  1. I have been reading through the few posts about shipping forwarders but haven't really found good info yet so I am starting a new topic about this:

Does anybody have good tips for shipping forwarders or companies based in Bangkok?

I have the need once in a while for shipping items such as furniture to overseas, between 50-300 kg normally. So I cant fill a container myself but still need a cost effective solution for these cases. I am not looking for courir or any express shipments.

I assume for the below 50kg shipments a companu such as UPS or TNT is still best option (but proof me wrong) but for the larger shipments the cost gets too high.

I would have the need for a quote right now, so any info or a contact is appreciated.

  3. 120 Billion all gone. Geeze. And still I cant really see much has changed except a few craptastically built "dams"....more like small, flimsy, thin concrete walls.

Then in addition I always read that the flood tests (however they are testing it) are failing all the time.

If last year's floods repeat this year the government cant stay in office....theoretically only of course.

  4. So here is what I ended up doing:

First I went to MBK. As download mode still worked they all said it can be fixed...... I was happy. then after they brought it to the repair shop all of a sudden they said its not possible. This is what I guessed anyway as I tried at home already and it cannot be flashed anymore. Then they brought it to some kind of specialty shop for a last try but that shop said its broken and the main board needs to be replaced as it is totally bricked.

dam_n I thought, now I have a custom ROM on there which means no warranty anymore. Brought it to Samsung anyways to ask how much it will be. Strangely enough they didn't care about what ROM is on there...they replaced the mainboard without any questions for free under warranty.

Everything is working again now. I have to say this is really great customer service. They do not have to do this under warranty but they did without making a fuss.

  5. Thats why I have still some hope. I can still enter download mode and Odin correctly recognizes the phone still BUT nothing can be flashed in Odin anymore. I have a stock ROM and tried to flash it back but for this ROM and all others it always stops half way through. No flash is completed.

Before this whole mess I could flash just fine with Odin.

So this is why now I cant enter recovery and also I cannot flash with Odin as every flash process hangs shortly after starting. Is there anything I could do?

  6. Flashed custom ROMS to my Galaxy S2 several times already...unfortunately finally bricked my phone during a flash progress that didn't work properly. I cant even boot to recovery mode anymore (but still bootable into download mode). So its bricked for sure.

Now I am about to go to MBK center to look for a shop that might be able to bring my phone back to life but I was wondering if any of you has experience with specific shop or knows a place that specializes in flashing firmwares for Android?

  7. I'm selling my Ninja 650R with following specs:

    - 2011 model, purchased 2010

    - Its 2.5 years old now, has only 7400 km down in total

    - No accidents, no damages anywhere

    - I bought it myself, no other owner before

    - black color

    - has 1st class insurance until next year February (12000 Baht value)

    - is registered for this year

    - has just been to the 6000km standard checkup at Kawasaki

It is standing around at my house too much as I didn't find the time to ride it as it should.

Let me know if you are interested.

As there is still 1st class insurance for 0.75 years on this bike and kms are still low, I'm asking for 195,000 Baht.

  8. Alright. Thats of course a possibility.

So how does it look like for all other wood types? Can they just be exported or is there also paperwork needed to export these to Europe? To proof that it is a sustainable wood and allowed to ship internationally? Do you still require paperwork just because its wood? I mean, I cannot imagine the customs know all the different wood types there are.

  9. I agree....thats why I asked for any info on traders that trade with teak that is controlled, no matter if it is more expensive. Just to clarify: Im not looking for the light colored young teak that is easy to find. This is from plantations. I bought this before many times.

But I heard there is also the dark colored (older) teak but also coming form plantations. It is mor expensive but legal papers could be provided for it. Is this a myth or really existing. Anybody has info on that?

  10. I also think that it is not that strict within Thailand. Actually as far as I know as long the teak is not exported it is totally acceptable to by and sell it here. I have been to saw mills in Bangok the size of a shopping mall that had tons and tons of Burmese teak in them, nothing else.

Same goes for the wood markets in Bangkok. Burmese teak is openly sold without permits and it is OK. BUT if you ask them for export papers they will not provide it. One time I had somebody who said he has teak from Thailand and can provide papers but it was very expensive, multiple times of the Burmese variety.

  11. @apetley: Kind of what I thought.... Still amazing how easy it would be to circumvent the laws on such an isse....Also, the other question is that after you were able to export it, then what happens at the UK (or other countries) customs. Don;t they check again? Well, I guess they caouldnt see if the paper is fake or not.

@sandgroper2: Actually I was only asking about exporting documents for teak.... not the quality level or suitability for climates...thats for another thread.

  12. I am still puzzled about the exact laws concerning export of teak wood furniture (or teak wood that is). I know you cant export the logs in any way. But what about furniture for example.

I know many companies here that sell loads of teak timber but I have yet to find one that does NOT sell teak from Burma. It all seems to come from there for price easons of course but also the good quality but normally it is not allowed to be exported to Europe for example.

Some seem to find a way around it by shipping it to Thailand, then to Europe. I have met companies before that openly stated they use Burmese teak wood in their furniture but that it is no prolem to export to Europe (deesawat.com for example is a big company that exports loads of teak furniture). How is that possible. Anybody knows?

Does anybody know teak wood traders that provide teak wood with proper licenses so that it can be exported? Or made into furniture first and then exported?

Or can anybody explain how large companies like Deesawat can export teak furniture to Europe wihout any problems?

  14. I have problems with my back since a couple weeks now. It is nothing too serious yet and the main reason is probably the sport I am doing. I play hockey and if I have some pain it often happens after I played. Again, as I said, nothing too serios (yet) but disturbing enough as it also causes headaches for me not just back pain. I would like to go see a specialist about this who can do something against it and recommend some exercises, massages, whatever helps.

Does anybody have a recommendation of a doctor in this area specifically? Is there any clinic you know about that specializes on this?

    Thanks for any help.

  15. thanks for the tip. I heard of Dr Bike before as they post a lot on mocyc.com. So maybe I should have a look there first.

anybody has been to K-Speed yet on Rama 2? I know you can buy all kinds of parts there but I also read on another forum they also sell used bikes and rebuilts.

Dr Bike in Chok Chai 4 do a lot of work on older imported bikes. They tend to specialize in cruisers with their new parts, but their are always 4 or 5 sport bikes out front as well, and in their workshop.

Don't know about their price or quality on rebuild work, but the few things I've bought from them and what I see in their workshop that they are working on at the time, they could be worth a go.

There's a guy there with good English... I've got his name and number somewhere, I'll post it if I can find it.

Anyone had substantial work done there?

It would be worth checking what they have out front, there may be something that interests you.

    Cheers.

They are good, but right now closed due to flooding. I drove there a couple of days ago and the shop was closed, no sign. The flood water was about 50 meters from the shop and coming in slowly.
