And only one toilet for the 5 of you? Or maybe they got you catheterised? I know that some doctors do. I was a bit worried as I have one giant prostate, but they didn't. During the night I went to the toilet 5 or 6 times, had a weak flow and I had to drag the rip rig with me... They also said that could have a sore throat from intubation, but no trace of that either.

Yes, one toilet. That reminded me of something else about that stay. Every day a woman around 50 years old would come with what I believe were young nursing students. The girls (about 10 of them) would surround my bed and the older one would ask me questions in Enghish. "Have you had a pee and poop yet Baby?", "Have you washed up yet Baby?". She would tell the girls what I answered and all the girls would smile at me in approval. The "Baby" bit was a little disarming🫤.

    Note quite.

    The 270k surgery was laparoscopic.

The 25k will have been open.

Only higher tier public hospitals can fo laparoscopic and this will cost more like 50k. Still much less than private, of course.

No, mine was laparoscopic. 2 or 3 small holes. But like I said around 6 years ago. Can't even find them now. Just want to add it was at Suranari Korat

Had my Gallbladder removed 48 hours ago a Bumrungrad by Dr. Theerapol. I am amazed by the effectiveness of the laparoscopic procedure [as performed by Dr Theerapol]. No pain [and no food] at all during the the first 24 hours, some mild soreness since yesterday. Four meals  and even coffee so far, and no problems whatsoever,  I'll try salmon with a glass of white wine for lunch.

The downside being that I am going to get even fatter...

Once more, ladies and gentlemen, if you settle in Thailand make sure you have a proper health cover and you'll be safe. The above procedure costs about 270k, which is what you'd pay in Switzerland. But why not you'll get great doctors and great nurses.

I had mine done at the government hospital for around 25k. The two downsides, they use gas to put you under, and you are put in a room with 5 others afterward.

  4. I have used this guy often to drive me from Phimai to Bangkok. He is stationed in Bangkok and drives out to pick me up. My cost is just under 4000. He is a good driver, not crazy. Glad to stop any time to pick up a coffee or use the toilet. PM me for his name and number. Have your wife talk to him as I don't think his English is very good.

This is the junction....  from the direction the SUV was travelling....  the SUV didn't yield and was likely travelling at speed, IF another vehicle were travelling from the other direction (from the left in the pic below) the SUV would have hit them too.

The SUV has to yield for anything already on the junction, clearly it didn't - SUV driver 100% at fault here IMO.

This is the junction from the direction the disabled-scooter was travelling.

There is no pavement, no other option but to ride on the road, riding on the road (with a disability scooter), cycling along the road or walking along the road is not illegal in this case...

    image.thumb.png.a4f54c56a91f4191a22c7589d9c4d1a6.png

It seems quite clear that the SUV driver was not going to stop for anything and was prepared to hit anything in his way, or stupid enough not to think anything would get in his way... (*clearly as stupid and dangerous as some of the posters on this thread).

We have those white lines in my town also. They may as well not be there as no one seems to pay attention to them. It seems that there is one poster here that claims to not pay attention to them.

  6. Back home a crow would bring walnuts from a tree about 100 m away drop them on the road, sit on a fence post and wait for a car to come by and run over it. When out walking if I saw one on the road I would crack it open for it. It was not long until when he saw me coming, he would drop one in front of me. They say crows can recognize faces and can hold a grudge against an individual.

When I first came to Thailand I was going out with an office girl and it was 1200 so she took me in to the back of the office where the staff were having lunch, they were all sharing the food and I keep remembering this fish head on the plate which had it's two eyes staring at me, and yes, they ate it.

Thais love fish heads. There was a restaurant near Samsen train station that became famous for its deep-fried fish heads. They had to start restricting the number of orders due to all the fish bodies they had to throw away.

Yes but this is in the article

"Police checked Hartas’s criminal history and found that he had escaped arrest in a drug case in Koh Samui and sought refuge in Koh Pha Ngan. Hartas confessed to fleeing from the arrest in Koh Samui, stating that he resorted to begging for food. However, residents informed the police that the majority of the money earned from begging was used to purchase drugs."

How would the residents know what he used the money for? Were they selling it to him?

  9. One place I go, I'm a regular. If they see me come in, they know what I will order, I don't have to stand in line. I go sit at a table outside, they bring my drink out to me. When I leave I clean up my own mess. Would they give me the same service if I didn't tip? Most likely. but I think they deserve one. What came first, the chicken or the egg?

Bidens latest lie is that his uncle, who he never met as he was only 2 when the guy was in the war was eaten by cannibals. The plane he was in was not shot down, another Biden lie, and there is no proof he was eaten by anyone. At least he did not dig his son up again!

  11. As I live rural, I tip quite a bit. Many locals try and fail at keeping their businesses going out here. If I find a mom-and-pop shop that I like I tip well. Chain outlets with tip boxes not so much.

Silly. Pay your employees. If you dont want to do that, then that’s your problem. it’s certainly not the customers problem. Think about it. We blame the customer, yet without customers there is no business. Tipping problems are all about the employer.

But you are the very one who said you don't want to pay more to have a shirt made so the workers could have better pay. A g word comes to mind.

There are so many things like this happening all over the world but US does nothing. Ukraine is a special interest of some people in the government but not to Americans. That's my only point. It's THEIR war.

So Germany invaded Poland and France. It was just THEIR war? At what point do you act against an aggressor? Only when he is at your doorstep?

The fact that he drove there on his motorcycle in that state - clearly a case of DUI - didn't seem to matter one bit.

Not only did the guy's sister consider the cops to be a taxi service of sorts - the cops mind-bogglingly obliged.

Now sure about Thai law. But don't you need to be caught in the act?

That depends on a dentist and their skills. Had a crown done in Bkk 15 years ago and it is still going strong.

Same here. I had a bridge, 3 crowns, going on 30 years now. Well worn, but still there.

  16. For me anyway, it would be more work to learn Modern. I have put so much time into reading Traditional. I can see that if you are trying to learn to write, the Modern would be easier but I need to write so little I will stick to Traditional.
