  1. Processing reffos, that aren't even genuine refugees but economic migrants ?

Meanwhile people who have applied for residency in the correct manner wait patiently for their application to be processed. Why should someone who purposely attempts to evade immigration laws and proceedures as well as paying criminal people smugglers even be considered ? Immediate deportation and a lifetime ban would be a far better deterrent than housing them for years in taxpayer funded camps. Would also give the bleeding hearts less to bleat about.

Dole money was intended to help working people though tough times or to bridge the gap between employment. It has become a lifestyle decision for some. Families comprised of three generations of bludgers, nonevwho have ever worked. These same bludgers are often involved with crime, drugs and family violence.

If they are to accept public money they should also accept that they must work for it. Mandatory "work for the dole" on civil infrastructure projects and neighborhood regeneration projects for the long term unemployed would leave them too tired to cause mischief. These layabouts and delinquents don't need handouts. They need structure, hard work and routine in lives. Laying on the couch boozing and smoking cones won't get them a job.

I have to work and pay 48% of my income to support these people why can't they contribute to society ? Handouts and kid gloves have done nothing to improve this problem and havevonly made it worse. No dole in Thailand or anywhere else in Asia you don't see idle 'tards living on govt tit here....

Can you tell me how to get Amazon Prime for Grand Tour?

You don't need Amazon Prime. Google "Vuze". Download and install it ( or any bittorrent client software ) Then Google "Grand Tour torrent download"  and download the episodes you want to watch. Then watch on your PC or stream to a TV. Same method for just about any TV program you can name.

thanks for your reply PDAZ,i wish i could go home a few times every yr.but my traveling days are over.

i too love nz.lamb, but welsh salt marsh is the best in the world,i have been a meat eater all my life and there is nothing better than a juicy steak, hereford blacks are exceptional, but i have had, ausi, argentina, brazilian, plenty of thai[pon -yang-kham] which is very good.

this yrs.treet is a 16oz. wagu steak this will be the first time and more than likely the last.my pension dont go that far.

as for thai food i love curries, green, red, masman and make my own indian.

same for beef and pork pies,i buy a lot of local beef flank, and striploin when i can get it cooked slow sealed in a dish it comes out well.

when living in bkk.we did a lot of shopping at food land that was 25yrs.ago,well tomorrow they open in korat so the wife is all excited.

so lets see what has changed or will it be the same quality or not.

I'm with you on the Welsh lamb. My family have been in the meat trade for three generations. We're all big meat eaters and I was brought up to enjoy everything from sweetbreads to trotters to brawn. Sadly even the best grades of beef available here are often disapointing flavour wise. Mostly due to them being vac packed primal cuts that didn't hang on the bone to develop flavour. Even a relatively cheap slice of well hung Scotch Rump in the UK beats them for flavour hands down. Veggies too often lack flavour. This makes cooking really good Brit food a challenge as most dishes rely so much in the quality of the base ingredients not added spices.

Luckily I can still visit the UK yearly and travelling for work gives me another oppotunity to stock up on "essentials"  Foodwise things have definitely improved in Thailand for me over the last 15 years in terms of availability but as many have said price is still a big factor.

I'll give the new venture a try. Thanks for your comments. As to the steaks next door, been there done that and disagree. I think they are one in the same "owner" or whatever they call the one who spent the money to make the place decent.

Steak&Co have added quite a lot to their menu recently. Don't know how long ago you tried it ?  Smokin Joes has only just started and I think they still need some fine tuning. The ribs were tender and well smoked but I didn't think they were succulent enough. I'm guessing this is mostly to do with the fat content of the local pork.

American hogmeat belly pork would carry more fat and I would expect it to be far juicer at the end of a long slow smoking. Sauce flavour was good but I'd prefer a little more spice heat in the dry rubbed ribs I tried. Brisket was also tender and well smoked but once again would have benefited from more fat.

I have the same problem slow cooking and smoking at home if the meat is too lean.

I'm still holding high hopes for Smokin Joes as its one of the few places in Pattaya doing real smoked ribs rather than just the oven baked/slow cooked version.

Thanks for the photo. The prices make one wonder what they are thinking? This isn't Bangkok and the location isn't, well, it isn't going to get people walking by. However, some mystical way the sister restaurant next door has remained open with even higher prices and no customers. There is money behind these projects and with all the violence in the world it's nice to see someone spending away without a care about profitability here in Pattaya.

