6 yrs - 260k+ kms = Time to buy a new car 

Considering that Africans must be one of the smallest groups to visit Thailand ( when compared against Europeans and Asians ) they certainly seem to be a large percentage of the foreign prison population.

Process hasn't changed much. Just the price of the COE. When I lived there ( For 10 yrs) it was average around 30K Sing dollars for a car and 5 bucks for a motorcycle.

The price for the current 488 Ferrari is close to a million Sing dollars without the COE. The COE will only be a fraction on top of that. Even for  category E (Open COE ) Currently 54K Sing.  

Cars over 1600cc/130 bhp have a higher COE and luxury/sports are higher still, hence the 5k premium over the Cat A at 51K.

And ... 20 million baht might be the list price but in Singapore there are huge registration fees which are offered once a year and subject to bidding. Often the fee is as much again as the vehicle.

The COE ( the certificate of entitlement ) are bid for but on a luxury car like the Ferrari it would have been guaranteed before purchase. The cost of the COE is nowhere near the price of the car but only last for 10 years. It's basically just an expensive pre-paid road tax.

Did scope out the location. It's a very nice location thanks. Quiet, peaceful, No overlooking neighbors. I was there a long time before the coaches arrived.

Their coming and going doesn't effect me apart from seeing them parked in front of the Wat or having to overtake them as they dawdle down the road. It's just the businesses and the residents around the Wat that are suffering. They get no extra trade or compensation for their inconvienience. I dare say the Abbott is coining it though.

Unfortunately it's not just isolated to that area.

OA and other coaches are blocking the roads and causing nuisance throughout Pattaya.

Making money is fine.. But it's impact on the community needs to assessed and controlled.

Otherwise businesses will run rough shod over Joe Public with no thought beyond profit and greed.

If it clears the abundance of OA Transport coaches out of Pattaya I'll be happy. There are close to 40 of them  (other companies too ) entering/exiting the wat near my house on a daily basis.. Destroying the road and creating a nuisance for the locals.

Yep. I'm under no illusion that their true level  of efficiency won't be revealed until after the car is delivered and the first issue surfaces. One has only to surf a few car forums to realize that even premium brands can have dud dealerships.  here's hoping.

I was talking about "customer service". Not, "mechanical service"

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that if my car isn't delayed further the servicing will be up to standard.

Very happy with the service at Benz Pattaya. Very helpful and tried very hard to locate the info and options I wanted. Less happy with the fact that my new car has now been delayed until the new year due to some issue with CBU imports. Bu99er !

Some people are just evil and beyond redemption. The World is not short of people so better to do away with the ones who kill and refuse to live in a civil manner. 

Bundy, Dahmer, Berkowitz and countless other multiple murderers, rapists and psychopaths only deserve the same compassion they showed their victims. ie None.

Empty the jails and kill them all. Good example to other potential criminals and would save millions of tax payers money better spent on the deserving.

Swift capital punishment for convicted murders/shooters and rapists. Compulsory military service for young gangbangers and troublemakers. Chaingangs, hard labour and long custodial sentences for re-offenders. Put the fear of God into them with real zero tolerance policies. In addition offer scholarships and apprentice positions to those who are keen to improve their lot. Help them succeed and give them an alternative to living in a ghetto but punish heavily those who resist joining the larger society. 

If they will send by regular airmail and the part is not to large/heavy you have a chance it will arrive without duty. If they send by courier service you will incur duty. Duty is calculated on the cost of the item+postage. I have bought lots of car/bike parts in from UK/USA and Europe. All depends how much you need the part. If you can't find it easily here there is little choice.  On a $50 dollar part it won't break the bank. 

More legitimate tourists from the Dark Continent.. Plus some quality tourists from China.

I'm 6'3 and no light weight so most small/mid sized 4 door saloons seem small to me.

I prefer 2 door coupes as the doors are usually longer and I don't have to worry about legroom for rear passengers. My current Audi TT has more headroom and width than a Yaris, Civic etc.

I was surprised how cheap they appear secondhand 500k for a 3-4 year old mid sized saloon is almost a bargain in Thai terms. Especially considering their original price point.

It is possible that they only had third party or the basic Govt insurance. Both will compensate others for damage done by the vehicle in an accident etc. But not the vehicle owner for damage incurred. Hence the need to pursue a third party for damages. Not everyone has first class insurance here - only basic insurance is mandatory.

Battery packs were guaranteed by Toyota for 100k miles if I remember correctly. In the US it's around 4000 bucks to replace battery pack (inc the core refund) Dunno about Thailand.

Gas is cheap here, Prius are heavy, small inside and don't drive that well. Surprised anyone apart from hardened eco-warrior types would want one. Bit of an odd-ball car in Thailand that were a bit of a status symbol when they first arrived but seem to have dropped off the radar now.

Funds provided by the UK based " safer roads foundation " more Brit cash pi55ed up the wall. A total waste of time and effort. The Thais will find a way to evade it as usual. Wonder what happens when Johnny Tourist rides by on his rental bike without a helmet ? If the postal fine takes a week or so to arrive at the rental place the guilty party may have already left Thailand. Can't see the bike rental mafia being happy if they left holding the baby.
