  1. The machine was installed today Humax PVR-H100S. Apparently after 2 year of paying the extra 140baht a month we will own the box outright.

True called again today, so we took the deal. They will Install it on November 9th. It is definitely the PVR. They said it is because we have been subscribers for more than 5 years.
  2. If it makes you feel better, They have always asked for my number at the Mae Sai border.

Is this post a wind-up, it is pretty obvious what the request for phone number was about.

I've been contributing to this forum for almost 4 years. I don't post here to wind anyone up. It is not obvious at all. I posted about the incident to get various opinions on it. Whenever we get tourist visa extensions at Jomtien they ask us to put our phone numbers on the photocopy. I've never heard of anyone getting a similar request at a border checkin.

  3. I don't think that location lasted even 6 months.

Sorry to say it was brought back by a friend who just visited VN. Check out Airport Plaza though. Basement level, right at the back (if you enter from car park end), just before you turn right towards Robinson.

Trung Nguyen signed deals to distribute here 4 or 5 years ago, but nought seems to have happened. I suppose there's always (drum roll) Internet shopping!

  4. I tried a few tracert to US sites.

    8 106 ms 54 ms 54 ms if-0-0-7.core2.s9r-singapore.as6453.net [209.58.96.13]

    9 241 ms 240 ms 290 ms if-15-0-0-991.mcore3.PDI-PaloAlto.as6453.net [216.6.29.97]

And My ping times have dropped to the low 2xxms from the low 4xxms

I am using TTT Priemer 3mb in Chiang Mai

I believe the AAG may be live, doing traceroutes on a TRUE line, they appear to go straight from singapore to LA. I dont know how this could happen without the AAG.

    Does anyone agree?

  5. Yes, That is what I said to her while she was on the phone with them. They verified it was the PVR and it is free. I use a dreambox. So I probably will skip this. It is possible that we are at the beginning of a role out.

I just wanted to give people here a 'heads up' incase someone was thinking of buying one, they may want to hold off.

Why don't you give them a call. They have English speaking staff.

PVR is advertised as being 10,000 baht and you must pay a few hundred baht extra every month for the service.

The deal your wife speaks of seems too good to be true.

  6. Today my wife received a call from TrueVisions offering her a 'free' upgrade to their DVR. Free Box, Free Installation, but the monthly rental is 299bt instead of the 15Xbt that we pay now. After 2 years the rental fee goes back down to normal.

Has anyone else been contacted about this?

  7. OpenDNS seems to be working fine for me .. /TTT Premier/Chiang Mai

It looks like TT&T/Maxnet are now blocking all traffic on port 53, both UDP and TCP.

This means that I cannot use any dns-server outside of Thailand and am forced to use the Thai server with all the redirects and blocks.

    Thank you so much.

Another brick in the wall, another restriction of personal freedom and another increase in government control.

    :):D :D

  8. Legal games generally cost 300-800 baht unless they are imports.

Here is a good place to check prices in Thailand http://www.zest.co.th/www/main/index.php

The one at the top of Pantip Plaza charges 150 Baht per disk. All they do is DL and burn ones that are on the torrents, so if you have an internet connection you can save a lot of money by doing it yourself. Installation issues with the torrents are still on the disk they sell, so even if you can't wait to DL yourself, at least check the comments on the torrents to make sure installation works properly. The originals are much cheaper than the west but still in the region of 800-2000 Baht. Still, some disks come in at 4-5 disks these days so buying the original may be only a couple of hundred baht more

Obviously no one agrees with piracy, but many games are simply not released at all in Thailand, so in that regard, its not that immoral.

If you feel happy DLing games from STEAM or Direct2Drive, you pay full western retail price, although they sometimes have some very good sales.

BTW if this breaks any rules on discussing piracy feel free to delete, or maybe just delete the bit concerning the price etc of pirated disks

  9. It is hard to know for sure. When I first decided to switch to Maxnet from Hinet I called TTT and asked for a free weeks trial (I ended up extending it to two) to see how well it works where I live. You should be able to get them to let you test out the Premier Package. I can't hurt to call.

I've been having problems for months with Indy 3 MB. I use websites in the USA and Europe more often than ones in Thailand. Sometimes International websites will not load at all. Skype is not possible.

Should I upgrade to Premier? Will that resolve this poor service? the Internet service has slowly been deteriorating over the last 3-4 months to the point where it is barely usable; it is so slow and unreliable.

    Thanks.

  10. The person I replied to was expressing doubt that international bandwidth was being upgraded. I offered evidence that it has been upgraded often. I am not sure how your reply to me is relevant to that conversation.

Lordfoul: Why? International Bandwidth to Thailand has more Than Doubled in the last year and nearly tripled in the last 2.

…and the amount of users? + Users wishing to use int. access?? . I don’t know, but is it keeping pace? A standalone statistic like this doesn’t really tell us that much ..sorry. (but be nice if someone can dig out a user stat. thou)

  11. That is very odd, we are both in Chiang Mai and I am using Open DNS fine and I am not suffering from slow speeds. Are you on Indy or premier?

If premier did you sign the paper work to upgrade your connection speed. what does your IP address start with?.

Seems Maxnets latest trick is they have blocked opendns from being used, change back to obtain DNS automatically on a friends service to get him back working again, this seems to be only on Indy and not premier.

Thanks for that. That answers my question. Could not connect for two days, reverted back to "obtain DNS automatically" and am able to connect albeit pitifully slow.

  12. my IP starts with 124

Just to along with Rdrokit ...Newark De....

    515742120.png

Even unluckier LOL ...nope I ain't in Korat ...I'm a litten bit west of Bangkok.

And hey, why has the ISP disappeared on my speedtest pages? Mmm been like this since last Sunday, when they flicked a switch somewhere and decided to give me only 112 start IP's ....gone for me is 114, 117, and 222 ...Mmm. Yup, poor access to U.S. and slow in Thai sites ..same same, different day!

Can't wait ...only 4 days, 2hrs 30 mins ..till my internet is fixed :)

Good luck to you all, and your bill waivers, and your 1103 calls.

  13. Ok, This is while using Maxnets DNS servers

    nslookup1.txt

    Server: resolver1.opendns.com

    Address: 208.67.222.222

    Name: www.opendns.com

    Address: 208.67.219.101

    nslookup2.txt

    Server: DD-WRT

    Address: 192.168.1.100

    Name: www.opendns.com

    Address: 208.67.219.99

    nslookup3.txt

    Server: DD-WRT

    Address: 192.168.1.100

    which.opendns.com text =

"I am not an OpenDNS resolver."

Note: DD-WRT is my Router/DHCP/DNS server

    Hope That Helps

    Then run

    nslookup www.opendns.com. 208.67.222.222 >nslookup1.txt

    nslookup www.opendns.com. >nslookup2.txt

    nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com >nslookup3.txt

Sorry about that sometimes a get wrong. these should work
