attempt to sneer at their academic ability they have to pass the entrance exam and their course. The fact is that being a private University many of the students come from more affluent families but many also have to work to survive. Most of us who went to University in the West will recall working as barmen/waiters/taxi drivers etc - doesn't mean we are dumb or lazy just that we had to pay to learn even in those countries with so called "free education".

    CB

Wonders why it took 27 hours to get the email advising you'd replied?

    Hohum

I'll also ask that you don't twist my words or I'll start reporting your posts to George - I made ZERO mention of bar girls, nor any allusions to them.

Regarding the other - it is common knowledge throughout Chiangmai academia that if students want to earn a degree, they go to CMU, if they want to buy one they go to Payap. In several large non-Thai funded companies in Chiangmai & Lamphun, job applications from Payap students automatically go into file 13.

Perhaps less time networking in bars and more time in sober company would broaden your understanding of local conditions?

    Gaz

Boy, I hope you can make. A laugh a minute.

  6. Beer Chang...

    Nice..

    What's the blue label one....?

    That looks tasty too.

    :o

Thats Tiger beer. I am so glad we don't like the same beer, could have created a problem at John's Place....

  7. If it makes you feel better Mobs we'll just ignore you so you can continue to drink alone.

Say what? Why is it not good enough that it would make us feel better? :o

Is that a lawyer's way to convert everything into a state of confusion?

If it would make you feel better to think so, I would be happy to say yes.

    I feel better already.

  8. Try doing a google search for "topless Phuket" 150,000 results. Below is an excerpt I pulled from one site on the first search page.

"Nai Harn beach is also located in the south of the Island & has beautiful beaches with secluded areas for top less & nud_e bathing , Nai Harh beach & Kata beach has good surfing during the wet season (May - October)."

    source:http://www.rawaimuaythai.com/Rawai_Information.html

I know this is not a reliable source but when researching a vacation are you going to check the credibility of information you come across? It is no wonder so many are ill-informed. A quick glance at the results strongly suggest topless sun bathing is ok at the beach in Thailand.

So which tastes better? I have not tried Asahi beer yet.... :D

The Asahi beer had great packaging and was an excellent product but the Tiger was overall a much better choice. I personally recommend you try them all. At one stage a good friend of mine (I think he still posts on this forum) was trying to collect the full set of beer and spirits. Had worked his way through Leo, Tiger, Singha, Chang (that one was special). He then moved to the spirits of Sang Som and JW Black and Red. Was moving up top shelf when suddenly he fell head over heels for a very lovely Tiger. Has remained faithful to the brand since and they have to cubs as a result.

I think this is the funniest post I have ever read on TV!!!!! This should be saved!!!! :o:D:D

  10. You can make an impression on Thais around you.

They didn't get their stereotypes from nowhere, it's from people like us.

If ever there was a ridiculous statement this was it. Thai kids have nonsense drummed into them about farangs from the earliest of ages.

How about the word farang? Ask any Thai what it means and they will say "foreigner". Ask them if Malays, Chinese or any other non white race are farangs and they will say no. Farang means a western white person. From an early age Thais have a prejuduce towards farang. How many times have you seen an adult with a small child point to a white person and say "farang, farang".

  11. This Monday's CH3 (31-03) MALE ONLY run.

Follow Maejo road and drive past Maejo University. After the Uni look for HASH signs on the right. Take the U-Turn and look for signs on the left. Follow the signs to the run site.

Run @ 5 Pick up from the Hash Pub at 4

  13. The amount of PM10 (particulate matter smaller than 10 microns) detected was under 120 micrograms per cubic metre. A station at Chiang Mai City Hall had 81.1, in downtown Chiang Mai it was 86.2, and a station at Phu Phing Ratchaniwet Palace measured 119.6 micrograms per cubic metre.

    Source: The Nation

  14. "The air quality in Chiang Mai on Tuesday was measured at 81 microgrammes per cubic metre (mgcm) and 119 mg/cb. The maximum safety level is below 120 mgcm." Monday figures

I pulled this from the Nation.

This has to be a joke. Yesterday I could not even see Doi Suthep it was so bad. I think visibility wise it was the worst this month. Today my friend and I were commenting on how at least today we could see the mountain today.

I know the Tuesday measurements are in fact for Monday so therein is where my point lies.

Again I am not a conspiracy theorist, but come on, my eyes were not lying! I would suspect there was some "adjustments" yesterday. Maybe they only turned on the monitoring station in their air conditioned office.

Priceless, even you must be a little bit suspect of these numbers.

  15. Weight of opinion seems to be that Chiang mai is terribly polluted. Very quiet from the one poster for whom polllution holds no fear.

    He means YOU UG :D

Actually, I think that he means the weight of opinion during the height of the smoky season. :o

I've never said that there was never any pollution in Chiang Mai; It looks like today is one of the few really bad days that we have per year. I am only reacting to visual signs of pollution because I feel no discomfort breathing at all. I do see lots of dirty looking clouds, but am quite comfortable otherwise.

When I visited Luang Prabang during the smoky season, it was literaly like standing in a big grey cloud, I could smell the smoke, my lungs hurt and my eyes watered for 3 days. I had a simular experience in Manilla when I visited there over a few weeks and coughed up black phlem for a few weeks after leaving. I have never felt anything remotely like this in Chiang Mai.

I bet if you come to the Hash run tomorrow you will feel some discomfort and not just from the air! But seriously, we hashers really do notice it when we run this time of year, lungs are tight and breathing is difficult.

And yes we know we shouldn't run in this weather, but we are hashers we don't listen!

  16. Unfortunately, most female tourists are unaware of these cultural attitudes. And so, find themselves victimised and even murdered because they haven't been made aware of certain cultural expectations. Perhaps pamphlets should be handed out to all women travellers to Thailand warning them that, although it appears to be quite safe and liberal, cultural expectations are different and that women need to be more cautious and more careful.

So, let me see, what about a pamphlet 'being handed out', along the lines of WE THE GOVERNMENT OF THAILAND ARE FULLY AWARE YOUR EYES WILL BE ASSAULTED AT EVERY TURN BY THE SIGHT OF SKIMPILY CLAD WHORES HANGING OUT OF BARS SHOUTING 'I LUB YOU TOO MUCH WHERE YOU COME FLOM' AT EACH AND EVERY TOURIST DESTINATION HERE, BUT PLEASE DO NOT WALK ALONG A BEACH IN A SWIMSUIT AS YOU MAY AROUSE THE SEXUALLY REPRESSED THAI MAIL? HAVE A NICE HOLIDAY. :o

Have I got that right? :D

I go to the Post Office almost daily and I don't see any problems.