Portions are large and the price includes a choice of two side dishes. The resto next door " Steak & Co " has a great selection of steak, not expensive by any means and also has huge portions. I think both places are well run and know their customer base.

i think its only meat that is cheap,eg.chicken and pork.

fruit is not cheap, apples and oranges,

    veg is not cheap either,carrots,cauli,oinons,brocli.

    all these compared to uk.prices are more expensive,eg.tesco uk.carrots 60p.a kilo eq.to 24bht.,thailand 35bht.

i think we loose the actual value of our currency compared to the uk.gbp.

dont forget its only 44bht.to the gbp. eg.broli tesco uk.eq.to 46bht.kilo.tesco lotus thailand 65bht.kilo.

This is where eating a varied diet becomes important. If like some I only eat imported "farang food" yes I agree it is more expensive than the UK. But as the food we eat here is a mixture of Thai, Western and other cuisines it is easy to offset pricier imported foods with cheaper locally sourced foodstuffs.

I don't like baked beans or Spam or other Western processed food so I don't feel deprived.

I buy imported Aussie or USA beef. NZ or Aussie lamb. But obviously pork, chicken and fish are local. About the only imported fruit I buy would be Apples, Kiwi fruit and Avocados. I prefer Asian greens/veg to Brussel Sprouts, Cauliflower and Broccoli.

Only really use potatoes for mash or roasting so local ones are fine. Seafood and fish is cheap and we eat it often. I make my own sausages, pies and other western favourites when I feel the need. Coffee beans, Cheese and wine are really the only items I consider overly expensive here. But I bring in all of these from overseas a couple of times a year which helps to offset the local price.

Can only really see the prices here being significant if you expect to eat exactly what you do in the UK and fill your kitchen with Western brand name products..

Frankly if I hated Asian food that much I really couldn't live here.

  7. Keep sending them home. There is no war in Afganistan. Same for all the Africans, Pakistanis, Iraqis etc, etc. They are nothing more than illegal immigrants. If thousands of other people can fill out the correct application forms, apply and wait patiently for a decision why should these criminals take precedence ? Deport them and blacklist them from ever entering Europe again.

  8. There is a guy here in Pattaya who specialises in restoring beatles and combis. Think he is responsible for many of the combi cocktail bars here. His place is located on the left side of pattaya railway bypass road between North and Central Pattaya if heading towards Satahip. Easy to spot as many Beatles and Combi's out front. He speaks good English. He may be able to help if you are visiting Pattaya

  9. Disapointing motor show.  Hardly any of the model or manufacturers I was interested in were on display.

The usual selection of trucks, SUV's and boring commuter boxes can be seen at any showroom in the country.

No Audi, No VW. Mercedes had no real AMG models, C43 coupe and reskinned SLK were there at least.

BMW had the M4 GTS roped off, no other "M" models on show despite the M2 being newly released and relatively affordable.  Even the grey market importers only had last years models on show. Porsche had the new 4 cyl turbo Cayman and Boxster. But only one example of each along with a Macan and Cayenne hybrid. At least Aston Martin had their full four car model range on display and Land Rover was well represented. Prize for the worst had to go to the Chinese "MG's" I think they should be sued over their use of the Union Jack. Absolutely terrible. Guess entry was only 100baht but a very poor show in reality.

  10. When did "Illegal imigrants" suddenly become "Migrants" ? If I enter Thailand, Indonesia or Japan without a valid visa or ID do I know become a migrant and get a free ride on the taxpayers coin ?

Or does this only apply in Europe if arriving from some third World cesspit ?

Does this theoretically mean that the entire population of Africa, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afganistan and anywhere else that is considered a 4hite place to live can now move to Europe ? When will this madness stop ?

"You entered our country illegally sir, and showed zero respect for our laws or the correct application procedure. You are to be deported immediately and banned from ever entering Europe again" Simple....

  11. Yes, they are all crap. A solar water heater ( solahart or similar )  3/4" OD pipe and a decent pump is really the only way to get a great hot shower with plenty of flow.  There aren't any decent cost effective alternatives. A comprable 300 litre electric water heater would be far  more expensive in the long run. Plus less reliable and more prone to problems. Both my properties here have had solar heaters fitted. The first was a "no name" Thai brand, 10 yrs and still going strong. Latest one is an Aussie Solahart, 3 yrs no issues. About 90k delivered and fitted. Super-Hot water at any time of day for the whole house (4 bathrooms and kitchen) The deluge of water available from the 350mm Hans Grohe "rain" showerhead in the master en-suite is brilliant.

Sounds pricey, but not when compared to the cost of five heat at point electric heaters or a central heated tank.

Even then you are still going to have crappy flow..
